Queerbaiting used to be used to refer to FICTION, as in, setting up a queer storyline to hook people in only to drop it. I think it's insane and disrespectful to the extreme to use it about actual people as if we're entitled to know their sexual identity or history. I wish it would stop, I wish it had never started to take on that meaning.

Then an audio clip was released from the show that someone recorded, edited to make it sound worse than it was, basically they took out the person's replies and Ashley apologizing on stage so it all sounded like one big tirade by Ashley rather than a back and forth with Ashley apologizing at the end, and that caused a second wave of "cancellation". Then it got into the alt right spaces and it got even worse. Ashley and her girlfriend and their family was doxxed. She got a death threats and threats about attacks on her shows, so she had to hire security. There is an episode of the podcast where she explains it from a few months ago.
