With this application, I would need to flip a stack or reverse motors in stack. Had this in mind for future project but honestly can’t tell difference side by side with a “proper” rotating Leslie. At least I can’t tell. I have since changed both speakers and added proper crossover, sounds even better now!

LOL! Yes, they should be turning opposite directions for “true” Leslie sound! I actually modified this 125 by adding the upper horn I think it would sound funky if both both spun at same speed projecting in same direction, probably a pulsating vibrato not pleasing to the ear…..maybe? Sounds amazing! I read that the 125 uses the same vacuum tube amp as the 145/147 and 122 models. My questions is, does the 125 model originally comes with the black volume knob on the amp? Can’t really see it that clear in your video, but i watched a video explaining lot of the that gritty tube sound comes from cranking up the volume knob on both the leslie amp as the organs tube amps..

Thank you! And yes it does have the (pointer) black volume knob. I keep it around 7 and have separate preamp after (effects loop) that I can tweak to get that growl and clean it up if needed. @@kev6589 Thanks for the reply! After some research on the web, I found out that there's different models of the 125 and in some of them (I believe earlier models) there's indeed a I think a type 25? amp with the knob, while other models have a different (smaller looking) amp without it. Hmm.
Did you use the Trek II effects loop? And what kind of additional preamp do you use, if you don't mind me asking? :)

@@simonpoort No problem! I love this stuff! My setup is a 58’ C-3 with 26-1 conversion to the 125. For my loop I use TrekII ODB-2 into Yamaha REX50 then into an ART Tube MP to boost up signal again and send it back to the 26-1 to Leslie. The REX50 has stereo output so I can send one to my 760 in addition to the 125. Sounds pretty cool!

Thanks for asking. Found all parts on a poorly built frankenleslie on CL. Used horn, driver, upper motor, pully, and modern crossover. The 125 has a upper motor (like 145) spinning lower so eventually I’ll reverse rotation on upper but works great and keeps it inside. I spliced between amp and lower motor and ran it up. Audio to speaker now goes to crossover. Used 3/4 ply for shelf using old install as a template. 3/4 straight flute router bit in a plunge with straightedge to cut grooves in cab. Man you’re gonna love the difference in sound! I actually just swapped out the 12” for a 15”” and what a difference with low end, no crackles. Hope this helps and good luck!

    • @kev6589

Absolutely, only thing is, both motors spin the same direction. As I noted before, they are actually upper motors (check out a 145) if you want accurate true function like a 145, you have to reverse motor or flip it.
