Alkan is one of the most underrated composers, despite being absolute genius! And Hamelin is such a great pianist, that he plays pieces from these forgotten composers (it's similar with Medtner and Feinberg, which are the best composers too), despite they aren't so popular and easy!
This composition had been used as example in the italian youtube cultural video "Lezioni di Musica - L' Originalità" of the channel "musicamonteverde". Is a really very very interesting video.

@A W this nocturne is nothing special but listen to "le festin d'esope" and tell me he's a mediocre composer... Obviously not at the levels of Liszt and Chopin but definitely not a "mediocre" composer
@@alidaoudi3269He is at the same level of greatness. Each of these three composers are great in the styles and ideas they explore and strive for. To think that he is less of a great composer is offensive and I would advise you to search and explore more of his music.

The beginning of the piece reminds me so much of Chopin nocturne in Ab op.32/2

総合的な大家を除いた場合、ロマン派三大ピアノ作曲家と言えばアルカン、ショパン、リストです。
それに2人ほど加えるならゴットシャルクとタールベルクです。
総合的な大家と言えばベートーヴェンはロマン派を創造した神ですし...ブラームスとシューマン、メンデルスゾーンも大家ですよね😊
他にピアノメソッドの大家だとチェルニー、クレメンティ、メロー、アノン辺りでしょうか。
