    That boost fooler did what it claimed to do. Your gauge reads 11 psi because that's what the ECM was reading. You should rebuild your turbo with a 360 kit from pure turbos and install the wicked wheel. And while you have the turbo out, install a garret turbo pedestal with the back pressure valve delete.

      @NoHalfAss  5 років тому +4

      brendan hill I thought about that and you’re probably right, but I want to be able to see what kind of boost I’m really getting. I guess I would need regular gauges for that. I also didn’t like how it threw a p1211 code and the service engine light came on. I do want to do that stuff you mentioned but that’s major mods I can’t do right now 😂 I need a sponsor! Lmao

      80HD Projects if you end up needing to do anything to your turbo I highly recommend dropping in the 38R. I feel it’s one of my best mods. Mine kept throwing the service light till I had DP Tuner do my custom tunes with his tunes it won’t defuel till 35 psi and I can’t get over 30psi so no worries there till I do my injectors! Did the light stop coming on with your tune ?

    Get a mechanical fooler that goes in line on the hose that goes from the intake to the map sensor your gauge will read the right boost and the map won’t defuel Oh and don’t forget the waste gate actuator the spring is set to open at about 20 psi. You can get a 30psi actuator on line it’s 2 bolts and an e clip to change just a little fun to get to behind the turbo but that will give you more boost like you want. The p1211 code is saying the your fuel or oil isn’t keeping up with demand. My p1211 code didn’t go away until I switch out the super chips for a 6 position chip also no codes with the hydra I have now.

    • @NoHalfAss

      MrPowderEater that’s interesting because I was getting the p1211 code with my edge tuner but when I switch to my superchips it never happened again. I do plan on switching to the hydra eventually though. And cool thanks for that info! I think I want to try the turbomaster wastegate actuator🤘🏻🔥

    It’s working. That gauge you have on the dash is showing what your computer is seeing. You put a boost fooler on. Now it thinks your not making enough. Might be pulling to many volts out of the wire now

    Might look into "Big Boost" if you can still find it. It installs in-line of the MAP sensor hose. Powerstrokehelp has a video out that talks about the "Big Boost", what it does, what it looks like & how it is installed. "7.3 High Performance Mods 1 of 3". Just as easy as the wire you installed. I put one on mine & I can get over 30psi. I got mine on eBay years ago but could not find one to send you a link. He has a lot of great ideas in that video as well as the 2nd video for performance upgrades you can do. I am getting ready to perform the fuel system upgrades he recommends. Got the material from Auto Zone for the Hutch / harpoon mod in the tank, got the banjo bolts & fuel regulator spring from Riff Raff & the fuel bowl mod can be done with simple tools.

I really want to do the hutch mod too but I really want to buy a full kit rather than trying to get her the parts myself since the truck is my only vehicle and I need to to get to work everyday so I need to be able to get the job done in one day and not worry about missing parts.

    This probably is working but I would say your wastegate is opening early bc they get weaker over time. My wastegate would open with 3psi on it. Basically you start losing boost before building any.

    • @NoHalfAss
      @NoHalfAss  5 років тому

      Mitchell Henry makes sense bro and I know you are correct about that happening over time. But I found a hole in my intercooler pipe (check out that video!) from rubbing on a stainless steel fitting coming out of the power steering pump and by replacing that intercooler pipe I went from 21 to 24 psi. Then I got the hydra and now I get 25psi easily! Now it’s too much on the stock turbo and I get turbo surge whenever I hit 25psi so I guess it’s time to upgrade the turbo soon 🤷🏻‍♂️ lol
      Check out some of my newer videos so you can see!!

    Fuel injectors, fuel pump upgrade maybe better fuel flow... intercooler and intercooler piping......maybe a custom etune or shop dyno tune after that and your future turbo upgrade.
    Keep in mind the preset tunners are tested in similar trucks. But not in the same places.
    Weather, living altitude of where you live do make a difference so the more personalized the tune is the better it will be for you. Thats assuming tunes work similar to import cars!!

    You need to permanently shut the wastegate door closed.
    That red hose is how the computer "increases" boost when the pedal is floored.
    Don't reconnect the red hose.
    You don't need the wastegate controller. The only reason I don't toss mine, is that I want the PCM to know it is still on.

    • @norman_sage2528
      @norman_sage2528 5 років тому

      When the actuator/red line is in a passive mode it allows the wastegate door to open easily. A restricted amount of idlle air pressure from the intake travels along the red line to the wastegate.
      You don't want that for proformance. When you floor it the PCM bypasses the red line. So, it acts like it is disconnected.
      Therefore, for optimal performance leave it how you found it.
      It was a good idea to plug the port on the spider. That is a restricted port anyway.

    • @NoHalfAss
      @NoHalfAss  5 років тому

      Viking Child okay awesome information thank you! I’ll look into how to shut the wastegate and try it out. Also I’ll have to order new fittings so I can reconnect the red vacuum line. Thanks for the info!!🙌🏻🙏🏻🤘🏻

      Sorry, I was rambling a bit. Those red/green lines are not for vacuum, they are for pressized air only. You don't need to replace the 90 degree boot and red line.

      The way you have the hoses right now will work fine.
      You could put a higher psi wastegate on it. This is what I did. The stock one was about 8 psi before it opened, tested on my air compressor. I don't know how much different it is when installed the motor. I just put a 15 psi on the turbo and connected it directly to the restricted port on the intake. So, the aftermarket one I bought has a maximum of 15 psi. And my boost gauge says my pressure doesn't exceed 15. So, it is working for me. They have 25 and 30 psi wastegates for sale also. If that is what you are looking for.

    Damn, that sucks.. lol, well cant win them all, haha.., im pretty sure your right about the superchips tuner being different... I've been told that different tunes/tuners are way different from eachother.... I also have the 1211 code... but were pretty sure it's the o-rings on the injectors... but I'm starting to suspect it's the bullydog tuner because sct and bullydog are owned by the same company..... I want to try another tuner...lol.. my truck doesn't throw that code without the tuner , but the injectors are original and my truck has 215k now.....

    • @NoHalfAss
      @NoHalfAss  5 років тому

      Joey Gonzales yeah I’ve been told it’s from the tuners giving the truck more power then the HPOP/injectors can handle but some tuners override the code and some don’t (like the edge and bullydog). But I plan on getting the hydra soon, when I hit 2k subs. I talk about that a little bit in the vid I’m uploading tomorrow🤘🏻🔥

    Alright, sounds like your boost fooler was working. Because your reading your data off the factory sensor. It has told the pcm your only getting 11 psi hence fooling it. It still felt like 21 psi. Your factory boost pressure sensor, can only read up to X amount maybe 21 psi. Even if you have 28psi.
    I have the edge cts2 insight with the expandable sensors. Use one of their boost sensors. Benefits it not only reads higher it reads in 1/10 increments. ie 21.1, 21.2.

    • @NoHalfAss
      @NoHalfAss  5 років тому

      Mitch 7.3 powerstroke that makes sense, and I was actually thinking the same thing. But I’m the end I still decided it wasn’t worth it because the truck didn’t feel like it was getting more boost and I didn’t like that it threw a code and made the service engine soon light come on. But I might try the boost fooler from riffraff instead of the electronic boost fooler and see if we get better results!

    • @cencoast_7.340
      @cencoast_7.340 5 років тому

      But why would the fooler read half of what he was really getting? Doesn't it just fool it once it goes past the defueling psi?

    • @mitch7.3powerstroke81
      @mitch7.3powerstroke81 5 років тому

      I could be wrong, there are probably other units that would do that. but its not some high tech million dollar elaborate unit. It looks like its just earthing a sensor wire. Giving it a messed up reading or maybe halfing the sensor signal.That sensor would be what the pcm is reading. So if it develops a reading disability. It cant do its job. If it were through a tuner and i would imagine it would do that.
