Something as simple as him touching the snare every time after he hits it with his left hand just shows you how comfortable he is with his kit. How smooth he is and in control.
love this drummer, nothing over the top, everything sounds awesome, and just an all around solid drummer that I feel you could just rely on to do his job well.
yeppp! A LOT of it has to do with how the drummer tunes their kit or sometimes even how loud their monitor on stage is. thank you though! I loved this one too!
Dude. So solid. Perfect example of less is more. And by doing less, a mistake/off beat would be so obvious, but he was fucking right on. If I didn't already know by the 2:50 -ish mark that he was a great drummer, he then threw in some ghost notes for good measure. Super sick, man. EDIT: OH! And freaking REAL DRUM sound?? Unheard of. Sacrilege. I love it
the ironic comments about the drumming being basic but enjoyable to listen too 😂 If you play like him and have gigs like him, chances are you’re not flexin in the youtube comment section
Thankfully they fixed all the audio issues by this point in the show. The first song was so disappointing with the speakers going out and then having them perform The River twice. Enjoyed them and TDWP after though that shit was sick.
It's an 18 inch oriental. Almost every metalcore drummer will use 18 inch Orientals, or 18 inch K-Customs. The trashy sound is too important to the metalcore soundscape.
why the hell is he using that cymbal stand for his left crash, thats like a stand u use if you're learning how to play or if youre broke af. thats the only thing thats wrong with this lol
Eric Murphy yeah I’ve played drums myself for over ten years, it’s just never occurred to me to place my hand on my snare but have recently noticed a lot of metal/metalcore drummers doing it!
Too much China? At the very least, he should have another different sized China cymbal to create a new tone. Especially with the frequency of which he uses that thing. Its god awful repetitive 😫

you take mix from mics or do you use your gear for recording audio? Sounds very nice!
Did you get a State Champs one aswell??
sick video! check out my drum cover of this song
Thank you! Stop by our channel for more videos.
If you think you had a bad day, remember this kick drum.
Yannick Fuda or the Chyna. Thing takes more punishment than the Cleveland Browns
Brandon Roohr i didn't got the joke because i'm french 😂
Haha it's an American football team that has one of the worst records. So they get destroyed most games that they play
Brandon Roohr oh okay hahaha !
I love the little hi-hat fill at 1:05.
Let's just make sure this still works real quick...OKAY BACK TO BUSINESS.
Man he must go through China cymbals like water lol.
Something as simple as him touching the snare every time after he hits it with his left hand just shows you how comfortable he is with his kit. How smooth he is and in control.
Solid drumming for sure. I appreciate that he does not over play.
No matter how loud the drums may be, the "pick it up" screamed by the crowd in the beginning can still be heard. So badass.
THAT SNARE
love this drummer, nothing over the top, everything sounds awesome, and just an all around solid drummer that I feel you could just rely on to do his job well.
This is definitely one of the best sounding drum cams you've ever posted 🔥🔥
yeppp! A LOT of it has to do with how the drummer tunes their kit or sometimes even how loud their monitor on stage is. thank you though! I loved this one too!
cayeminterviews You're welcome!
if you ever do one of these videos with one of my drummers I'll give you a drum mix off the console. ;)
dude is a SURGEON on that kit
very intense and cool drumming.. thanks for sharing!
That placement of his crash cymbals at 1:46 is so simple but effective. I like little nuances like that about his playing.
PICK IT UPPPP
china boy is back
Bruh your snare aint goin nowheres. Haha!
This dude swings that left hand from behind his head almost
Awesome video!!
2:11 that in sync head bangin tho!!!
Mark zuckerburg plays drums?
Joey Madara looks nothing like him. But ok
So clean. That Kit sounds great!
Definitely one of my favourite drummers of our time.
such a good song helped learn it on drums thank you!

I love Wage War, great drumming too!!!
Good stuff man. Fantastic band
This guy's a monster at slamming his kit even when he's playing fast every hit is just as loud and on time

Your videos astound me every time you post great job!
thanks dude! appreciate the kind words
Love how he uses the high hat mid beat, not flashy but sounds good af
honestly love this dudes drumming, It isn't super technical or crazy hard or whatever, but he plays It super tight and his footwork is great
Yess!!!! Wage war 🤘🏼🤘🏼thank you!
Aaron Garcia you’re welcome :)
It may be considered basic but I could give a shit man its fun to listen to
Looks easy
At like 1:44 or 1:45 you can literally see him chip a piece of his china off 😂
2:05 🔥
I'd like to know what the whole parts he uses? Love the sound
Muito louco, demais véi !! ❤👊
I've never seen a drummer beat the shit out of his chyna so much. I love it
Sick!!! Why does he hold the snare after some hits?
chuva c. Quite literally just style. It does nothing for sound
Balance
@Sweet Jones III not at all... what a dumb comment.
Groove.
Thankfully they fixed all the audio issues by this point in the show. The first song was so disappointing with the speakers going out and then having them perform The River twice. Enjoyed them and TDWP after though that shit was sick.
amazing as always, thanks for posting. Do you have more from self help?
:01-:05 oh look, cocaine! 😂😂
Fodaaa!!!
Numm é, num éhhh
Such good videos! What do you use to record the sound? Everything looks great but the sound being awesome is the cherry on top!
RUN AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
Umut seni seviom
bende seni seviom
Stephen may just be the best drummer in metalcore at the moment.
i mean, not if you include jerrod from mmi, matt from abr and dan from architects
Cole Alward fair enough, I love Matt. 👍🏼💯
Cole Alward and ABR in general.
Bryce Barnhart ofc 👍🏼
Chris Turner from Oceans ate Alaska is also insane
Soo awesome!!
Does anyone know which kit is he playing here?
Was that at self help? San Bernardino?
Jeremy Zaragoza yes sir
cayeminterviews duuuuuude.... so jealous you went. I wanted to go so bad. Mad props bro. Your videos are always amazing. Keep it up
That kit sounds like a punch to the fucking face
Also, what camera are you filming with? And I really like your color grading.
Never understood the "tick" some drummers have with touching the snare after hitting it.
Can you get Alex Shelnutt from ADTR pleaseeeeeee
Why he holds the snare so often
SICK! Stoked to see y'all live! Check out my Stitch drum cover!
Braxton Burke dude I just checked your cover and you’re honestly really really good 🤘🏻
man, i didn't know linus played drums.
What size is the china out of curiosity if anyone can tell me? 🤔
18 inches, it's a Zildjian Oriental.
Piper I thought so, thanks! ☺️
What's with the snare fingering?
Anybody know what China he’s using? That shit sounds CRISPY
Fabian Gonzalez its a zildjian oriental china i believe an 18 inch
It's an 18 inch oriental. Almost every metalcore drummer will use 18 inch Orientals, or 18 inch K-Customs. The trashy sound is too important to the metalcore soundscape.
lmao sounds better raw than my cover does mixed
Please tell me you at least got one ADTR drum video
not this time. they literally had a blank stage so I'd essentially be part of the show lol
3:00-3:15 makes my arms hurt
LET'S GO!!!
Quater notes mostly with slam drumming.. like someone who is learning
How the fuck are the drum sounds so isolated??
why the hell is he using that cymbal stand for his left crash, thats like a stand u use if you're learning how to play or if youre broke af. thats the only thing thats wrong with this lol
Chase OA glad im not the only one whos noticed that lol looks like a 10$ cymbal stand
Personal preferences? Lol
Who knew that mark zuckerberg was so good at the drums?
When the drummer has more energy than the rest of the band.
Can someone explain to me why a lot of drummers seem to put their hand on their snare after they hit it?
James Broady I think it’s either to reduce the decay time of the snare “pop” or for him to make sure he doesn’t accidentally hit a rimshot.
Im a drummer and i can confirm its just for balance, kind of do it without noticing a lot
Eric Murphy yeah I’ve played drums myself for over ten years, it’s just never occurred to me to place my hand on my snare but have recently noticed a lot of metal/metalcore drummers doing it!
James Broady I suppose it's a double bass thing haha
for me, I do this because it helps me balance my weight during difficult foot patterns. some do it out of habit or aesthetic though I'm sure!
That snare drag at 2:53
Wow I never noticed until watching this but the drum kicks are very similar to Shadow Moses by Bring Me The Horizon
Needs more china
Man that other videographer constantly getting in your shot bugs the shit out of me. 1 time is ok, but CONSTANTLY.
I Need some Bring me the horizon Videos if they tour this year!
real talk, tweet their drummer and tell him to do a video with me. all that stuff helps get the word out! :)
Good band good drummer, but never understood the hand on the snare thing...
Helps the drummer balance on the throne better, I do it myself as well
Не в моем, сука темпе)))
Drums is so low thou
Too much China? At the very least, he should have another different sized China cymbal to create a new tone. Especially with the frequency of which he uses that thing. Its god awful repetitive 😫
overplaying gets annoying but this dude’s underplaying. Like it’s not interesting
Partially because it’s wage war
Self help kicked so much ass🤘
