These used to scare the dickens out of me. But the key for me was to remember to BEND the knee as soon as the skate blade touched the ice and to think "sit". Once I did that (and made sure I flexed the foot of course), I was able to keep my weight towards the heel when doing the cross behinds for the Rythym Blues.
