    Her enthusiasm is infectious and Anton is always a beast of unique and different build… as in.. dude is just built by different hands than the rest of us… made by Russian scientists or something idk?! Haha

    When i started climbing a year ago i immediately tried to supplement my climbing with some exercices. As a skinny over 30 guy who never really exercised in his life it was quite discouraging to see all the "how to improve your pullups" programs that assumed you can do 5 or 10 pullups in a row. I struggled to do even one. Pushups also seemed impossible beyond 2-3 reps. Finally like 2-3 months ago i started doing regular pushup sessions and pull-ups. I can now do 15 pushups and 5 pullups in a series, for me this is an absolute success. Even tried weighted pullups and can add 10 kg to my bw. It is easy to get frustrated and discouraged but like Anton said, just keep grinding. Every partial pushup, every negative pull-up will make a difference - just do them regularly, at least 2 times per week.

      Thank you for sharing your story, that's pretty good!
      Climbing (or any sport anyone likes) is a good reason to start training and getting stronger, just keep going.
      I've also been skinny all my life (38 y now), had some short periods of training over the years (never longer than one year and years of doing nothing in between), started bouldering and climbing years ago (I think about 8 years ago) and after long breaks I started from almost the beginning again and again.
      Now I started bouldering and climbing about 1.5 years ago again and training with dumbbells, bodyweight etc about 1 year ago, gained 12 kg so I'm in the best shape I've ever been and want to proceed.
      I think it's a good thing to have a sport you like and motivates you to keep training.

    To be clear, the reason Cori was having such a difficult time with the push-up was because of her hand placement. If you look closely, Anton and the video examples have their hands at an angle, so the base of their hand is over the block. Cori had her entire hand straight and off the block, making the movement impossibly hard. I'm sure with that adjustment and very little practice, she'd have it down in no time!

    It's funny how that deadhang actually looks harder on a bar, maybe it's because on the campus board the piece of wood is dragged down by your hand so your foot holds on better as it meets resistance ? Does it make sense ? 😅

  • @xCorvus7x
    @xCorvus7x 4 місяці тому +1

    It looks like the second one requires a very weird balancing. Your centre of mass needs to be more below the hand that will stay on the campus board piece than central below both hands, maybe even further to that side beyond the hand that won't let go.
    It seems, when you get your foot into position, you have to push yourself further in that direction which in turn keeps the piece of wood from which you're hanging at such an angle that it works as a hook holding onto the campus board.

    I could always do the pistol and Hawaiian when I was younger (maybe 45 was the last time I tried) and I never worked out in my life. I never saw anyone do either, I just tried it on my own to see if anyone else could do it. I never practiced it either, I could just do it. Haven't tried it it about 20 years but after watching the video I tried. Now that I am 63 I can still do the Hawaiian but the pistol I go all the way down resting resting on my ankle but can't get back up!

    Placing your hand a bit further away from the wall allows to have more force on your foot, making it more secure. However that means that that force will be added to your weight, so it will be harder for the arm. No big deal for you though, the hard part is the moment you still use 2 hands (because they're too close so even more force on your arm to balance the torque).

  • @alexambro4998
    @alexambro4998 4 місяці тому +1

    Hi anton, for the impossible hang what i think you are missing is the opposite leg. Look at how far magnus spreads it to counter balanca the rotation. On the bar too, your body wants to rotate because the leg dangling in the air is just kinda there doing nothing. I think if you try spreading it far away you got this easy

  • @Vol4
    @Vol4 4 місяці тому +1

    Most tries where Corinne tries to do the one handed push up she has her hand waaay out of position. Anton and the guy in the original video have their hands on top of the brick. The further you move your hand from the brick the harder it becomes, also requiring insane wrist strength. Her first and last tries were the closest where her weight is supported on top of the brick. The trick seems very hard at first but anyone who can do 10+ one handed push ups should be able to do it fairly fast? And at least for men training one handed push ups are pretty easy.

  • @LittleSweed

    We used to do this in gym class just to show of i could do 4 one armed pushups at the time and I was able to do 4 of these kind of pushups using there relay-race batons and I would say it's much more technique than strength. We had this guy in our school that was able to do 25 one armed pushups but he couldn't grasp the technique to do more then one of these kinds.

    It is really hard to realise at what level you are, compared to others. Sometimes you only see what you can't do, because you're looking at that goal you haven't reached yet. Sometimes, it's good to look back a little, and see what most people, even people considered strong or able, can do, and then you realise how far you've come, and how strong or able you actually are.
    Does that make sense?^^
