If you are talking bout the German anthem, then I must say that this is not true. The German anthem is made up of three parts and now after the Second World War we only sing the third part of the anthem. The text was written on the 26. of August in 1841. So it is really old.

As someone with Greek roots, my country suffered from the Nazis as well. But being born and living in Germany is just a gift.
