But we have to make everyone feel like a winner, and besides, you have already won many times. Thumbs up for SawStop, fantastic that they will replace something like that free of charge 👍 With regards the judging, sadly a lot of the current generations are swaddled in cotton wool, they cannot handle rejection or failure, nobody is told they've failed in case it hurts their feelings. I can understand that others may not have a chance to win if the same highly skilled person keeps on entering, but that's life, deal with it! A perfect example of the above is one of my nephews, complaining that it was hard going having to work five days a week, needless to say my sister and I just shook our heads. I'm not sure what to say about the fair entry either other than, this is two years in a row that something shifty happened with this new judge. Kenny, that crafts segment is ridiculous. I can understand your view and I do believe it usually comes down to who you know. It does discourage people who are talented or go above and beyond and fall to someone who is not deserving or just because they know someone. Unfortunately that’s the world we live in. If enough people stood up and raised a fuss, then things would change. Anyway, a live stream would be different.
Hi Ken, hard to believe that your entry into the fair got 3rd place compared to the 1st & 2nd place entries, not a good way to promote a competition in my mind. I know how much work & pride goes into building the new excavator, as I showed you the one that I made last year, pretty sad, don’t blame you one bit for not entering in the future. I purchased the Compact Saw Stop table saw last fall, safety was the main reason. I was told about the free replacement cartridge should something happen, fortunately I haven’t had any issues yet, but I do keep a spare just in case. Really enjoy your shows🙂

I've always had a "back up" brake just in case but thought I would never need it. While it's great to have SawStop replace the brake cartridge at no cost, there is still a waiting time to get the new cartridge and during that time, your table saw is out of commission. No brake, no saw. So a back up is a must in my opinion. Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your question.
Hi Ken, Yes a live show would be great. Which time zone are you in? The results of the judging of entries are ludicrous; not to take anything away from the winning entry, and maybe if it was in a certain category, deserved a placing, but to be placed in 1st place as the outright winner of a competition where exhibits such as yours are entered is, to say the least, ridiculous. I am sure there would be other entrants, equally concerned about the discerning results. I would imagine there will be other exhibitors taking the same action as you and I feel the contest will lose much of its appeal and quite a few of its entrants.

I can't recall the second and third places last year Bob. I do know that I took first place in the wooden toy division but got disqualified in the "wooden article" division because the judge stated that I had already entered something similar. He was referring to my wooden toy that took first place. The scale model of the X-wing got disqualified even though it met all the requirements of the category. The category was "one wooden article, not to exceed 24"x24" but the judge last year decided to make up his own rules and disqualify the entry. It is definitely a very crooked style of judging in my opinion. I'm not bitter, I'm just done with it. Thanks for tuning in sir.
I heard you and understand the organizer you found works. What are chances, a year or two from now, you go down the rabbit hole of building a wooden bench top organizer? Maybe even divide into separate organizers of the objects that go together and make sense. Live streams are cool but you already answer every comment and are interacting more than the off-the-hip and very arbitrary replying on streams. It also takes time to stream on a schedule and get people to come back and gain numbers.
You're not wrong about the streaming. I'm looking at about 2 live streams a year and I am fully aware that they would most likely be viewed by the masses AFTER the live stream is over. That's why I plan on having a few topics lined up to chat about so hopefully, the show will still be informative after the live stream is done. I like your idea of a bench top organizer. As I said to another viewer who had the same thoughts as you pretty much, I plan on having a few topics lined up to chat about and talk about technique etc. So when there are no questions being asked, I can chat about Scroll saw blade selection (for example) and then possibly do a follow up show (recorded and edited) to answer any questions or concerns that viewers had on the topic. It's in the planning and testing stage at the moment and if I did do live broadcasts, it would most likely only be a couple a year. I've got way too much going on to do any more than that. And of course, the live broadcast would be posted as a regular show as well so if you wanted to, you could always skim it and see if there was anything of interest. Thanks again for your honesty on the topic. I truly appreciate you tuning in and I also appreciate you input.
@@acutabove_woodworkings When I watch your shows, I set playback speed to 2x and dont think I miss anything important. Try it yourself sometime and you might find 2x playback very watchable. I am probably way oversubscribed to many channels which interest me so I must find a way to fit them in. 2x often works but some channels the max is 1.5. Many friends do the same.
And in my opinion as well Paul. As I stated in the show, when craftsmanship and skill are removed as a determining factor in this sort of competition, it becomes nothing more than a random distribution of ribbons based on who the judge knows or how they are feeling that day. Interesting!!!! Didn't Know that about the saw brake. Very fair. The County Fair, I believe is against you. Suggestion, if you don't have a grandchild or display to give your built toy to, try a Pre-School or Public school and give the toy as a gift. As far as "live show" ok, just not too many. I want to learn tricks of the trade and see some of the items that you build and how you build it. Especially, when you don't have a lathe, laser printer for wood, or other special equipment. Maybe a show on what you recommend as a start-up for shop toy building. Also, what brand name tools names you would recommend for those of us who don't have deep pockets.😏 Hope my thoughts help.
Another place to look at organizers is crafters, they have all sorts of stuff, Cricut users have paper organizers, which can be used for sandpaper, etc.
Gday Kenny, Interesting video. On your last comment thinking of doing a live one sounds really good, However. I am in Australia and I think you are in Canada and your country has lots of different time zones as I understand it. I think we are around 16 hours apart.. I agree with doing all the "shout outs" to folks who tune in. I find it boring so my plan at the moment is to have several topics to chat about for when no one is asking questions and that way, we still have an informative live show where folks can learn something. In regards to the Saw Stop brake, do you hold a backup brake just in case?

Interesting!!!! Didn't Know that about the saw brake. Very fair. The County Fair, I believe is against you. Suggestion, if you don't have a grandchild or display to give your built toy to, try a Pre-School or Public school and give the toy as a gift. As far as "live show" ok, just not too many. I want to learn tricks of the trade and see some of the items that you build and how you build it. Especially, when you don't have a lathe, laser printer for wood, or other special equipment. Maybe a show on what you recommend as a start-up for shop toy building. Also, what brand name tools names you would recommend for those of us who don't have deep pockets.😏 Hope my thoughts help.

Another place to look at organizers is crafters, they have all sorts of stuff, Cricut users have paper organizers, which can be used for sandpaper, etc.

Gday Kenny, Interesting video. On your last comment thinking of doing a live one sounds really good, However. I am in Australia and I think you are in Canada and your country has lots of different time zones as I understand it. I think we are around 16 hours apart.. I would be interested in attending but the time would have to suit me and if I miss it I will definately watch the replay if you leave it online. I wish you all the best with it. I enjoyed your update segment of this show. it is a good idea as I watch all of your shows and I find them all interesting.

Hi Kenny i always watch your videos with interest but i do not watch live shows because for me it is just a waste of time. i watched some and all they were was a comment of who was there and where they were from. i am so fedup with this that i do not watch if it is live so if you do one i will not be intereacting with that video.
Thank you for your honesty John. The show will be posted after the live broadcasts so you can skim through it and see if there is anything of interest to you. I agree with doing all the "shout outs" to folks who tune in. I find it boring so my plan at the moment is to have several topics to chat about for when no one is asking questions and that way, we still have an informative live show where folks can learn something. Maybe even spawn some new show ideas and follow up (regular) videos to demonstrate things that were discussed. Once again, I appreciate your honesty. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
