i used 1 cup white bread flour, 1 c white whole wheat flour, 1 c whole wheat and upped the water by about 1/4 c. and used 1 1/2 t. yeast and 1 1/2 t. sugar and 1t. salt. It is great and hearty, and good for tomato sandwiches. I have started doubling my adaptation of the recipe and keeping leftover dough in the refrigerator to bake fresh a day or 2 later, I have gone up to 3 or 4 with great results. . very easy!
Just made this. To die for! UNBELIEVABLY delicious! I am still in awe over the taste, texture, and wishing my mom was still around to taste this. Crispy crust, soft inside. PERFECT. Will probably make for Christmas presents!
This hands down the best bread recipe ever! I’ve been trying different recipes for a week and THIS IS THE ONE!!! It’s crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, easy to make literally took 5 minutes and the house favorite!
I found this video recipe about mid-November 2021. Today (February 2022) I have made about 25 loaves of bread for my family and friends. It turns out perfectly every single time! I now have family members asking for more. Thank you for posting this!
I’m watching this video as a refresher. It’s been a few years since I’ve made a loaf of bread but I plan to today. What I have done in the past, but won’t do today is use hardwood fire in my charcoal grill instead of the oven. Preheat, and then when the flames die down it’s usually pretty close to 230C/450F. It takes more work and it’s finicky, but the flavor is worth the effort if you have the time.
The fairy core music really added to the homestead housewife vibe I was going for. (Im a guy, just moved out of my parents house, wanted cheap food. Shoe size 10, might re watch top gun later).
Made this today, used 3 cups flour but needed a little more. My dough spread out and the finished loaf was a little more flat than I would have liked. But it had good crust and overall I was satisfied. This is a good recipe for any skill level. Try it today.
Did it and it turned out awesomesauce! I needed at least 1/2 cup more water (measured twice, cut once 😉 ) to the 3 cups of fluffed Robin Hood AP flour (not sifted). Juuuuuust a touch yeasty (Why does homemade always taste that way 🤔). Easy fix. Thanks! Edit: I tried again with the suggested amount of water and quickly realized it was my mixing technique (I was waaaay too slow in mixing). That and a touch less yeast and... bingo. Perfect. Note: I also did one with the lid off at the end, as per the recipe, and one with it on the whole time. It still cooked just fine still on, just a bit less golden. BUT!!! still just as che3wey and delish 😍!!!
Making this now. I love making breads but have never tried this one yet. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Thank you for sharing this recipe. ❤ Update: My bread turned out fabulous and the taste is amazing. I will be making this a lot!!❤❤❤
Wanted to learn how to make my own bread so I watched a lot of no-kneading bread videos and this is the recipe I followed. The bread I made tastes as good as it looks! Thank you for the recipe. Now I just need to get myself a serrated knife if I'm going to start making my own bread for now on. 😋
As it turns out, third time's the charm. Before I found you, I tried two other 'easy' & 'rustic' UA-cam bread recipes - and after a more complicated process, the results were... less than pleasing. But you are truly my Kitchen Knight in a Floury Apron! This recipe was the epitome of no-fuss, and the results were absolutely delicious. (Extra handkerchief throw in your colours for the Renfaire music in the background; that put a smile on my face before the bread did : )
I am waiting for my bread to bake as I write. Beautifully done video. Peaceful, and lovely restful music in the background. All perfect for these troubled times. Thank you, Hungry Man.
Such a well produced video. Straightforward and to the point. No talking, music pleasant but not oppressive, clear instructions. This is the style of recipe videos I like best. I am about to try this recipe. It is similar to another I’ve tried, but there are one or two minor, but perhaps significant differences. The one I’ve used before results in a bread that looks beautiful, but to me has a rather bland, flat flavor. I’ll report back later.
I am no baker, but your recipe works when I try it. Thank you. I also admire your videography and the soundtrack. So welcome in a talkative, inane, world. Best wishes, from London.
Just finished making the second loaf and enjoying it with a nice beef stew. Recipe works as advertised and is very tasty. Thumbs up from all my testers.
I am all about a bread dough that I don't have to knead!! It came out so crusty and such a nice texture to the bread. Add some fresh butter and I am in Heaven!!
Thank you for such an easy recipe to bake my first bread! It was easy and your video easy to follow. My wife and just cut open the bread and it’s delicious! I will be making this recipe again in the near future and adding some herbs from our garden. I used the Lodge 4qt Dutch oven.
I have now made this recipe roughly 20-30 times in the last year. I have yet to have 1 loaf that didn’t turn out. I now make this for my family as a Christmas gift, even my nephew has asked me for the recipe. Thank you so much for showing us this and how easy it really is!
Merhaba, arkadas. Made a loaf tonight for the first time. Wife was greatly impressed. Pretty darn easy to make. I watched about 10 of these videos and yours seemed the easiest and looked da bestest. Thanks. Oh, and the ‘no talking’ thing is great.
Norma here. Nice concise video that was very informative without a bunch of unnecessary chatter. One question - did you forget to cut a slit on top of the dough before baking, or do you purposely leave out that step and why?
Can't answer for the Turkish BreadMaster, of course, but I do a simple cross-cut on the top of these, and they come out just fine. (When I moved to a larger Dutch oven, I think that helped the bread laterally expand a bit : )
@@HungryManKitchen it was my best batch thanks to you! Although I think I may need to turn my oven up it wasn't as brown as your's and also can I score it if I'd like?
Here comes the recipe! I love a rusty bread like this. No knead just makes it much easier. I like the bread very much. I like this recipe. Big like to you 🌸😊
I made this and it came out beautifully and I’m making two loaves right now…one to give away and one for me. Is it OK to cut a little design on top of the dough with a knife before you bake it or will this wreck it? Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! 😊
Looks wonderful. I haven't made bread in years, and I wasn't an allstar at it when I did. I've looked at alot of recipes, and I think I'll give yours a try. Your video was very well made, just like the bread! Have a wonderful day.
My girlfriend loves making homemade bread and we just got a new dutch oven this Christmas. Ours is blue like yours, so that means it will turn out exactly as good as yours, right?!?!?!
I wonder if I tried this if I would ever get the dough out of the bowl, lol. Looking at the finished product I would probably need half a pound of butter per slice 😁 It looks fantastic!! There is nothing quite like fresh baked bread, especially the smell of it!!

Brilliant! I love recipes where you can watch and read how it is done with having to listen to anyone blathering on and on. This recipe works great.
"without" having to listen to blathering, of course. Doh! What a lousy typist I am and a worse editor.
It’s okay. My brain filled in the missing word.
Blathering… 😂

Tried multiple recipes and this has been my favourite of the bunch. 😋
