Wow, what an ingenious patch. I managed to rig up a few variations on this using the Slope and Contour of my 0-Coast and, well, 2 or 3 hours later I’m still losing my mind over it. Thanks for doing what y’all do!❤

Nice video Pete! I love the arcade trill patch always pretty useful to teach a bunch of concepts at the same time. Also adding that PP control works perfectly.

I'm starting to understand why people end up buying a second Maths. There are just too many great uses for it 😆

nothing wrong with two maths, it'd be great friends with itself, but what i went with as a friend for my maths is a Rampage, from befaco, which has some of the same functions and some differences,,, and faders :D

@@mungojelly let's be honest here, the list of what would be great friends with maths is super long 😆. As long as my GAS is high

@@drowninginreverb_AP it's all just props! the vcv rack version of rampage works great! i've been using it for years and rampaging along fine for free .. it's nice though to have an irl one next to maths, they both do pretty twinkles, maths has got that hocket-style left--right alternation feeling going on, while rampage has a shimmering rotating pretty little star of five lights in the middle (including a comparator, yum)

So trace the signal. What on the Maths is doing what? Or is this a Tony question?

For the arcade trill, Ch4 triggers Ch1 causing a slow Rising function to begin, but also slows it down (functionally stopping it) via the Both input. Each time Ch4 finishes its own Rise it also "releases" Ch1 and allows it to keep Rising, then sends its gate again to pause it, however this time Ch1 does not reset because the Trigger input does not respond during the Rise portion. So Ch1 will keep momentarily Rising and then stopping, over and over again, at a rate determined by Ch4's cycling rate, until it gets to its maximum voltage out at the end of its own Rise portion and the whole process begins again. In general when MATHS is used to emulate a Sample & Hold it is done by sending an inverted gate to BOTH to cause the rate of change to slow down so much that it is functionally stopped. Happy patching! ⚡
