Home Girl is holding down those high notes on the back row! This reminds me of The Southeastern Singing Convention that we used to have at Hawes Chapel Baptist Church when I was a child.
The wonderful thing about the dynamic of the African American Church during the 1930s to 1960s era is that the church was full of folks that are the same as the ones singing in this video because of their Connection in faith and hardship they believed that together they could face Society challenges and serve the Lord and take care of each other
Yessuh! Sang the song. Brings back memories of church service in an old church with an out of tune piano but an in tuned people...filled with the spirit!
Every time I view this short (but powerful) clip, I'm like WOW!! And these kids today really think they can sing and hold an audience. 😂😂😂 They had the unity of a choir, with each, personal presentation of a soloist.❤❤❤
And you don't get that without WORK!!! These people today just pull up UA-cam videos of current artists to copy from. These ladies OBVIOUSLY put in WORK!!!
I want to say thank you to whoever took the time to put this video on . I never heard this gospel group before . What a treasure of jewels hidden that have been uncovered for us to view and be inspired through . The Glory goes to Jesus ! thank you .
Top: Betty Hollins and Liz Dargan (Lead Singer) Bottom: Elaine Davis and MIldred Span This group later sang with Inez Andrews and became the Andrewettes
They are amazing! Reminds me of the many times I saw the great gospel programs here in Brooklyn New York that Brother Charlie Storey put on at his auditorium on Macon Street. Charlie LaRocco
Yess That is Betty Hollins ( I think) she sang with the Southern California Community Choir with James Cleveland In 1972 for the recording of Aretha Franklins “Amazing Grace” Album
I've been searching for this song all over God's heaven. Thank-you, this is a preaching song and is going to go well with all the other sets of songs I sing. Thank you very much for posting this clip.
i look at these beautiful women of God and am taken waaaaaaaay back (in such an awesome way) to a time when people didn't have much, but our praises reflected our appreciation of what we DID have....how incredible this is! God bless you for this "throwback" post 2close2heaven86
I LOVE THIS,THESE WOMEN ARE SINGING. I HAVE BEEN STUCK ON THE DAVIS SISTERS, BECAUSE I CAN FEEL THE ANOINTING IN THEIR VOICES. BUT I FEEL THESE WOMEN TOO!!! THIS SANGING TO ME. I LOVE THIS
Anybody notice it only took 2 minutes to get a song across back in the day??? Why does it take 10 minutes now and the song still goes nowhere??? These old school songs had OIL on them. OIL takes effect immediately.
A very young LIZ DARGAN here with the former Inez Andrews Singers!! Miss my sister from Baltimore, Maryland, Childhood friends sang at home together!! ETERNAL LOVE, ARCHBISHOP CARL BEAN
@4IceBreaker you are soooooo right about that!!! if you look at these women as are they are singing, you can CLEARLY tell they are singing unto GOD and not man...they are just "flat out" singing without all that UNNECESARY, EXCESSIVE AND SOMETIMES RIDICULOUS SCATTIN' AND CROONING (that some/and not all) of our gospel artists have adopted today....which has really turned gospel music into ENTERTAINMENT instead of true praise!! give me these sisters and others alike ANYDAY!!!
back then it seems like groups always had 2 Sopranos or more lol except the lady thats singing whose Alto .. the other 3 were really high Sopranos ! very powerful ... but the Alto lead had to really go within to stand up against those three ! WoW they have pipes !
Thanks so much for bringing this back! I love the move the woman in the back makes at 1.01. Does anyone know where I can buy this as an MP3 or CD? Amazon doesn't have it. Thanks again.
Man, if this was currently who representing our praise teams.. Deliverance would be more prominent and the signs, miracles and wonders that we talk about would follow
dont mean to be on here tellin jokes but she reminds me of big ma' with the bad wig from the number # 1 choir....idk the worst the wig was the better she sung.
If your soul is asleep this will wake it up 🇺🇲
my husband jimmy grew up in this as a very young child and remembers this song ❤
This song is so prophetic and powerful!!!!! The storm (whatever you’re going through/facing) is passing over! Hallelujah!
You called it! It Gets me together every single time. Full of Encouragement and Promise it is!!!
That four people could sing this hard and it still be beautifully melodic is somewhat of a musical miracle. All four of them are singing for BLOOD!
