I came to faith in Christ at 14. I spent a lot of time in the Scriptures during that time, and it was so helpful. You can imagine how surprising it was for a small town Christian to attend university and be exposed to so much immorality. As a virgin in the secular college context, I was treated like a real human oddity. "You WANT to remain a virgin?? You'll change that attitude someday!".
Thank God I didn't follow the world. I have been married for thirty years to a Christian woman, and I'm so thankful I don't have the regrets that I've heard from others. God's word will guide you away from the world's corruption, and, if you have fallen, will guide you back into God's grace. God made us, and knows what is right for us.

Hi Becket! I'm a missionary in Sweden, and we just had Sam's book translated into Swedish, and he's coming over in September to do a tour in Sweden, sharing his story and meeting and encouraging pastors here. Please pray for us as things are hotting up here. Most denominations have either moved away or are heading quickly from a traditional understanding of marriage and sexuality. This issue is dividing historically evangelical churches. We need Biblical clarity and grace upon grace on this issue. Thanks for your ministry.

This is the first time I have heard Sam speak. He is so eloquent about our and Christ's relationship with our bodies. You guys honestly said things I've never heard before about sin and the body. I understood why I shouldn't be smoking. I've been trying to quit for 15 years. I stopped yesterday. I feel so happy, so free. I have never felt this before. Thank you Beckett and Sam. Thank you Jesus.

I even did that with my present husband and got pregnant. We've been together for 35 years but I'll never know if he married me because of my pregnancy or not. Also, everything you described in gay relationships looks like idolatry and CAN occur in heterosexual relationships, too. I know a Christian widow who has started dating again. This is just amazing and soooo true!!! You both are EXACTLY biblical in all of your attitudes toward sex. I married late in life, and by God’s grace remained a virgin for that time, but grew so much closer to Jesus during that time (through tears oftentimes though!) because He deeply convicted me of the BEAUTIFUL truth that HE IS MORE AND ALL THAT I NEED! Many Christians don’t TRULY believe that. I am now married and love my precious godly husband - we are very close and have a very healthy and fulfilling sex life but doesn’t touch what we both have in CHRIST!!! There is NO relationship that even touches knowing THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE, as you said, Beckett. You are both a GLORY TO GOD!! The TRUTH is so beautiful - Jesus is all we need!

The fact is that I went thru hell! But God helped me get thru and not turn to drugs etc. I am unable to get into any kind of relationship with men! I just cannot. Please pray for me though I still struggle with the perversion they taught me! It is hard to get thru this and walk away! I feel like Satan keeps trying to draw me in! Hey, Sam Allberry is 4 1/2 hours from Knoxville, Tennessee where I live and from in East TN! Really enjoyed listening to Sam speak. People who think Christians are stifled sexually shows the true ignorance they have of God's word. The scales need to be lifted from their eyes. Christ freed women! Only Christ can fulfill that longing in our hearts and we can't depend on any human being to make us complete. We have to love Christ and love ourselves as Christ would want us to and I think that is the key to having a healthy relationship with a husband or wife when you have peace in Christ and are equally yoked and have Christ at the center of the marriage and relationship. I love these verses:
    1 Corinthians 13:4-7
    New International Version
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
    1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV / 555 helpful votes
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
    1 Corinthians 6:19 ESV / 388 helpful votes
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
    1 Corinthians 3:16-17 ESV / 348 helpful votes
Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.

That one bothers me so much! Fornication is evil maybe not as bad as Sodomy! The fact is though we are to wait! Sadly I wasn't given a choice. I was molested by the first pervert at 3 years old and later on moved back to Maine and from 9 years old on to 17 I was abused by another man! I never had a chance! I am still fighting perverions. But I can't have sex! I can't trust men! I can't let down my guard!
I am waiting until marraige. And as far as I am concerned I am a virgin! I didn't get a choice as a child abused the way I was. It took me a long time to heal up and find peace! God helped me realized I needed to forgive not for their sakes but my own. The two of them either are dead or went to jail. I know that much. I know that sexual abuse leaves you scared. At 5 years old I Thought I was a freak when I'd do things to myself. It was because of the abuse! What five year old thinks that way? Right?
It's just a sad and hard time in my life and I feel terrible for anyone who suffered the same way. I am asking you to pray for me to stop having the perverted thoguhts that all I am good for is sex. That's all women are meant for or that I am some kind of whore who liked it! Of course not but when you are told that and abused that way you don't understand that it's not right that it's not ok and that it is not who you are! God spared me from getting into random hook ups or alcoholic or drugs! He helped me realized it would just not help! That it would not be ok!

I appreciate the iPhone analogy. 35:16
Just pitching an idea- could the next discussion maybe be about seasons of loneliness? Even if one's grounded in solid Christian community, there's just the fact of coming home to oneself after the church hangouts. Keeping oneself occupied can only do so much sometimes when the sorrow overwhelms you. I'm personally fighting against my hardened heart every day. It's been difficult. Thank you Becket and Sam

    • @quinbus51
      @quinbus51 2 роки тому

I'll second that idea! What does the Christian do when their sinfulness destroys the marriage relationship that was designed to ground two people in God's plan? It's sorta like the analogy of having a perfect body confined to a wheelchair because in a moment of stupidity, driven by a lifestyle of selfishness, an individual dove off a bridge into water that was too shallow... It wasn't what God would have decreed for the individual, but the damage is done and probably can't be repaired this side of redemption.
The consequences of sin sometimes live beyond the recognition of sin and the turning back to God. That's the hardest. Sorta like the rich man when he realizes his huge mistake...

I got way off the path with heterosexual transgressions and it took a long rime for me to understand why I was getting blindsided by this even though I loved Jesus and wanted to follow Him and I have that same kind of puzzlement at times about why God didn't just reach down and snatch me out of that but like you intimated the Lord has plans that we can't always see into or understand presently
I admire you so much because of your compassionate courage to share your testimony and it is POWERFUL you will never know how many people the Lord has rescued because of you and your being willing to be so vuleranable

Love Sam Allberry. I love how his message and testimony doesn't solely speak to same sex attracted people. It really is for everyone. Same in heterosexual relationships i.e. you sleep with someone, it's euphoric for a while but if you are outside of marriage, it's just downhill and usually doesn't make out the way people had hoped. And I mean, it isn't difficult to know that sex is couched in the originality of all sin...all the way back to the fall...so naturally satan takes what was meant for good for us and twists it and uses it for harm.

I *often* think about our bodies being made whole in heaven. And (unfortunately) have to talk a lot about that in my dealings with people. But I have NEVER…and I mean NEVER EVER applied that thinking to “hey I can jump in heaven and not pee my pants because my body will be made new”. 😂 it may seem silly to some but not being able to jump for almost 10 years actually interferes with life on occasion. Plus it’s just really annoying haha. When he said “I can’t do at 40 what I could at 20” it clicked, and brought me joy!
Wonderful talk as always, Becket 💙

I love this interview so much. I've watched it a couple times and I also shared it with a girl who suffers so much from sexual abuse as a child and now promiscuity and same sex attraction from it all. I think this is such a beautiful intuitive description of the intention of sex.

Great name for a book : "Why does God care who I sleep with". Sexuality is a huge issue and clearly submitted to God is the ultimate goal of every aspect of our lives. As a teenager I remember having a romantic experience without a boy...it was not sexual but "romance" in love with. I didn't realize that the real object of my love was God!

I am a single Christian woman who has found myself falling for the I'm-not-complete-without-a-man lie every so often 🙄🙁
I am DONE with that lie....I will not entertain it any longer.
Truth is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the only ONE that completes me!
    Praise the Lord!

Great to see and listen to brothers in Christ discuss these topics. In a secular world these boundaries are blurred but Jesus's words would always be the light and truth that exposes the lies of secular sexuality. If I borrow Yuan Chirstopher's word, ' holy sexuality' ,chastity in singleness and fidelity in marriage, and to make your body the temple where God can reside are the right attitudes to become one with Christ.

Such truth! I used to be Bisexual in thoughts! But I never actually did anything. I knew my thoughts were wrong. I swore that I would never go down that road. But thoughts are just not ok! Lustful thoughts are so wrong! The fact is that I am only meant to find a man and get married and have sex with that one man the rest of my life. But I can also be unmarried and save myself for sex! This world is about fulfilling itself thru sex!
I am happy to say that while it did take a while and I was angry with "Where is my love" I realized Jesus is all I need! He's what I was truly longing for! I am happy as a Christian and as a single woman and I do not need 'love' to fulfill me. The fact is that 'love' as the world calls it is just a bunch of lustful people who think that it's ok to be whores! Men and women are both whores. Not just women! I dunno why for so long the men were the playas and the girls were the whores? Like that never made sense! So ya to me they are all whores!
I am happy that you guys are so honest with your story and if you hadn't gone thru it then you wouldn't be able to take this stand and say "I know what it was like" not "This is just my theory" like most of us would! Becket Cook, I think you have a lot to teach because God is using you to wake up others! I thank you and others who are like you who speak the truth in a world full of lies! Please never let them silence you!

Another compelling interview, Becket. Thank you so much! Prior to coming to the Lord, sex was an unhealthy obsession and I was a relationship junkie. Now with Jesus and age I see the ridiculousness of this. I'm in a healthy marriage for eleven years. It's so much better His way!!!! Real men and women love Jesus. He is the only One we are longing for. 💕
