as a kid I would look thru the sears catalog every Christmas and check everything out while circling what I wanted. this video is almost a updated "tech" version of that and I appreciate it. I found out I need my tenth operation for crohns so I been struggling to get into the Christmas spirit but this video managed to hit that sweet spot. thank you

Maybe it's just be, but all I'm being confronted with is the recurring statement that you wouldn't need anybody near you ór with you during Christmas, if you had the gadgets.
Instead of a dad, lifting up his son to put the Christmas-star on, you'd give your son the remote and give him instructions on how to fly the drone.
Instead of running outside in the cold together, screaming; 'Aaahhh it's so cold' and running back with some extra wood to put on the fireplace, you now take your phone and press a button.
Wasn't Christmas about working together as a team? And not working seperately untill everyone's finished and the endresult is good?
I mean, I understand the show is not stating that we should do this. It's half/half comedy and entertainment and showing possibilities. But since you (TheCaenukeism) mentioned how awesome it'd be to be rich, I can tell you, it's not that awesome if you sériously have these things and remember Christmas for the lights and fire, rather than the actual 'being together.'

Although, I do get a strong impression that Richard/the show's tone is always a bit tongue in cheek saying EXACTLY that, in a 'Won't it be wonderful now that truly lazy people won't have to do all the 'horrible' acts of just existing anymore??' To be fair....a LOT of the 'silly useless Infomercial' junk products that we assume are for terribly rich and lazy useless people, are ACTUALLY put out originally on the market for the ELDERLY and physically handicapped! So upon looking at it from that perspective, suddenly it makes a whole lot of sense why simple everyday tasks (such as pan-cake flipping, or chopping vegetables, or putting a christmas tree star up...) any regular person may do, becomes a staggeringly difficult task when portrayed in these ads on tv. When you realize the studio making those ads is replacing extremely old people or folks with crutches or a wheelchair with standard middle aged housewives, it does make everyone suddenly look easily bamboozled and lazy, when in reality its Hollywood distortion and the natural fact we are taking for granted the miracle of having full working arms and legs and not realizing it!

One usually finds comedy in:
-undercut expectations
-ridiculous contrast
-irony and sarcasm
There is enormous potential for all of that in the mere selection of words. A larger vocab lends itself to craft comedy more precisely and effectively. Not that one has to be multi-syllabic with the jokes, of course. Something that made me chuckle in this episode was:

I personally love richard ayoade's comedy, but I don't think that it saves this glorified commercial. I think he shines a lot more in panel shows and not in ads.

I admire Mr. Ayoade's tweed, but the unfortunate tailoring of the trousers in combination with those Moon Boots™, has afflicted me with the horribles.
Nice to see other men get involved and active in their fashion choices.
I wouldn't dream of using any other tailor than my own, and Im not so pretentious and assholish and terrible to ever actually Recommend a tailor to anyone, but Richard would be impeccable with little tweaks here and there.

Why not just get a Norfolk Island Pine as a christmas tree so it never has to be cut and you can save yourself years of toil with cutting a tree every Christmas? Who needs to cut trees, when you can just grow one. All you do is put water in the pot.
Not as a house plant. They can do fine with lower humidity and slightly cooler temps (even though most houses have central heating).
I keep a small one, they just can't dry out or they die. Otherwise, it would work in the average home.
