Roman and the Sloth today, nice.
The stainless steel Daytona has not always traded at 2x retail. I bought the reference 116520 white dial in November 2008 for £6500 from a grey dealer when the retail price was around £5500. I also bought the black dial with the same reference in December 2008 for £6300 from another grey dealer. Both were brand new, fully stickered watches with full box/papers/swing tags. Even taking the average of what I paid at £6400, that is just over a 16% premium over retail back in 2008 and, this was the normal premium over retail back then in the UK.
Interesting. I've seen black dial ceramic daytonas sell in the 24-26k in the wholesale market for the last 2 weeks
116520 particularly the black dial at the peak of the market in 2008 traded roughly at a 40-50% premium from retail depending on year, condition, etc. This was the only waitlisted piece from Rolex at the time 😁👍
@@MarcoFerranteWatches look at my response above - there is no way it traded at 40/50% above retail in 2008 (in the UK at least). That would have meant around £7700-£8250. Do you have evidence of prices from 2008 in the US which show 40/50% over list ?

I grabbed a Patek 5130R world time this year and love the thing. It's one Patek that benefitted from the watch boom but remained obtainable in price and didn't see the massive correction/crash like the Nautilus! As of today, the prices are up 34% from when I bought it a few months ago!
Incredible watch! Patek worldtimers are seriously some of the more underrated and undervalued models in my opinion. From the 5131, 5231, 5575 to even 5110, 5130 and 5230 I think there are so many incredible world times to choose from and all things considered they trade for an amazing price. And totally agree these are your steady risers over time especially if you buy preowned 🔥🙌
Idk Roman….. the hamilton Pan Europ in green is gorgeous. Imo, that green tone is perfect. Extremely rich and vibrant
Personally not my favorite. I think the best green is probably the Hulk and I'm a big fan of the Patek 5270P green. Moser has some nice vignette style green dials that are really nice also 😁🙌

I love a gold Daytona on a oyster flex which I'm not big on the rubber straps but that watch with the black ceramic dial is fire
Yea oysterflex + ceramic bezel is the ultimate watch that combines comfort and being cool. Just an awesome look overall 😁🙌
The black dial ceramic Daytona was readily available on the secondary market in 2017 for $17,000. Let's not get too far into the hype weeds here.

Yea the current 116500LN both in white and black has never traded under MSRP and I don't think will ever fall below this. The demand is simply too high. And for sure Panda is 👑. Thanks for watching hope you enjoyed this 😁🙌

Forgive us for not giving ultra precise calculations on a mostly relaxed unboxing setting. 1.6x is still a huge premium over list considering the 126710BLNR reference has been in production for 5 years already!

Is anyone able to clarify with the greubel? Says 18 pieces in the video but online I believe it's 88? Their website says 22 made per year will be 88 in total by 2025.
Sure thing! So this is the Greubel Forsey Balancier S1 so was the first Balancier model made. This one is limited to 18 pieces. Hope this answers your question 😁🙌

I’ve seen Black Ceramic Daytona in the mid 20s, I think low 30s is wishful thinking. Maybe the market dipped further since this was filmed.
For a brand new black ceramic Daytona you'll be paying in the mid to high 20s generally speaking 😁👍

Just my opinion tho.
I think both have their merits for ownership for different reasons. If I had to choose one over the other I think Greubel Forsey edges MB&F on innovation and finishing. However, I will say that MB&F's recent work especially with Stephen McDonnel's movements has been top notch and certainly allows them to be a part of the conversation of best watches in the world 😁🙌

Can’t stand the expression “prices have come back down to earth.” It is arrogant. It suggests that you knew all along that the prices were too high when they were a lot higher when you both bought and sold watches when they they were a lot higher and you sold to clients as fairly priced when they were a lot higher. Just say that a year the watch was at $___ and today it is at $___.
That’s just how markets move? They fluctuate and watch prices rose for a while and now they’re going back down. Of course people knew they had to come back down eventually, just nobody knew when.
Besides that LB is a business, and businesses want to make money and that’s done by buying and selling watches in this particular case. So you suggesting they lied to clients when they said a watch is fairly priced a year ago is just dumb.
Seems like you don’t understand how grey markets work… Retailers decide the “fair” price” for products. Supply and demand sets the aftermarket prices, and Grey markets buy and sell based on margins.
Whether they buy at $50k and sell for $52k, or buy at $100k and sell at $102k, their margin is the same..
People are adults. We make our own money, and research what’s worth spending our money on..
