THANK YOU SO MUCH for playing this! Angelina, even at 8 yo, puts the song/music and lyrics first. To convey the message of the text and music to the listener. That's what a real artist does! Angelina is a master at this. Then, of course, she has a huge toolbox with various voice tricks to pick out if she wants!

Amazing performance from Angelina. I feel like this is a quantum leap in professionalism from her previous work, which was already incredible. Great reaction, Ace!

Goose bumps. Great reaction, Ace. Most recognize she sings well but not everyone recognizes the detailed quality of her vocals being off the charts. In this competition at 7 and was 8 when it finished with her being the winner singing jazz and blues. There are four songs in this competition. You've done Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday", the first one that got the world's attention. The second one was also a Billie Holiday song, "I'm a Fool To Want You" ua-cam.com/video/6LIcQL5gLoY/v-deo.html , done with no music and we can hear just how much control she has as the other competitors were standing directly behind her on the stage. And she left everyone speechless. I think that one sealed the deal, she would not be scared.

Her first two songs in the competition were covers of Billie Holiday songs. Angelina absolutely LOVES Billie Holiday - she was one of the first jazz musicians that Angelina was “introduced to” when she was TWO!
This song, written by Sonny Bono and made famous by Nancy Sinatra, showed the whole world that she wasn’t just mimicking the sound and style of Billie. This was an absolutely stunning performance. I am always amazed that this tiny eight year old had no compunction to rush through the song. Its slow cadence is unimaginable from such a young child. ❤️👣

Angelina captured the sad mood of this classic song, IMO, better than any other I have heard. Ace, I gained more insight to Angelina understanding human emotion when I watched a video of a segment on 60 Minutes about Alma Deutscher, our current Mozart. Alma completed her first full opera by the age of 10, composing the music for each instrument in the orchestra. No one can deny Alma understood human emotion at a very early age like Angelina, we just don't know exactly how. Would be great to make a reaction to this video about Alma but I fear it would get blocked. ua-cam.com/video/rgeF3EklbFA/v-deo.html

Andy, really glad you discovered Alma. I love the AJ-Alma comparison, even though they are such very different personalities and work in such different genres. Alma may be the most brilliant person I have ever encountered. There are many Alma videos to react to. Here's another short profile: ua-cam.com/video/QbHgDLqWcMM/v-deo.html

@@ClandOp I have yet to truly appreciate opera but love listening to Alma's concertos and waltzes.

@@andyschnell58 If you appreciate Alma, you'll almost certainly love Emily Bear, a prodigy who composes jazz. Quincy Jones has been a huge advocate for her. Take a look: ua-cam.com/video/5JpACC1_jP8/v-deo.html

@@ClandOp I have seen a few videos by Emily Bear and know she was the youngest to perform at Carnegie Hall. I watched one video recently which was more recent and enjoyed it.

Yes, Alma, too, is a prodigy. I discovered her a short time before I discovered Angelina. Fortunately, I have never been blocked when viewing any of Alma's videos, and the one you suggest is the most comprehensive documentary made other life up to that age. I'm hoping that she will release a CD.DVD of her new opera.
