Same with me. Plus, since Accords sell like crazy every year, this design will get hugely publicized and normalized very quickly. Same thing happened with the 2016 redesign of the Civic. Honda is in their stride right now, honestly.
Like a tumour Jk lol It looks a LOT better in person. We went to a dealership to inquire for a Type R ( were not going to buy thought just wanted to have fun and test drive ) and we saw the accord, front looks perfect, but I still think the rear end needs some work
Katy just got shaded from edmunds lol. With that being said, I do like how this looks. I applaud both Honda and Toyota for baking in some emotions into their major sellers.
Honestly, as a Honda fanboy when I first saw the unveiling, the styling seemed underwhelming to me, whilst the new Camry seemed to destroy it styling wise. However it's honestly growing on me every time I see it. It's a handsome car.
Every time I see this new accord I think it's not that bad. Than I look at the 2017 model and realize that the old one is just overall more elegant and sharp.
IMO the new one looks like a daddy car more than the old one. The only thing that is better about the new design is the headlights and the front besides the fact that it's a bit big in height.
Great review and I love the fact at the end. I didn't know that! Super cool for a Honda fan like myself. I think Honda hit it out of the park with this Accord!
I have a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T and this car is awesome! I look forward to driving it every single day. Can't wait to see what Honda has in store for the redesign coming 1st quarter of '23.....supposedly.
Great review on a great car. I recently bought a 2018 Accord Hybrid Touring (in Modern Steel), and LOVE it. The engine is smooth, it is plenty powerful when needed (I unintentionally spun the tires pulling out into traffic), the eCVT is smooth and always ready, and this car is quiet. However, I will say that the 47/47/47 mpg rating is not accurate. I got 55.7 mpg city mpg today and average in the HIGH 40s and low 50s when combined. It has so much technology. Everyday I'm learning new things it can do. This is a FANTASTIC car. Great looks (MANY compliments on the color and the car's looks from friends and strangers), superb quality and a quiet and luxurious ride. And it's a FUN car to drive. I may have to add stabilizer to the gas tank since I go so long before filling up.
This car looks amazing and has a lot of presence. Butch yet sophisticated. Kind of like a cross between a Volvo S90 and a BMW 5-Series. Chris Bangle would love it. For once, the wheels of a new Honda pair well with the body styling, although I'd hate to see what one with the smaller 17" wheels would look like. The interior looks elegant and sophisticated - makes the Camry's asymmetrical center dash/console look silly by comparison.
The beak is back. A push button transmission that saves zero space. An opportunity to put in a sport hatch (the profile is there) but you kept the trunk.
@1:59 "You're never waiting for the turbo boost to ramp in. It's always right there" Well, not exactly. There is a delay, albeit brief. The power is not instant. It is near-instant. And when in Sport mode, the power comes on a bit sooner. This is due to Sport mode maintaining lower gears (at the cost of fuel economy). Not mentioned is that those 19" wheels, combined with their low profile (less sidewall) tires and a beefy suspension, result in a car that handles very, very good. That car will take hard turns better than it looks, and faster than most folks would ever try (especially in Sport mode, because the suspension stiffens more in Sport mode).
I just bought the 2.0 Turbo sport I just put a K Pro tuner on it and I'm already over 300 horsepower and 300 foot pounds of torque just by doing that nothing else I had a 17 CBT 2.4 which I could do nothing to you and I was disappointed in the performance this car rides better looks better has a more upscale fill than my other car ever did some people don't even know what their car is when I tell him it's a Honda Accord it blows their mind when I open the doors they were amazed how nice and upscale it looks over the previous generation
This Accord looks like any other car I.e Civic, sonata, impala. The new Camry has unique styling and non turbo engines. It looks elegant in person. There's a reason why Camry is the best selling in America and the world after the Corolla.
I saw one today and liked it. Base model auto with a gear stick. The floating ipad looking screen really works in person stylistically....the interior is spartan and smart, just like an accord ought to be. The exterior and size....its shorter, 300lbs lighter, with a wider stance...I LOVE THIS. i didn't hate the big ol sedan path they been on since 08, but i like this oath they went back down. Its presence is reminiscent of that bratty genius it used to be back in the day, and the engine follows the trend. I like the bold idea to turbo up some refined 4's, instant street cred. So yes i want one. I have an 08 v6 now, not the best accord but i like it. Sad to see the v6 go, but a 4 door 6 speed turbo is a great replacement. Worries. Turbos dont last so well right? Hate to see accords breaking at 100k, so lets see how that shit goes down. Fingers crossed. The front lights are awesome, but it seems like the design on the whole is somewhat contradicting itself from one place to another. It could look better, BUT, that strange and somewhat ugly look is somehow respectable for what this car is. Buy me one please. Or Honda, may i please have one? Im poor but loyal for twenty years.
yea it's pretty different but they share a lot of basic parts. I currently have a transmission issue in mine, hoping the Accord transmission brings something that we can use as a fix
You love your type R? Id get this w/ the 2.0 6MT and chip it to pour out the power of the type R. Slap some red badges and red belts on and call it a day.
mountainhobo I emailed Jason and he said that he didn't have any knee issues at all. He did say to keep in mind that his legs are shorter for his height (32" inseam).
The price of the Accord went up quite a bit, because with the redesign, Honda essentially stopped doing any sort of sales or leasing incentives. MSRP might have only gone up a little bit, but MSRP isn't the real price of the car. It's a very nice car, with a ton of features that would have been considered luxury features just one generation ago, but you're definitely going to pay for it, compared to other brands that haven't just done a redesign, or even compared to Toyota, which just redesigned the Camry, but which is more willing to wheel and deal to maintain its spot as the #1 selling mid sized sedan.
I've been reading some negative comments about the exterior styling of the 2018 and I admit I like the prior model design a bit more...especially the rear. HOWEVER, i did take a test drive in the 1.5 Touring and fell in love with the ride and the amenities. I have a 2014 Sport and have owned Accords since the 80's...so I'm very prejudiced. This is a 1st class vehicle and in this class I don't think you'll find a better car. I pick mine up tomorrow !!
Reminiscent of a 5 series from a couple years ago. The hood shut lines are squared off when the design language of the front end is sweeping...other than that it's cool.
WHY do reviewers always review the highest trim that only a FEW people can afford to buy????????? I dare you to review the lowest trim that MOST people can afford to buy!!!
If they can make it into a hatchback like Bimmer GT or A7, then it would be so much more useful for me who hauls a lot of stuff for work but doesn’t want a SUV.
Top 5 problems 2018 Accord : (1) CVT not a transmission all models but 2.0 Touring. And that one has no gear shift knob and only gets 22 mpg city. (2 ) Turbo 4 cylinders fraught with reliability issues as Autotrader states Turbo are add-on to engine which generates great heat and great RPM costing thousands repair after powertrain warranty. (3) Not a single Accord model 2018 has a 360 degree bird’s eye top-down panoramic view back-up camera like Acura advanced, Camry, etc. (4) Blind spot with cross traffic does not stop Accord 2018 if car cuts across your rear bumper you can not see but Camry does. (5) No side curtain air bag in 2018 Accord for the rear seat. There are 25 more problems 2018 Accord. Reply and ask and I will post them for you since I have studied the 2018 Accord owner’s manual completely and driven this POS.
Thanks for the Post where did you get information about the 2018 Accord Hybrid that's the car I'm really waiting for and that's probably going to be my next car thanks
Where do your elbows rest when youre driving? I have a 2016 accord ex-l and I've been bummed that the center console and left door panel arm rests are too low for me to really rest my arms on them.
Jason Kavanagh of Edmunds described the design expertly. He knows car design. More adult and sophisticated. The back is indeed reminiscent of the Audi A7. The design expresses a standout confidence and maturity.
I believe there are some downside feathers to the 2018 Accord that Jason neglected to mention. To name just a few, Jason didn't mention that the alloy wheels stick out further than the tires so when you're parallel parking and you get too close to the curb, instead of brushing the tires you damage the expensive alloy wheels. That's only the beginning. Whenever you go in for service, they'll want to rotate your tires for free. Of course! That will put another wheel in position to be damaged while parking. They’re not so dumb. Alloy wheels are around $200+ each. This one is for men. With a suit or sports jacket on, try to connect your seat belt. The connector is down between the seat and the center counsel so it’s very hard to do, bad design. Be careful doing straight in perpendicular parking. Chances are very good that you will scrape the bottom of your car on the curb before the front wheels touch the curb. And by all means don't bump into anything more rigid than a beach ball. The whole front end is plastic. Are you surprised that Jason didn't mention any of this? I'm not. One more thing, and if you don’t laugh you have no sense of humor. Did you notice the speedometer? It goes to 160 mph. The car’s engine is red-lined at around 100 mph. I think it has to do with Toyota’s speedometer that goes to 140 mph. I wonder if the designers figured that Honda owner will get more girls with a higher number on the speedometer. You should ask. Thanks, Jason, for the tour.
I'm not completely sold on this new accord. There things i like and things i dislike. Hopefully they do some changes to the front end on the 2019 model.
yonda ila really? I own a 2015 civic ex with a cvt and sometimes it forgets that i'm wide open throttle telling it to go! Lol yes it is boring as hell! Nothing sporty about it is ment for fuel economy, nothing fun about it
How can anyone in their right mind say that the plastic chrome front grill looks good? Its Fugly. The rear profile of the vehicle does not match the front profile. Just matching the wierdness of the front lights to the rear ones does not "balance" a car.
Your review sounds like from a honda sales man. Why don't you talk some negative sides of this car like center arm rest is hard leather, no panaromic sunroof like Camry's, does not show the tire pressure and so on. Edmund you need to give honest reviews not talk like a salesman from Honda dealer.
NO, I DON"T want 19" wheels on the top trim. Would rather an option for smaller wheels and a better ride. Also, the center console is WAY TOO high. I can't move my right leg to the right while on cruise going down the highway. I feel boxed in. This will be more obvious as you drive the car on longer trips (sounds like you drove it for a couple of hours, not sure if that was continuous or not)
Hey Apple phone user: that "funny symbol" if the NFC logo. Perhaps Apple will invent too in future, just like they recently invented wireless charging.
I actually like the new looks I wasn’t a fan but it grown on me
Same with me. Plus, since Accords sell like crazy every year, this design will get hugely publicized and normalized very quickly. Same thing happened with the 2016 redesign of the Civic. Honda is in their stride right now, honestly.

Honda is fun again like the 90s. Im going to have to get that 2.0t!
Katy just got shaded from edmunds lol. With that being said, I do like how this looks. I applaud both Honda and Toyota for baking in some emotions into their major sellers.
craig doss I wasn’t ready!!! 🤣🤣🤣
whos Katy
Honda because it has a manual
Bought the 2.0T Touring last week and so far I love it!
Hey, how's it going?
the 10 speed debutted in the Odyssey if I remember.
In the long run won’t the turbo go out compared to a non turbo engine? Asking for a friend 😝
Honestly, as a Honda fanboy when I first saw the unveiling, the styling seemed underwhelming to me, whilst the new Camry seemed to destroy it styling wise. However it's honestly growing on me every time I see it. It's a handsome car.
You may want to see a Dr you sound like your sick!-Handsome car PLEASE???
I'll hold on to my 9th gen for a long time.
The more I see this car the more I like it ! Definitely my next car .
Every time I see this new accord I think it's not that bad. Than I look at the 2017 model and realize that the old one is just overall more elegant and sharp.
THEGAMINGHELP101 The old one looks like a daddy car honestly
IMO the new one looks like a daddy car more than the old one. The only thing that is better about the new design is the headlights and the front besides the fact that it's a bit big in height.
THEGAMINGHELP101 you right the 2017 is way better. And the touring 2017 come with the headlights like the Acura. The 2018 is one ugly accord.
The 10-speed automatic transmission debuted in the already-launched Honda Odyssey!
It looks so nice in person. I initially disliked it from seeing it online. But looking at it in person was a huge change.
Great review and I love the fact at the end. I didn't know that! Super cool for a Honda fan like myself. I think Honda hit it out of the park with this Accord!
I wouldn't call the front ugly, though it's a bit odd. The tailights however are just strange proportionwise.
pacman tail lights
@Pacman World 2 Lol
I have a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T and this car is awesome! I look forward to driving it every single day. Can't wait to see what Honda has in store for the redesign coming 1st quarter of '23.....supposedly.
2:55 Best part of this Accord review, the rear seat space and leg room.
Those LED headlights are gorgeous.
$ 1,600.oo each ...
Honda did a good job with this generation this is the best they ever did 🎉🎉❤❤❤
Great review on a great car. I recently bought a 2018 Accord Hybrid Touring (in Modern Steel), and LOVE it. In my opinion this is one of the best presentation of the 2018 Honda Accord .the almighty will give me one this Accord 2.0 touring .
I really wish Edmunds brought back the inside line videos like track testing and head to head comparisons.
I'm buying a white one next week. It's beautiful
My 2.0T Touring is coming in Friday night. Can't wait!

Camry only comes in autotragic, for people with zero driving ability..
Im glad they changed the design, thats the only thing that held me back from buying one in the past.
I saw one today and liked it. Base model auto with a gear stick. The floating ipad looking screen really works in person stylistically....the interior is spartan and smart, just like an accord ought to be.

I think in Sport trim it looks great! The fact that it has the 2.0 T from the Type R (that I currently own) is pretty cool as well.
FlyinGato they changed so much of the engine for this car I really wouldn't call it the same engine
yea it's pretty different but they share a lot of basic parts. I currently have a transmission issue in mine, hoping the Accord transmission brings something that we can use as a fix
FlyinGato whats the issue with the type r tranny?
Car looks great hope the transmission better than the last few
You love your type R? Id get this w/ the 2.0 6MT and chip it to pour out the power of the type R. Slap some red badges and red belts on and call it a day.
Jason, how was the right knee room? The center console divider seems rather wide, and it's a concern for me (6'3"). Very nice review, btw.
mountainhobo I emailed Jason and he said that he didn't have any knee issues at all. He did say to keep in mind that his legs are shorter for his height (32" inseam).
I loveee it the 2.0t is the best in the game

I'll keep my '14. Awful fail on the front. What is the point of the turbos? Mpg aren't really better.
I agree 100 % that this looks just like a7 body first thing I said when I got mine but 30 thousand less and mine is very fast love it.
I bought 2018 was very very nice i like very much
My friends said wow very beautify.
Does it comes with a AT or a CVT? AND in comparison with 2016 Accord what would you say about both them?
My mom says it looks like someone smooshed the back
cant wait for the altima

it looks incredible in life
WHY do reviewers always review the highest trim that only a FEW people can afford to buy????????? I dare you to review the lowest trim that MOST people can afford to buy!!!
The 10 speed debuted in the Odyssey. It’s a first for front wheel drives though.
Chris M The Odyssey is front wheel drive.
Iggi Valencia I meant front wheel drive car I guess.
I don't like fastback design. It just doesn't fit the character of the Accord.
Any idea how a front plate is positioned? The front sensor is right in the middle where you'd expect a plate to be.
If they can make it into a hatchback like Bimmer GT or A7, then it would be so much more useful for me who hauls a lot of stuff for work but doesn’t want a SUV.

No journalist has driven the 1.5. I've watched like 5 videos of this new accord
Luke Hoisington no one wants to review a ctv car
TheDustyaman your very wrong I’ve seen a lot of reviews on the cvt car!
Doesn't the 2.0T also have a cvt engine?
supra2k8 no 10 speed auto
I thought even the 10 speed auto was still a CVT, just not the manual or the old V6. That's good to hear, since I'm trying to avoid the cvt for now.
Jason Kavanagh of Edmunds described the design expertly. He knows car design. More adult and sophisticated. The back is indeed reminiscent of the Audi A7. The design expresses a standout confidence and maturity.

Honda Accords have had 160 mph only speedometer since 2003..
4:57 awesome! Lol!
Does any of the 2018 Honda accords come with (or optional) a heated steering wheel?
Why does nobody know what NFC is, still...?
I like it a lot
I'm not completely sold on this new accord. There things i like and things i dislike. Hopefully they do some changes to the front end on the 2019 model.
At 4:15 why is only one daytime running light on?
that shot at katy perry lol
Overall a good car. But;
• I hate that button transmission.
• Sad that they discontinued V6.
Don't like the front. Too much chrome. But if you get the blackened chrome option, it looks better. Also, like the optional rims better.
Do you know if the car will have better horsepower if high octane is used, like the Mazda CX-9?
jpmackin I haven't heard anyone say. I have the new CX-9, awesome SUV and I run 93 octane
Is there a more powerful engine available?
Nice car but at that price I might as well get the Kia Stinger
The Katy Perry shade!!!!
Where is the gear on this car?
Sounds like a paid advertisement
they even make sure that the video is not taken from angles which makes this model look super Fugly.
Americans are fake people... Fake smiles... Fake reviews...
@@Efreet17 Humans are fake creatures, fake thoughts, fake reality.
Good car
Back end looks like an old model civic ....
Is the 1.5t model going to have the 10spd auto as well or a boring cvt?
Abel S550 GT both
The cvt is not boring on Honda’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yonda ila really? I own a 2015 civic ex with a cvt and sometimes it forgets that i'm wide open throttle telling it to go! Lol yes it is boring as hell! Nothing sporty about it is ment for fuel economy, nothing fun about it
yonda ila but in this case i think the 2.0 with the 10spd auto and 6sp manual will be the big sellers lets see
How can anyone in their right mind say that the plastic chrome front grill looks good? Its Fugly. The rear profile of the vehicle does not match the front profile. Just matching the wierdness of the front lights to the rear ones does not "balance" a car.
I wonder what the front grill would look like after it is plasti dipped.
Those wheels look like wheel covers. They stretch too far out of the tire. Look out when parking curbside, ouchh...
First good looking Accord ever and one of the few I'd consider since the Prelude days.
That Katy Perry diss tho😂
which trim has button gear shift ?? anybody?
김선재 any trim with the 2.0 t 10 speed
Your review sounds like from a honda sales man. Why don't you talk some negative sides of this car like center arm rest is hard leather, no panaromic sunroof like Camry's, does not show the tire pressure and so on. Edmund you need to give honest reviews not talk like a salesman from Honda dealer.
New Camry is better and faster. Also, they still offer the V6. What say ye you Honda fan boys?
Nice!!!!
Katy Perry just got slammed! Oml lmao
...well for that kind of money lots of people will get the V6 Camry.....;-),,,,,,,,,,,
leave it to the aftermarket to come up with a unibrow delete kit
The front look hideous. The same styling on the Civic but looks good on the Civic.
NO, I DON"T want 19" wheels on the top trim. Would rather an option for smaller wheels and a better ride.
Also, the center console is WAY TOO high. I can't move my right leg to the right while on cruise going down the highway.
I feel boxed in.
This will be more obvious as you drive the car on longer trips (sounds like you drove it for a couple of hours, not sure if that was continuous or not)
Hola buenas tardes le escribo por qué me en canta este carro

Looking for a used car and I have to say push button shifting is totally unacceptable. Goodbye Honda. Hello Mazda. Sad to leave after so many years.
This car is so very sexy looking.
Hondas confuse bold for beauty, where as of late lexus is a true example of bold and beatiful.
Looks like west Virginia countryside.
I liked last years model better
I like the last model but not the very last year with the excessive chrome everywhere.
I like the 2016-2017 better I think it's a very sexy body style but the 2018 is very luxurious inside as well the outside is starting to grow on me
The body style lives on in the tlx and rlx, but they'll run you a few more stacks than the accord
Hey Apple phone user: that "funny symbol" if the NFC logo. Perhaps Apple will invent too in future, just like they recently invented wireless charging.
No HP numbers?
clubracer6 252 hp 273 torque
Those numbers are underrated. The real numbers are probably closer to 280-285hp and 300 torque.

Why I need 19". For a look?
