Thats a work of art, Davie. Do you do demos or tuition during the Glasgow Angling Centre open days?
Hi BigGoucho,
I used to do them quite regular but they fall at a time when I'm busy or away..I'm glad you liked the fly...
All the very best Davie...
Beautiful fly pattern Davie! What brand of CDC feathers are you using these days? The feathers you selected are full with mostly thin stems.
Hi RiverKeeper Flies,
I bought these feathers from a company in Ireland called Premier Angling and I would say they are some of the best I have used...I'm glad you liked the fly..
All the very best Davie...
Hi Davie, I have probably watched most, if not all of your videos at this stage, what a thrill it must be for a young man to come across your channel when learning to tie flies, wish it was around when I started, My question , although you have a fantastic array of flies I was searching for a pattern to represent the Irish Great Red Sedge or Murrough. I was wondering if you a pattern you could put up?? Thank you.
Hi Michael,
I'm glad that you enjoy the videos I wish UA-cam had been around when I was starting to tye flies many years ago too. I have always felt that it's important to pass on what I have learnt as well to encourage anyone to have a go at this great hobby..I have tyed a few different patterns of the Murrough over the years for friends in Ireland but very basic patterns and most can be found online..I will see what I can do and please get back to me just incase I forget...
All the best Davie...
Great fly! How did you decide on the colors and would you tie it any other colors?
Hi Gregory,
I'm glad you liked the fly....Cinnamon is a great colour for a few caddis patterns and has always worked well for me both on lochs and rivers...Grey, Dark Brown, Black and even Olive are colours worth having though there's a few other mixes that can work as well..
All the very best Davie...
I do have a question what type of wax do you use on your thread is it just a bees wax
Hi richarddvil,
I have attached a link to a video I made on the wax that I use for you to see...

Thank you very much, Davie
Any other colours Davie? I don't have any cinnamon cdc..
Very nice fly !!!!
Hi Chris,
Just use the natural grey instead of the cinnamon as it will work, also you can use deer hair instead of the CDC as this is used on many of the other patterns..I'm glad you like it...
All the very best Davie....
Gorgeous fly. What feather for the antennae?
Hi David,
I'm glad you liked the fly and the antennae are Bronze mallard fibres...
All the very best Davie
Thanks Davie, beautiful as usual. Love those all CDC flies. You make tying look so easy. I am doing better at replicating your flies. The fish are not as particular as I am. All the best, Sean
Davie where you been pal?
Hi Erine,
Just been really busy with work but I will be uploading two or three before the end of the month hopefully...
All the very best Davie...
