I got a power smart mower, just a push model for doing around a fig tree. It had carb problems the 3rd time I used it. They painted the carb inside and out. The paint came loose from the gas and clogged jets. I cleaned it, wire brushed the inside housing. Ran good since.had it two years now. I prime it a lot more, does well
Honestly, I don't really like watching really short videos. I really just watch the ones that have a particular machine that I am interested in. UA-cam shows me the length of a video before I watch it. If a video is too long, then I will wait until I have time. My primary reason for watching is to learn about machines that I have not encountered before, or to learn something about a machine that I already own. I have heard several UA-camrs make similar statements regarding the lack of attention spans. I enjoy the way you explain things, but I generally stay away from channels that only do really short videos, and I am sure that not the only one.
I have this one.I clean or replace the carb every year. Lost one of the governer springs .southland uses the exact engine in their field trimmer so I measured a spring off southland, bought it off amazon. One issue is the walk behind speed is pretty fast but that could be partly due to the engine revving faster then I'd like.
Honestly Powersmart is a throwaway brand. Once their stuff breaks, that is it. Their customer service is really bad and it is near impossible to get new parts. Just ask Taryl Fixes All, he recently did a snowblower brand video and he gives his thoughts of what he thinks of Powersmart
I agreed on the Customer Service, I did everything but drive there in person! finally found belt for my 22" RWD at NAPA $24. Mower runs like new, mine has been great, and yesterday I got a response from Powersmart/AMERISUN apologizing that took so long(weeks)& they sent me a free belt by FED ex. Didn't bother telling them I'd already found one at NAPA, I just said THANK you.
So glad you did this video. Thie exact mower I have. Something on it breaks every time I take it out. I have an extended warranty and the company was sending me parts pretty regularly. But then the wait times on the phone line got to be over an hour just to get a part. I complained to the agent, suddenly the Customer Service Manager named Stanley Young jerked the phone out of the agents hand and started yelling immediately, cursing like some kind of ghetto thug about them doing a good job and I had no right to complain. He ended his tirade by saying he will no longer sell me parts, even though I paid for a warranty. I'm definitely going to sue them.

I've had my 22" Powersmart 190cc RWD NO PRIME Paper filter which I got at Wal-Mart for $200 since 2019 & it has worked hard on rough terrain, hit rocks, hilly, thick high grass, a real workhorse! No problems at all until last week the belt broke & getting response from company has been zilch. Hoping to find a belt that fits! Otherwise mine has been a great mower on my huge yard & my neighbors huger yard. I love this mower. And for $200 for a RWD 22" mower, well...I've gotten my $ worth for sure. UPDATE: Found BELT for 22" finally at NAPA $24. Put it on with new blade & it is better than NEW! And Powersmart sent me email yesterday(weeks later)that they were sorry & were sending me a complimentary belt. Instead of getting snarky saying "too late" I just replied "thank you" & they did send it by FED EX. So it will hang in my garage in case. P.S. there was a tiny pebble stuck in drive flywheel that made belt slip. Its been a great mower tho. And is now again.
Seems 21" most problems but just wanted somewhere to tell 22" owners WHERE TO GET A BELT! Was very frustrating! NAPA($24)but u have to go in person with old belt, over phone they'll say no such thing. Run fingers over drive flywheel too, a tiny pebble stuck in it caused belt to come off after mowing super high tough quack grass. New belt, new blade & just like new mower again.
Hello thanks for the awsem videos I really enjoy them great job. I to have had one of those China mowers the quality is not the same as a brand name mower the wheels an I found just the way it runs is not the same

Probably a Huayi carburetor. These are Chonda engines and are pretty decent believe it or not. If after cleaning carburetor, it is surging, drilling out the pilot let with micro drill bit will fix surge. I work on Chondas (Chinese Honda clones) all the time. It is a cheaply made mower no doubt, and longevity is highly suspect.
Hi my friend I don't even know your name, but I've been working on one of those powerfarts myself, it sounds exactly like that one, I've cleaned the carb, adjusted the valves, new plug and it ran fine one day and the next won't start again, it seems like I've wasted time. Any comments
They just suck, I don't think I would keep it to be honest. You can try replace the carb, but after that, you're just wasting your time and money. It's like a "knock off" item, you used to hear about. They look like a mower, they even sound like one, but they don't last like one. Hope that helps out David Pruitt.
You gave me a couple of good laughs haha. I agree with what you said throughout and at the end of the video, I would prefer a quality used mower compared to a cheaply made new one. Also wait until you see the all-electric mowers and the wheels those have...not going to last at all. Parts for these Powersmart machines also is something to be concerned about.
Ran this mower once and hit a partially hidden brick. The spindle and blade adapter plate were damaged. Powersmart wont answer emails and will not answer phone calls. Wouldn't be surprised if the company is going belly up.
I hear the snowblowers are just as bad as the pushers if not worse. Seems home depot sold a bunch of them. Never worked on one but I bet it's hard to get parts for it? Another throw away mower which is sad our landfill is so full as it is :( Also happy to hear you replace your plugs and your right they aren't to expensive a lot of people clean and clean them and just are to cheap to buy one. Love watching your videos as I do learn new things and techniques which are helpful.
If that’s one of those Powermore engines they have a bad rep for throwing rods and having internal problems. Not all engines from China are of poor quality however, for example the Loncin engines built for Toro are superb. I actually prefer the Loncin over Briggs Quantum and even Honda GCV-160, in fact I just swapped in a Loncin for the perfectly good Quantum on one of my SR-4 mowers.
I'm not 100% sure, BUT I do not think this is either Powermore, and Definitely no Loncin. it's just a no name Engine from overseas. And I agree with you, those Loncins are better quality, then Most people think.
They now make those weird mowers that use a horizontal shaft engine, they use a 209cc chinese Honda clone engine with an adapter to provide a small vertical shaft through the deck which has a pulley that connects to the self propel system and another to drive the blade spindle, seems like an overly complicated setup for a small rotary mower, I wonder with the losses in the adapter and belts if you really get more power out of that larger engine than you'd get out of 190cc vertical engine that the blade is driven directly, although I think the powersmart may turn at a full 3600rpm and use a reduction where a vertical shaft engine is going to be stuck closer to 3000rpm as to not exceed the CPSC requirement on maximum blade tip speed.
push lawn mower db2194ph on mine both back wheels broke, the flap on the back fell off(now zip tied), adjuster for the depth of the grass broken both on front and back AND now the belt for the blade snapped in 2. I bought it in sept of 2022! Complete JUNK! 4pk460 belt needed and can't even get ahold of customer service to get HELP!!!
yep they are crap, you saw one I picked up one for free that was locked up. I freed it up and got it go and changed oil. I have maybe $2 into it . The weak part is the handle bars where the meet deck the plastic breaks over time. the newer ones in 2024 I saw some where now use a Briggs engine and handle bars are redesigned to solve the problems. yah they were made to last may be 2 years and throw out. sorry thats not my style. I have a 1974/75 craftsmen with a Tecumseh engine still running. today. yes its on its 2nd deck but first deck lasted 10 years and 2nd deck has lasted 40 years so far
It’s definitely not a quality product. However, I did notice that they were kind enough to put guards completely covering the drive belt and pulleys. That’s something that a lot of the more “quality” brands have skimped on. You could probably take a handle and some other parts from a parts mower and come up with something halfway decent. It still wouldn’t be worth taking it to a shop because their labor and park (if even available) would total it out.
While you try to repair the engine try to find what's making the popping noice i've never heard anything like this before 🤔, but luckily it isn't as worse as the honda engine with a worn out crank journal and block that engine sounded very horribly like it was gonna break apart any second 😬
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE no problem, did you check out my comment on the 2 blowers ? I posted some information of what could cause the puolan blower to leak in air 😄
Yes, I coat the bottom of my deck. I usually use car paint products and a ceramic coating, which will keep the paint up-to-par and help it resist flaking and it'll in general will last much longer and be way easier to clean. I suggest chemical guys,
Received a two-month-old 209cc power smart to service it. The mower is pretty much useless. Elderly woman had me work on it, she lives in a trailer park so you know she has a small pretty much level yard. 2 months of use in a dry cutting season and the oil is black. These mowers the wheels are known to crack in one season the self propelled ones the plastic cover for the drive belt also cracks very easy. Vibrates like I've never seen before and really just sounds so cheap. Stay away Forgot one important safety issue. The 209cc engine if you wish to clean under the deck you should always unplug the spark plug with these 209cc you have to remove the plastic cover on top that also has the smallest gas tank mounted to it that has to come off just to unplug the spark plug
Hey bro wats up? I guess some people just don't care about their equipment whether it's a brand name tool or not. Once it does its job I guess that they are happy with that
These brands hurt good brands. They might as well come in flashy colors because the point is to put established brands out of business. The parent company bought out the former AYP (Husqvarna) Georgia plant. They didn't continue to sell those products
At my shop i won't touch an Amerisun product (the company that makes PowerSmart) getting parts yet contacting the company to do so is impossible. The engine is an RV170M, made by RATO who use to make the Predator engines & Generators for Harbor Freight (now made by Loncin as of 2020) and Rato also makes engines for Champion Global who makes Generators and power washers, they also produce the engines for TTI (Techtronics) Ryobi generators, power washers etc.., the engines are very good quality and parts are easy to find, even tho it's a chinese made engine, Rato makes a good engine, i can get any part for a Rato engine either thru Champion or TTI. as for PowerSmart, i still won't touch them. Good luck ever needing a blade, wheel even a bolt - impossible to find! Don't get the red paint color confused with the 2020 and newer Hyper-Tough 20" mowers, those are made by Daye a reputable chinese power equipment manufacturer. Not all chinese made engines or power equipment is bad, it all depends on the company that produced it and build quality.
I made the mistake of buying one 2 weeks ago. It was a replacement for a Yardmachine that lasted 9 years. It fell apart during the first mow, the plastic flap melted upon removing it to empty the mulch bag. then the spring holding the door down fell off. Also the rubber skirt that trails the machine got caught below the blades and got copped off. Stay away from this brand.
I just got mine yesterday. First impression? hhahahaha. Glad it was cheap. It started the second pull, cut the grass in front of my house, really fast, great adjustments on the wheels, front and back, best part about it. Wife tried it out, she is 76 yrs of age, she liked it, but it moves along pretty fast. The mulching system works great, my grass was really tall since my old mower is in the shop for two weeks. She took a break, mower is off, but when we tried to start it, it was difficult. I finished the job of cutting the badk yard, I thought it did a fantastic job. It is hard to stop, I think that it needs some fine tuning, maybe a better spark plug, Im sure the Chinese made carb had some goo or something sprayed into it durring mfg. Its just a back up mower until I get my old mower back, which is a husky with a honda mower front wheel drive. When I have the time I will tear into the carb and clean it out real good and see what happens with the starting. It came nice and tight, and was real easy to set it up to configuration. Overall, I would say that its a good mower. Like all small engines they need some adjusting. You have to consider that it is cheap.
As one of your biggest fans....and one who never wants to see mowers scrapped....i think this thing is not worth your valuable time & needs to be sold to the junk yard. I never buy items from the country of manufacture. Most likely this comment will be shadow banned or deleted because of criticism of the country that controls this platform & it's owner Google.
lol.. shot the repair video the same day as this one, so times been wasted on it already. In fact I already made the repair video, and it's already uploaded ready to go anytime. Time is very valuable to me, But I figured someone might need this information
Run! Don't buy this ! I purchased this from Home Depot! They would not cover the warranty nor the company would not answer the phone! The self propelled always breaks ! The grass gets stuck cause the blade is too close to the side wall ! It sucks
It looks poorly made home depot had them on clearance for real cheap. Home depot must of wanted them gone Id stay with my Cub Cadet Sc100 with a Briggs and Stratton. Or my DR trimmer Mower much better built and also has a Briggs and Stratton engine. Both will last longer than the powersmart mower.
Well I can't say it's the cheapest mower but maybe the cheapest motor you've ever worked on but there's two mowers out here that I do not recommend anybody to buy and that's the mower you got in the video which is the Smart mower and the hyper torque bushmore these hyper torque post Malone have very soft crankshaft my neighbor was using hers and mind you it has never been started okay if she goes and puts gas in it and goes to start mowing in the damn blade blew off over into my yard cuz they're crankshaft was busted so anyhow stay away from hyper torque motors
most definitely, I actually saw it listed from high to low, and the low was from my local Home Depot or Lowes, which was strange. Only problem, was that they were out of stock. here's the link www.homedepot.com/p/PowerSmart-21-in-3-In-1-170cc-Gas-Self-Propelled-Walk-Behind-Lawn-Mower-DB2321SR/318333188
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE yeah I have three of them hyper torque push mowers in my yard right now in my garage with busted crankshafts I mean they said they pushed it twice either grass and it just stopped running they had and they pull the deck up or they left their lawn mower up in the blades laying on the ground up underneath it
Great video, that mower is very cheaply made, never heard of Powersmart. I'd rather have a quality mower with a quality engine that will last several years.
PowerSmart Customer Service is worthless you can’t get anyone to answer the phone I bought a push mower the wheel fell off during the 3rd use. Discovered the wheels on a push mower were actually for a self propelled mower 💩💩we bought it through Walmart returned it and got a full refund.

What fuel nozzle attachment do you use on your fuel can
IT's the one one that came with it. The can is probably 10 years old, so they came with that style versus what's on them now.

Love watching your videos as I do learn new things and techniques which are helpful.
thank you Rares R for the information I appreciate it
With the way this thing ran, you could attach a drill to it and turn it into a bubble blower by putting soap into the gas tank
nice
wait till you see the powerSmart snowblowers.its a bigger boat anchor
thank for sharing that
If that’s one of those Powermore engines they have a bad rep for throwing rods and having internal problems.
They should call it Lincoln.
I know, I saw them. I would really enjoy looking the system up close. And yes it seems overly complicated.
push lawn mower db2194ph on mine both back wheels broke, the flap on the back fell off(now zip tied), adjuster for the depth of the grass broken both on front and back AND now the belt for the blade snapped in 2. I bought it in sept of 2022! Complete JUNK!
4pk460 belt needed and can't even get ahold of customer service to get HELP!!!
wow sounds like they have a durability issue.
yep they are crap, you saw one I picked up one for free that was locked up.
Nice vintage mower you've got there, I need to find something like that. Yes these other mowers are the definition of planned obsolescence

Ah man I watch hour long videos all the time. Look forward too the next video
Awesome, thank you, I appreciate your videos as well. keep up the good work.
I hope I can find it, thank you Lucas Bergfors.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE no problem, did you check out my comment on the 2 blowers ? I posted some information of what could cause the puolan blower to leak in air 😄
no I haven't see your comment yet, nor is it showing up, as an unread comment.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE i think it was in another user's comment where they said something about loosen screws on the blower i think it should be there 🤔
I'll try to find it.
Yes, I coat the bottom of my deck. I usually use car paint products and a ceramic coating, which will keep the paint up-to-par and help it resist flaking and it'll in general will last much longer and be way easier to clean.
I suggest chemical guys,
Thank you BlecGaming for the information I appreciate it.
The 209cc engine if you wish to clean under the deck you should always unplug the spark plug with these 209cc you have to remove the plastic cover on top that also has the smallest gas tank mounted to it that has to come off just to unplug the spark plug
you are absolutely right, these are not to be bought and used at all.
Why aren't these Powersmart mowers any good?
cheap, very cheap, not designed to last
Hey bro wats up? I guess some people just don't care about their equipment whether it's a brand name tool or not. Once it does its job I guess that they are happy with that
I know right, It's okay, I'll find it a good home. Thank you Ramadin Sookhoo.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE Happy Easter bro
Happy Easter to you too.
use plastic tool. metal scratch it and cause rust.
yes I need to get one of those, thank you Kim Tin.
Can't turn it on it's side and expect it to start. Oil floods the cylinder.
oil would flood the cylinder if you turning the engine, spark plug "DOWN", on the side is best with the air filter facing up thanks for trying though
Look forward to see it run I am not fan of this style mower myself. Just looks to cheaply made and not very reliable
thank you Turningwreches85, I appreciate it.
Is fixing engines your main job?
no it's not.
I need some help with my lawn boy
what's the question
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE no spark, rust in intake, probably junk
the no spark is a common problem with them, and requires a new ignition module. The rust in the intake is very puzzling.
I think the 20 min video would have been useful it was just getting good. I have the same one and the exact same problem with the noise
thank you JLee ,for the comment.
These brands hurt good brands. They might as well come in flashy colors because the point is to put established brands out of business. The parent company bought out the former AYP (Husqvarna) Georgia plant. They didn't continue to sell those products
I absolutely agree with you.
Not all chinese made engines or power equipment is bad, it all depends on the company that produced it and build quality.
thank you for all the great information
This lawnmower on Amazon is $289.00
The problem was that I saw a huge price range just like you, But I found it offered at my local Lowes or Home Depot, at $169.
People take care of your equipment/ specially the cost now a new mower $500.00 bucks 💵💰/ up to yea ???
totally agree
3 cranks on a cheap mower. You need like 7 cranks lol
Stay away from this brand.
that's very good advice.
You have to consider that it is cheap.
glad you liked it, the main complaint about it durability, so hopefully you feel the same
about it the next season.
It looks like a toro super recycler knockoff! Toro personal pace super recycler is best mower I’ve!ever owned
it kind of does doesn't it.
It sucks
agreed, these are not good mowers at all.
I can agree with that. thanks for the comment.
Only problem, was that they were out of stock.
here's the link
www.homedepot.com/p/PowerSmart-21-in-3-In-1-170cc-Gas-Self-Propelled-Walk-Behind-Lawn-Mower-DB2321SR/318333188
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE yeah I have three of them hyper torque push mowers in my yard right now in my garage with busted crankshafts I mean they said they pushed it twice either grass and it just stopped running they had and they pull the deck up or they left their lawn mower up in the blades laying on the ground up underneath it
that's pretty amazing.
Great video, that mower is very cheaply made, never heard of Powersmart. I'd rather have a quality mower with a quality engine that will last several years.
me too WildeFox, I appreciate your time.
There a Honda knock off
most definitely
PowerSmart Customer Service is worthless you can’t get anyone to answer the phone
I bought a push mower the wheel fell off during the 3rd use. Discovered the wheels on a push mower were actually for a self propelled mower 💩💩we bought it through Walmart returned it and got a full refund.
that's what I've heard
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
2 weeks after I sent them an email stating the problem I had and that I returned the mower with a refund
Their response was is to far past the window for a return and that they had shipped the wheels to me.
I responded back and said will send the wheels back if they arrive but now I can’t get a response back for a pick up tag
They’re idiots
With a brand name like Powersmart, it just screams cheap.
yes it does
Total junk bought one broke in 3 weeks no parts available anywhere power smart suggested e bay
No parts from the manufacturer available
Total crap
It’s just a pile of junk
Might as well be honest
nothing wrong with being honest
