Rick, check your oil pressure sending unit. It sits just behind the intake manifold. Those 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 engines are notorious for developing a leak there. The oil will run down and appear to be a pan gasket or rear main seal, I have a 2001 silverado and had to replace mine. It registered ok, yet it leaked, you can check it with a small mirror. I enjoy watching your adventures, Danny in Alabama

Really nice video you guys. Always look forward to your next adventure. Very sorry to hear of the loss of your friends. As we get older (I turned 62 and retired this year), we really value our friendships and it's hard when someone moves on to their next life, but as you mentioned, we will see them again. I used to deliver Wonderbread for 10 years and I had a smaller version of the umbrella hat I would wear when it rained (I live in the PNW and it rains a LOT!). It had an elastic band that went around your head. Big enough to keep my head and shoulders dry. Take care and thanks as always for such great content and good vibes! 🙂

OH I would be madder than a hornet that I still had an oil leak. I feel for you. I don't like taking vehicles to mechanics either. But some jobs are just beyond the tools and equipment we have. Definitely gotta love the convenience of our little cargos fitting in places that those large RVs just can't. Oh my gosh! 😆Linda's umbrella hat. What if there's a big wind gust? For Jeff not having an annual route/itinerary, he sure seems to head to the Dakotas and then Q, in convoy with David (The Campulance Man) each year lately. Then after a couple or three months of them and their dogs camping near each other, they part ways.
I was not shocked to hear you lived on a sailboat when young, but WAS shocked to hear you sailed it PNW to Hawaii and around the South Pacific.... with a baby no less! Back in the days before GPS, satellite phones, and accurate weather forecasts for remote ocean areas, that was pretty daring of you two! No wonder that the worst that road trips can throw at you, is taken in stride like it's nothing.
I think you need to tell a scary story or two of the sailing, as well as some of the amazingly good times you must have had.
I'm looking forward to meeting you two someday, and I'm hoping we all stay healthy for long enough that we all of the good people on this channel and others, meet many of each other. My own main in-person contact with the nomadic community is via my occasional visits with Box Van Dee in Quartzsite.

    • @gonagain

We ourselves don't travel full time, but those that do usually have residency in a state like South Dakota where they take care of licensing and insurance needs. It's easy to get South Dakota residency because it only requires one night in a motel and a receipt. You need to go back there once a year to take care of business.

I had the same thing happen to my car. I don't trust these transmission shops. Same thing with two cars and two different shops. Cheaper to sale the car.

That doesn't sound right. Remanufactured GM Transmissions are about $3200 - $4100 plus labor $2000?. A GM reman transmission should come with the pan, and a new gasket already installed. When doing a fluid service only use the GM gasket, not the aftermarket one that comes with replacement filters. I hope you actually got a GM Reman trans and not just your old one rebuilt but the price sounds like rebuilt. If you have a BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) in your area report them. If you find out they didn't do the job correctly you may be due a refund. Good luck, Mike GM ASE Master Technician.

That lense looks like a Fresnel lense. Same type as a lighthouse lense. They will highly focus even a small amount of light into a powerful beam. Might have been a headlight for a locomotive.

I had a u joint issue on my Yukon, mechanic replaced it, a little while later it was bad again and I had a leak so he was going to rebuild it and fix the leak, but he got a different transmission and it never shifted right. I use to do most all of my own work or for a while I had a good mechanic, now days even the dealerships are not worth going to. In the late 1980s I worked at a dealership and learned a lot from some really good techs, now they all seem like they want to use the parts cannon and see if it fixes the issue.
Hope Linda's eyes get better, stay safe and healthy.

I work 20 years as an auto mechanic, and I saw some pretty bad stuff come to my stall from other garages it's hard to find a good honest mechanic.

i had to have a high pressure fuel pump put in in downtown LA. ain't i lucky. 2800 buckazoids. then when i got back to SC my heater was not working well. i checked the water level and it was low. every week i had to put more in it. then it was every couple of days and then everyday. i took it to a man and he said when they installed the fuel pump they did not tighten the hose clamps. so i was losing water. cause of their mistake. again 330.00 to get fixed. i feel your pain cause i been there done that

Hello, just curious how many miles you have on your tow vehicle and trail? I am still towing with our 2007 Dodge Ram but towing a little more weight an wind resistance than you are but we love the amenities that it has. The lake side is spectacular.

As a tow vehicle, we've put over 100,000 miles on the 2002 Yukon. It's also our only vehicle so it works hard for us.

It's been my experience that finding an honest ship or mechanic is nearly impossible. I'm not talking about the price they charge to work on your care. Cars now days are a pain in the ass to fix. I'm talking about putting in parts you don't need because they simply can't figure out what is wrong with your car so they throw parts at it hoping to fix it and it doesn't. They do this so they can charge you for shop time in so they don't take a loss for the time they took trying to diagnose the problem. This has happened to me over and over. I could spend days telling you about how I've been ripped off. And when I was young I did ALL OF my cars repairs including rebuilding engines and transmissions so I know what I'm talking about. I'm sure there are good honest mechanics out there......but I can't find one.

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  4 місяці тому

Some repair are too hard on us physically so we have to take it to a shop. A good honest mechanic is hard to find when you are used to doing your own repair and maintenance on your vehicles.
