Timberland Earthkeepers Boot Refurbishment | Total Boot Makeover
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 бер 2021
- This pair of Timberland Earthkeepers boots came into our shop for repair. These boots were in relatively rough shape and definitely needed some love. The original Timberland rubber soles were worn out and cracking. The leather on the uppers had not been conditioned for quite some time and were in need of some love. After a new Vibram resole and some thorough conditioning, this pair of Timberland boots is good to go. Time for another restoration!

Trent repaired the right boot and Heath did the left. So, you know the guy is going to start walking crooked. 😂 Excellent job as always.
Your channel and tutorials have taught me so much that lately I'm catching myself critiquing shoes in stores when out shopping with the Wife
Hahaha. Thank you!
This is why I love this channel! I love to buy quality shoes, and these guys absolutely know what a quality shoe is about!
It really has me wondering if there are any well made women’s shoes at all, they seem incredibly hard to find!
Gotta say, bringing in the new camera setups where we can see both of you guys working side by side is the best thing you've done for the channel. It's quietly inspiring to watch.
Also, a Wednesday video series would be great - perhaps the short "tutorial" type? Trenton did some great ones about shoe care a while back. Best wishes guys
Thank you so much for the feedback!
I'm a musician and mostly watch instrument demos and recording tutorials. However... I went down a huge rabbit hole with you guys after watching Rose Anvil. Now... all that I've been watching for nearly a week, has been shoe construction and repair videos. I have to say... watching you guys work seems so therapeutic. As someone who loves art... I could totally see myself enjoying being a cobbler. This is pure art. Thanks for these videos, guys! Amazing!
Thank you
I admit, the cleaning and reconditioning is my favorite part.
I may have watched too many of your videos. I can recognize you both by just your hands. 😊 As always, enjoyed the video.
Hahaha thank you!
Exactly. You can tell when Trent is working on something from his wedding band. Also his fingers appear longer and more slender. He would make a good piano player as he could cover a lot of keyboard.
@@ttop64 wtf hahahah
My first boot! I got them to do construction with my family on the weekends when I was in high school. I guess it was more of a fashion boot but they were tough and lasted forever under hard work. Now my son has a pair and he loves them, I should get his old pair and do this upgrade. Thanks for the video!
Didn't even know Timberlands were repairable, fantastic job as always. I may have to send you guys some stuff, "unrepairable" in the UK.
Love your work, guys! Rare to see real craftsmanship anymore. Greetings from London.
Aa always amazing work guys! Your videos have long become a jour fixe thing for me. Thx for showing your masterful art! Have a good one!
this is awesome because im practicing resoling an old pair of off brand timbs so i can resole my real timberlands that are exactly like these ones you've done today, thank you
Great video. I've owned a pair of these for nearly 10 years and I quite like them. I'm due for a resole to give these boots another lease on life. They've been used as my boots for shoveling snow and general work around the yard. I still have the original laces too; they're tough as nails and literally never untie...I don't even double-knot them. Hopefully these particular laces are still available.
Anyway, great video, as usual. I've learned a lot about boots from you guys and bought some based on your perspectives. Thank you for putting this stuff online and sharing your craft.
I find your videos extremely relaxing, and the quality of work is inspiring.
Another great video and repair! I really look forward to your uploads and to hear that you guys are going to increase them...! Oh happy day!!!! 🤗🤗🤗😄
Thank you for watching our videos!
Please post a set of Doc’s when you add a welt to them! Well, when you get a pair eventually. Great job as always you guys. You’ll be getting my Thursday’s when they need a full resole and not just half soles.
First time I’ve ever seen you. Really good stuff, interesting and informative. Just bought two pairs of Timberland 6” premiums, long way to send them to you from England, but thanks…enjoyed the video.
I have a pair of Earthkeepers. They look exactly like the ones in the thumbnail. I want to get them resoled. I love them
Awesome job as usual. I just wore my new Thursday Captain Whiskey boots yesterday and I'm in love. Not only are they the most comfortable foot wear right off the bat that I've ever owned, the fantastic aroma is intoxicating, lol. 🙂
Thank you! I wear mine all the time and love them.
Great job guy's! As always!
They turned out great! I didn't think they'd come back to life. I prefer the original color soles but still great job
I really enjoyed the way you did this video. I like new back drop and watching you two work side by side... it looked like a "for real" video and not a "youtube content" video.
I see a new video I automatically click the thumbs up 👍🏽 and than I’ll watch the video love this channel guys much love
You’re too kind, thank you!
Hey Gents hope all is well with you and your families.
Stay safe out there, I can’t wait to see how the boots come out.
Awesome job! I will definitely send my Earth Keepers to you when the soles need replacing.
I have those boots and I hate the tongue on them. The tongue is a two-piece design, when I gave it a slight tugging to adjust I ripped half the damn thing off right through the stitching. Their new forever home is in the back of my closet.
What a great job, you guys are the best !!
Been watching you guys for a while. Great job with the earthkeepers. Have a pair my self that I havent cleaned in years.
My SP sandals are arriving today! Gonna put them on. Sit down with some bourbon and watch T&H videos all weekend. I will then explain to my wife these guys handcrafted my sandals and she won't care and I will lie about how much they cost. She doesn't understand quality.
Wow, the color change is fantastic! Great job! ,👍
Thank you!
Hey I have those exact boots! The original outsoles are complete trash. No traction and you can easily slip with any slick surface. I stopped using them because I wore out the outsole in less a year and they grew uncomfortable
I found that exact problem the sole wore out so quick . I bought 2 pairs of earth keepers in 3 years." Trash sole" perfectly described.
Gentlemen as always the boots look much better than they came in. The red color of the new soles gave the boot a better look. I bought a pair of men sandals from you guys last year gotta tell you I’m sure enjoying them. Have a great weekend.
Thank you so much. Glad you’re enjoying the sandals too!
Gorgeous job as always! Not sure why I’m so obsessed with work boots, but there it is, lol.
im suuuuuure it has nothing to do with
the two fellas
I am on my third pair of these. I didn't have anyone that could resole, so I would just buy another pair. #1, is advantageous to resole (cost-effective) or #2, just buy another pair. I love this style of boot and they are very comfortable.
Really wonderful outcome ☺️ Almost as brand new!
Just me being curious, any chance you make a video where you present your favourite pairs of your own shoes/boots? I'd like to see your style preferences, as well as explaining why you chose them in terms of construction.
Amazing work, as always 😎
Thank you!
Great work, as always! It's good to watch operative craftsmen. I wonder if there is a legend of the first cobbler?
Great content and work. This video was perfectly timed as my brushes and other accessories from you all are out for delivery today.
Thank you!
Beautiful work men.
Fantastic job!
All the way from Scotland, you guys are absolute quality 👍
Hey guys, I’m just curious how you both ended up with such different accents. Especially with words like “on”. 😂 Have you guys ever noticed that?
Incredible transformation
Thank you!
I hade a pair of these, worn em for 1000+ hours. First as a outfit boot, then a work boot and they ended up becoming my hiking boots. Ended up tearing through the sole of 1. Loved that pair
Awesome Job!
Nice work gents, nice boots too. Well done.
You guys worked on the sole here, but what seems to wear out first for my hiking boots is the inner lining at the heel. I have a really good well fitting pair of Merrill boots that are wearing out on the inside at the heel.
Great video as always
Thank you!
Great video. Fun to watch
Thank you!
I have two recommendations, one is when you show the final outcome I liked the old style where you would switch between the two instead of the side by side, it just looked nicer. Other is you guys should put up some sound dampening on the walls in the work shop to cut out some of the echo, its also a nice to have when working with loud machinery. Otherwise I love the videos and you guys are super enjoyable.
Thanks
Another beauty. Thanks.
Gentlemen, that was a pleasure to watch. Thank you 👍👍
Yay more videos!
Excellent. Thanks 😊
off topic- your work room has the feel of the small gym in my jr high. looked and sounded like the big gym just was smaller. i think its the acoustics, doors.and windows. thank you for memory and nice job on the boots!
Enjoy your videos, great leather midsole upgrade on the Timberlands 👍.
Love this, economically probably better to buy a new pair. But love the craftsmanship.
Since my university days, I own a 20+ years old, used and abused pair of Icon 3-eye Lug Shoes by Timberland. They just got resoled for the second time and they are as comfy as ever. Never owned any other Timberlands, so I can't really say anything about their quality in general, but mine are surprisingly sturdy. I take better care of the uppers, though ...
Me encanta ver este tipo de botines con las suelas todas gastadas, eso significa que les dieron caña y las disfrutaron a todo lo que da, y verlas renacer con la restauración es simplemente mágico
You guys totally upgraded these boots. I wish you would do a customer reaction video.
Love that you guys got in there and cut all that crepe off. I deal with crepe all day too, usually bull crepe though
The view angles where you both appear working are cool...
Trenton and Heath thank you again! 1. Please do launch more videos and hopefully some more cowboy boots 👢 restorations as well.
2. Also, can you all do some more construction videos on how well certain brands are made and perhaps unboxing of some that you all have purchased new as well......?

Even before I knew much about boots... I always had reservations about Tinberland products. I never have actually owned any of their products but have handled, and tried on, several pairs on many occasions... but they never felt right. Now I see why. I’ve seen the construction of multiple products and they have all been rather lackluster imo. You guys did a great job polishing those tur... boots... to something mildly respectable. 😂
Timberland is just a division of VF Corp and their sole purpose is to maximize profit. There is no thought of quality. Vans, North face are other divisions.
I used to wear the Timberland pro anti fatigue boots(on my feet for 8-10 hours a shift). The last two pairs I’ve had were only comfortable for maybe a month, then I had to add inserts to them. They used to be comfortable for the whole life of the boot. I switched to Thorogood and I like them much better.
Timberland were the bomb 40+ years ago. They used to have a lifetime warranty where they would replace any boot regardless how long you wore them. If you're going to wear them on weekends out on the town, they'll last forever. I've owned a few pair and they're great as long as you waterproof the uppers. They're not made to be used as work boots. If you need a pair of work boots, get a pair Redwing.
Thank you for uploading this! I've been wanting to see someone "get in" to these because they're a nice looking boot to me, but the niceties end with the looks it seems. Very meh.
I like how this is a kind of a review without being a review.
Thank you for watching!
I have those boots as well, and it’s good to know when it’s time to get them done, they can be brought back to life! Great job guys!
Great job guys they came out really good, I have a similar pair of timberlands and need the same treatment I was wondering how much will it cost to have them repaired. Keep the good job guys.
SAME! Hoping to get an answer!
I am guessing it's 90-130
I love how you guys day See Ment
Been around 0F for the past week up where I live. So yes, I am dreaming about warmer weather right now!
The original Timberland sole was described as a faux welt at 1:15. It was replaced with stitched leather midsole. At 1:40 it seems that the midsole is now the welt that won't be pulled off in any future re-soling. Overall then the conclusion seems to be glued soled boots can be re-soled, not just Goodyear welted ones. Also that it's possible to convert between the two. Ignoring the cost factor, just for understanding possibilities. Great videos on this channel. Have learned and am still learning a lot. Thanks.
Nice job💚
Nice job.
One of trenton and heath's best resole shoe vids ever.. might want to change the before and after part of the background..
Great craftsmanship very clean work men all my respect everytime 💯✔✔✔✔✔✔✔👍
Thank you!
You guys should do a ‘story behind the shoe’ that would be also cool!
Wow... worth watching from manila sir’s! good luck, God bless!
Loving you work guys, what sort of cement are you using as everything I've tried in the past fails?
I would love to see a pair of blundstones resoled like this. I've always wondered if you'd pull the entire sole off, or grind the existing sole flat and glue another sole on.
Great work, as usual. Have you guys considered doing a sandal with a strap like the Birkenstocks? I've never liked the feeling of having a something between my toes like they do with those traditional style sandals.
I’ve had my Earthkeepers for 8 years and want to resole them so bad. I don’t want to get rid of them!
could you guys do a video showing your shop & explains all the machines you have in there?
Hello from Demorest Ga.
Amazing amazing job... Congratulations...
Thank you!
What would happen if you replaced the faux welt with a Goodyear welt?
They do it (different boots) in another video. I'd imagine that ups the cost of repair significantly.
Add $300 to the price of this job.
Watching you guys using the stitching machine made me wonder how often do the needles break and do you have extras on hand in case one does break during the course of the day ? BTW in case you don't have a video lined up for next week here's wishing you both a happy Easter in advance .
Hi! The needles break every now and then. Yep, we have plenty on hand and order more when needed. 👍 We hope you have a wonderful Easter as well.
Awesome work guys! Can i ask how much does a work like this cost?
👍👍 good stuff!
Careful of those storms today!!!!
Beautiful job, as always. It pains me to see how people don't care for their footwear.
Thank you very much!
@@TrentonHeath You can buy these Earthkeepers for about $100 so they are really a disposable item. I have 3 old pairs with good uppers but bad soles in my closet as we speak.
Hi Guys, thanks for all the videos, they're very entertaining and educational. I had a question about cowboy boots and that's, is it possible to convert a cowboy boot/heel to a normal boots with regular sole and heel? if so, how much would that cost?
I have those boots and destroyed the original soles in 6 months. Had my cobbler resole them with vibrams and been great since
A cobbler shop CAN be clean and organized, Congrats!
Always a pleasure to watch. Bravo again, gentleman 👌🏼💪🏼
Thank you so much!
Wednesday releases are great as they will have less competition, and the "shelf life" will be extended into the first couple days before the weekend.
Hope it helps snd folks like it.
G'day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 Trenton and Heath it's great to see you working on boots and shoes and the marvellous job that you do even on the crappiest shoes and boats. There is something very calming watching you work, I always think to myself why you don't put gloves on when you put your hands inside some of these shoes and boots I just wonder what kind of bugs are crawling around inside them if you took a swab I reckon you would fine some very nasty bugs in them ..........wash you hands well John
I just saw this great video, I hope you are able to answer my question: how is the welt attached to the upper? I see the stitching appears to be merely decorative and the welt is not stitched onto the upper? Did you stitch the midsole only to the welt, or also through to the upper as well?
I am beginning to believe 80% of people don't take care of their footwear. It will be nice to see extra video's from one of my favorite channels. I am wondering if Timberlands are worth the price of resoling...?
Hi guys, great as always. I own these boots and have a few questions. 1. Does the boot contain a shank or did you add that? 2. If they welt is plastic, how did you stitch the midsole on - directly to the footbed like a Blake stitch? I had mine redone this past fall and went with a Christy sole. The uppers on these boots are quite nice and mine still had a lot of life in them despite being bought in 2012.
"See-ment construction"
Nice job guys! Those boots did look pretty bad :) Nice restoration.
I always thought Timberland boots and shoes were basically disposable...You did a great job making them better.. never understand why people don’t take care of their shoes and boots..
then again.. 20 years ago I paid $850 for a pair of over the calf, bespoke boots made from Buffalo hide with reinforced toes and screwed/cemented heavy Vibram soles.. they are utilitarian, durable, still ridiculously comfortable and can be worn for days of motorcycling, hiking and anything else. .. but I am hard on boots, so Danner Rainforests in summer and Acadians in winter since the last they use fits me well.. but I have never let any boot get close to that dry and crunchy.. Florsheim Imperials for special occasions and Brooks Brothers Chukkas .. Feet are your foundation.. after going Italian on a pair of wingtips in my 20’s.. and getting blisters, soles wore through in 2 months.. My Mother to me to buy my first Florsheim cap toes.. Never looked back. Keep up the good work gentlemen! Awesome Channel!
