    I am fairly sure that Casino Royale did receive a film-tie-in edition in 2006 for the Daniel Craig version, there's certainly at least one edition with the poster-art.

    Jules I very much enjoyed your wander through the film tie ins and as with your first editions Bond/PAN video found it most interesting - thank you for uploading. I also like your close 'over the shoulder' format where each book can be clearly seen. The Thunderball 'letter' in particular is fascinating. A couple of comments....I believe the die cut 'film strip' on FRWL is just as much a reference to the secret filming of Bond and Tatiana along with being a cinema film which makes this a clever little gimmick. Also you will note that the comma is now dropped from the title - previously it was From Russia, With Love. This innocent little comma puts quite a different nuance on the title. With the comma the impression is that something has been sent from Russia - with love which, in the book, it was - a postcard. Without the comma the impression becomes that it is Bond, returning from Russia (with love) as per the title song even though of course he goes nowhere near Russia. I remember going to see the film long before reading the book and surprised that the setting was Istanbul not Moscow ! Thanks again Jules.

      Thanks so much, glad you're enjoying those Bond videos. I have a new series looking through all the Bond trading cards series, right back to the early 60's sets. A friend of mine has them all. Look for these in March 🙂👍

    That Pan standee is really awesome! I remember when I was putting together my UK Bond tie-ins, that OHMSS was the most difficult to find.

      Indeed, quite a tough one. I have met Lazenby twice but not got the tie in signed. Next time 👍

    Another great video, and you are right about the Donino letter, rare and pricey, Also the edition with the film sprocket cut out is scarce, I think they only did that on the first mti printing, very enjoyable video and great info.

    Ok, so even though this is just over a year after the fact, I wanted to mention that I've got the American versions of four of the adaptations: Thunderball, from Signet with a rendering of Connery and some ladies on the front cover, and a still from the film on the back, License to Kill, but this version has a red cover and a small photo of Dalton as Bond, and Tomorrow Never Dies and Die Another Day with slight variations on the covers. I liked to pause, and compare the covers of the last two and note the differences, it's really interesting. I've also got just the second part of the comic adaptation of For Your Eyes Only, that I came across in a comic-book shop, in the paperback comic form, when I was younger.

      Fantastic, these videos are timeless as the content is historical anyway. It's always cool to compare the different covers, some USA editions are really great, would love to get the OHMSS tie in🙂👍

    Readers must have been scratching their heads when they read You Only Live Twice, after seeing the movie LOL

      It was the first Bond book I read as a kid and I remember being very disappointed that there was no space rocket or volcano or Little Nellie in the book.

    Hi Jules, I just received a movie tie in of Her Majesties Secret Service with the same cover and everything, but it is signet books, is that who published them in the US at the time? I would so love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I have been a fan of that since I was 8 years old.

    • @JulesBurt
      @JulesBurt  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi Sherri, yes, Signet were the USA publishers of all thing Bond from about 1964 onwards. My favourite Bond movie, OHMSS.

      @@JulesBurt that explains something that has confused me. I only have three bond books but they are all Signet. I love that movie too, it is Bond at his most human and I adore Diana Rigg.

    I'm quite surprised at the tie-ins that were NOT done for some of the Bond films. Neither the UK or the US made a tie-in paperback for 'Octopussy', for instance, although I did manage to uncover a German tie-in, believe it or not.
