The best way to make things difficult to assemble is turning on the camera. 😆 you got there in the end and it was pretty interesting. Thanks for posting.
FYI peoples, Harley uses this same transmission pawl shifter design all the way to 1990 on their 4-speed Sportster models. I have been looking for a video that would go thru the pawl shifter mechanism section and yours by far is the most illustrative. I hate when people sit there and talk endlessly about their back stories - I don't give a damn about that; just show me how you fixed our shared problems. Your camera angle is perfect; I don't need to see your face (no offense). And perhaps the best part about your video is that you left all the "finagling" in. That shows the audience better what the real struggles of assembly/disassembly are. Thank you for not editing anything out. My bike seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to selecting a gear and after watching your video and looking at the repair manual, I feel pretty confident about what the problem is. Thank you for sharing!
Great video Bro, I'm having the same problem with mine, and I never done this job before. Thanks for making this video Sir, it's been a great help thank you.
i can’t get down into first, guessing i need springs the shifter dosent really return at all and won’t reach down far enough to get into first. must be springs and an adjustment.
What are the odds of you sending me the wrong sportster springs? I thought I had clutch problems, but after reading many posts and watching Tatro Machine's videos, I think that the springs are gone as the shifter does not move back to the upright position when I try to shift!
Great video I have a 75 ironhead xlh 1000 and my shifter has play and isn't tight and not shifting easy. I'm thinking my paw springs may be worn out! I will use your video to get it done. Thanks
you said you ended up with a whole bunch of these springs, do you still have some kicking around that you might be willing to part with? my 79 broke its springs as well and i'm having a hell of a time finding them anywhere.
Quit playing with it and put it back together and install it in the bike for crying out loud. Idiotus, form the Greek meaning unlearned one, who takes twice as long to do a video as it should take.
Gary, with all due respect, I'm certain that God doesn't approve of your rude comment to a kind man trying to make a video to help others expecting nothing in return. Please remember that God expects us to love Him and to love others. Your comment doesn't feel very loving and would have been better if you had said nothing at all. Not trying to be rude but if your going to represent God....then represent God well please. Take care.
