  • It’s no secret that Walmart sells tires with a low price tag. Are Walmart tires good? Or are they more trouble than they’re worth?

Walmart auto centers don't just work on tires, sometimes over an hour or more to repair or replace tires. Cold food can spoil in the wait time. Discount tire only works on tires. I have had a complete 4 tire replacement at DT, with an appointment driving away in 30 minutes from when I got there.Cheaper tires tend to not last as long as more expensive tires, not to mention noise and handling differences no matter where you buy them. What is you and/or your family worth? Neither Walmart or Discount Tire generally lets customers in their work area due to insurance liability.

What the dude doesn't tell you is that the Walmart brand of tires is Douglas. Douglas is an exclusive line of tires owned and made by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, exclusively for Walmart. The only change would be the name on the sidewall and who they were being marketed to - with an exclusive focus on Walmart stores nationwide.

So you are saying that all Goodyear tires are made exactly the same? The cheapest Goodyear's work just as well as their most expensive? Same compounds, belts, etc?

The tires manufactured for Walmart meet at least the minimum D.O.T. safety requirements, they have to by law. A lot of them exceed it. I cant speak for other Walmarts, but ours is horrible. The shop guys move like sloths. Its seems "busy" even when its not. Our Discount Tire is like watching a NASCAR pit crew. I prefer to go there any day of the week. And at 05:53 no, "generally" you look at the door placard to get the correct tire PSI for your vehicle. Anyone watching this video please dont "generally" put 30-32PSI in your tires. Look at the door jamb sticker. Air pressure is associated directly with load capacity, aside from meeting handling performance standards of the vehicle maker . Higher pressure doesn't necessarily mean they can hold more weight. If you have the correct tire size on your vehicle, the air pressure listed on the door jamb should be what you go by. Not "look" or "feel". When you change tire sizes every performance dynamic changes with it. There's a ton more I could list- Ive been to several Michelin and Goodyear classes/seminars. I sold and installed tires, and managed a tire store for years, plus my sister worked at the Goodyear Proving Grounds in San Angelo, Texas until retirement so I had a ton of "insider" knowledge as well.

When I grow tired of having conversations with knowing, intelligent people, I always turn to Y'allTube for content like this.
The answer to how Wally World can sell the same tire at a lower price than, say, Discount Tire Company, is buying power. Wally has 4,609 tire stores; Discount has 1,100. Who do you think will get the better deal from Goodyear, Michelin et al?

Hey @JohnnyJohns-eb9qb! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tuning into my video. Both Goodyear and Michelin are top-tier tire brands known for their quality and performance. The best choice really depends on your specific needs-Goodyear often excels in all-season and performance tires, while Michelin is known for its longevity and fuel efficiency. I think when it comes to tires it's no place for saving money.
