If you have Oliso money, this is probably the better choice. My current Oliso went belly up after a few months. Its was my 3rd Oliso and I am sooo done. I think a Reliable is in my future if I get another premium iron. Thank you for this great review.
I'm keeping the Velocity 270IR. It's all about the ability to override the auto-shutoff, and the fact that this thing feels like a BRICK holding down my blocks! 🙌
Did you find that the maven and velocity both glide across the fabric when pressing yardage equally? I had a velocity 200IR that died last year and I replaced it with a oliso but I hate it so on the search for a new one again but think the Velocity might to be heafty for me, but worried the maven might be to light with the 2lb difference.
Although their sole plates are made of different materials, I'd say that they both glided (glid?) across the fabric very smoothly. No complaints for either one!
I would never pay that much money for an iron. I have not tried this one, but my experience is that they ALL leak. Doesn’t matter if you pay $30 or $300. They all leak eventually
Mine's been going for years without any leaks whatsoever, but I certainly know what you mean... Every other iron I've ever owned eventually spat out weird gunk.
Oh, interesting! Other than the Reliable Maven iron that I tested out, I don't think I've ever owned an iron with a steam trigger. Most of my previous irons had a dial or button to turn on the steam, and then it was continuous. Some of them did have a "burst" button, though. So many different types of irons out there!

Haha, "Oliso money" 😂 It's true though, the irons are not inexpensive, but I've found them to be really high quality.
Excellent coverage. You are a natural born teacher :)
Wow, thank you so much, Rosemary!!
It’s a fantastic iron! Great review!!
Agree💯!!!! (About the iron!) And I appreciate the kind comment about the review!
Holy moly this should do the ironing for you, at that price.
Haha, it is an investment. But one that I'll happily make in order to get these super flat seams! 🙌
Thank you very much, I just ordered mine!!
Oooh, congratulations! I hope you love it!
I’ve been happy with mine on the 4 setting. But I’ll try 8 tomorrow! If you think it really makes a difference. Thanks.
You know... it never even occurred to me to try it on 4. I went straight to MAX and never looked back! 😆
Supes thorough - thanks for the info!
Thanks Jess! I'm having lots of fun making these videos, and I'm so glad to hear that you like them! 😄
If you had to pick just one iron, which would you pick? The Maven or the Velocity? I've watched both of your reviews and they were great!

How fast can u fry a piece of bacon on the iron?
I got this iron for Christmas I love it! Everything you’ve said about this iron is so true. If you iron a lot like I do this is the perfect iron.
I also received mine as a Christmas gift! 🎁 So glad you found an iron that you like!

I've had this iron for many years with no problem. Well worth the money!!
It does not leak, I love this iron!
I’m struggling with the sensor handle. I miss the trigger.
