It was such a bummer knowing EA Seattle closed down right before the release of Hot Pursuit 2. Tech did evolve greatly but these guys had superb potential. Giving the series to EA Black Box (and then subsequently butchering it after Carbon) killed it.

Absolutely amazing oscillators, eq and modulations shifting work! + all that layering multiple times! Still hard to replicate and not to loose overall seeing of what you want from that sound.
Romulus 3 will keep playing inside my head until my last breath. What an infectious track. Absolutely love it, even after 25 some years of listening to it the very first time.
nfs high stakes had one of the best soundtracks, it was so much ahead of its time. and even now - its still best among all existing games (and new games cant get even closer to this masterpiece). when i start it first time on my ps1 i just fell through space. thats one of most futurstic things i ever heard. And that time was "golden" because of music and people like Saki Kaskas and Rom Di Prisco.
Agree! Just compare high stake’s menu music to the ones used during supermodels shows hen the models are walking on the runways. There a certain beat that felt the same. I think what Rom di Prisco just did is to show that the main menu OSTs are deliberately composed to resemble runways backgorund music because in this game, the cars ARE the supermodels, with the cars spinning slowly as backgound music kept playing
Massive fan of Rom and Saki ever since the High stakes days. I know Saki is up there writing more tunes for us to enjoy in the heavens. You guys are right, it really doesn't get better than this. I've listened to these tracks while hiking in dense forest and alpine regions, it's the best feeling being on top of a mountain and listening to Romulus 3 I want Callista played at my funeral, I'll drive forever in the afterlife to that track!

Unbelievable how talented and creative these 2 guys are. Saki really influenced my music taste just because I loved taking a ride with a McLaren F1 and had his music in the background.
I just realized that majority of these tracks are various names/terms from astronomy. I never knew official names of these songs besides few like Paradigm Shift, Callista and Quantum Singularity, but I heard them countless times while I was a kid playing N4S. Quantum Singularity is one of the most nostalgic things in my entire life and it always brings so much wonderful childhood memories the second I hear first few seconds of it. N4S really had one if not THE best OST ever in my humble opinion.
Gives very warm, deep, soulful feelings. This music is more art then "standard" and beloved but still commercial electronic music (like most famous DJs), despite used in purely commercial game.
Hi Soulless, many thanks for putting this playlist together. I listen to it a lot, especially when I need some positive feelings from my childhood when times are dark.

What a beautiful version of Callista you uploaded at 2:59:29 never heard of it, thanks! And who said japanese games has the best music? Need for Speed IV - High Stakes, it's the best soundtrack in a game, ever! I hardly think there is somebody that listens to Callista and didnt feel a rush of feelings through his mind and soul, from sadness, to astral voyage, to epic closure, to peaceful conclusion. It's a masterpiece! Thank you for uploading this tribute, and thanks Saki Kaskas for all you left us, I wish music industry recognize you someday. In peace, I wish you rest Saki Kaskas (aka Theodosius Kaskamanidis). Greets to Saki wherever he is, I wish he finally made it to the first place (like in N4S races).
Sorry, man, but nah. NFS 3 OST is at least 2 heads above the NFS 4 OST overall. And that's just a start. Then get the Ace Combat 3 OST and if you has a wide enough taste in music to appreciate different genres (AC3 has mostly electronic music), then try to repeat your words after you hear it (and in conjunction with the visuals on the screen AC3 OST was blowing the mind not less, than NFS3 OST). Try it, man! (again, if you can appreciate different electronic music)
Gotta say, Romulus 3 makes me feel nostalgic for something I never had the fortune of experiencing in my youth (didn't get into NFS until Hot Pursuit 2010). That's how you know his compositions kick ass.
They won't ever touch that game again. It would be a wonderful thing to have this time capsule from 1997 brought to modern visuals, but that's not where EA, the most evil company in the western hemisphere, sees "profit potential".
not only the music in these old NFS games were superb, also the setting of the tracks were so cool. I remember i thought those satelite dishes were so cool for example, or driving under the big aqua tank for example. Nothing beats Quantum Singularity if you ask me.
