*So Far, this Rock rabbit hole has been DOPE! & Deep Purple are Amazing!* 🔥🔥🔥
Please LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE this message on your social media platforms & SUB the channel🔥🔥🖤🖤🖤🖤
Van- please, please react to the Last Waltz version of the Weight by the Band and the Staples! Love ALL your reactions!
Check out "The Mule " from Made in Japan . One bad ass drum solo!
Totally bru. The more we understand each other, the more we understand both the similarities and differences that make us beautiful.
Oh Man you aint seen nothing yet, Purple, Zeppelin and Sabbath were called the unholy trinity and Purple were by far the best, if you want to react to a song then react to Lazy by Deep Purple
Great Reaction and, as you saw, this was written spontaneously about the fire that engulfed the hotel and their equipment in Switzerland while on tour.
Deep Purple, Zeppelin & Sabbath members new each other and hung out together! ✌
With all due respect for Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath and all the hard rockers,Deep purple is the most talented band of all.
Don't stop doing you. And Zappa is probably the most underrated guitar player ever
I was born in 1956, so I lived through classic rock (Elvis, The Platters, etc.), the British Invasion (Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc.), the birth of heavy metal and power rock, and all that's followed. In the 60s, 70s and 80s I thought that the depth and breadth of musical creativity and revolutionary change that took place from the mid 1950s through the early 1980s was just normal. It was only gradually, as the decades went by since the early 1980s, that I realized that I was wrong about that.
However, what I'm seeing now, just in the last few years, is an explosion of absolutely amazing vocal talent: A spike in the number of 'once-in-a-generation' and/or 'once-in-a-century' vocal prodigies, such as Dimash Kudaibergen, Diana Ankudinova and Angelina Jordan (and those are just the best known ones; but you should definitely check those three out, if you haven't yet.) If past history is any guide, the vocal prodigies appear first, followed by the musical revolutionaries who create new genres. We'll see, I guess.
You are correct about this drummer, Sir. Ian Paice was tough. I agree with you. He and Ritchie Blackmore, guitar, were hard. I was Blessed to see Deep Purple in the 80's. Love ya
Rat Bat Blue, Rat Bat Blue, Rat Bat Blue 💪
Oh, yes!!! Do some Zappa!!! This is a rock anthem.
Richie Blackmore has consistently been voted THE 'Greatest rock guitarist in the world' from the '70s onwards, prolly more, over time, than any other guitarist.
He performed tricks & technical skill that even put Jimmy to shame (do research, I tell no word of a lie).
Fact!
5:20 Don't worry about it. All rock fans play the air guitar. I started in the 80's, myself! 🤘🤘
Rock and Roll saves your soul.
When I was about 12-13 (early-mid 1980's) years old I was at a guitar shop looking to buy a new guitar and I was playing this song and out of no where Richie Blackmore came around a stack of amps and showed me the correct way to play the guitar intro!! Man I was so lucky!
Brother don't you dare stop playing air guitar. It is a rite of passage that every young Soul has played air guitar. I still do it to this day. Never stop being you man.
Ian Gillan is THE GREATEST vocalist in rock. Love him. He and Plant . In reality they are only one day apart in age!
Zappa is an eccentric genius. Definitely do some Zappa.
Dont eat the yellow snow, good song
The whiskers are called a soul patch Van...and Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention were incredible, but their music is definitely different. Kind of tells a bizarre story in most cases. But I love Frank Zappa...haven’t listened to him in over 30 years though.
Such classics as Yellow Snow, Jewish Princess, Crew Slut, Catholic Girls, Cocksuckers Ball, the list goes on and on and on..... Some of the best ad libbing in the Rock Music world!
@@adwood201 Titties n Beer !!
@@sailor213100 I've always found it kinda salty tasting.
this song is about a place burning true story. GOD BLESS YOU.
There are certain songs where an air guitar is required (drums, too). This song is none of them. Rock on my friend. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Your best bet is to do a marathon listening to the Live album, "Made in Japan". I think this LP is the best live album of all live albums. Allman Brother live album is consider the best, but I was listening to Made in Japan since 1972 and it was my fix throughout my teenage years. This album will give you a good intro to all the Deep Purple music from the founding members.
Richie Blackmore is the guitarist. He is a genius, but because of his personality, he is shunned by most of rock history. He is a true guitar god.
Zappa was a legend.....
Don't ever stop......if you've never played air guitar or drums to your favorite rock music then you've never truly rocked out
That rick music never gives you up or lets you down.
Ian Paice is no joke, he's a BAD ASS Drummer.
I admit, having seen Purple in '72, Ian Paice was the main reason I wanted to play drums.
Wish I could play like him!
One of the best
Oh my dude...Ritchie Blackmore has a whole career, including Deep Purple. One of the most underrated guitarists to this day. Rock on 🤘😎
No man do your thang, we have all played some air guitar, air drums, you just get into it.
Oh please! Frank Zappa was the man! His group, The Mothers of Invention, could play ANYTHING. Jazz, nightclub music or anything else. His song "Brown shoes don't make it" shows just how original and demented he was.
Bro this was the 1st Rock Concert at the Capitol Centre in Md.I went with my 9th grade Teen Club. They were touring this album. 1973. We got to OK hear about. 3 songs and got rounded up and put back on the bus. Our Teachers were feeling the vibes but they smelled the giant cloud of reefer smoke hanging in the air. Lol So that was that for us 14 yr olds. But bro I saw every super group for 2 decades play there and RFK. So I'll be following you sharing a story or 2. I had it made as a teenager. Rock concert wise anyway.
My favorite guitarist is Eric Clapton. When it comes to musicians, you can't ever pick just one
Frank Zappa is an artist you will enjoy, his music is alot of innuendo and humor, but is great. Definitely a rabbit hole to go down
Don't stop anything that is YOU!
Deep Purple is the G.O.A.T. imo.
Ritchie Blackmore is the G.O.A.T. of Rock Guitarist (Stevie Ray Vaugh is the GOAT of the Blues)
Holy crap, Smoke On The Water was THE event memorialized in a song. The Mothers Of Invention were there. Claude Nobs was helping kids get to safety. The place burned down and the smoke settled on lake Geneva....
Ian Gillan - when a blind man cries this is such a beautiful song play please VAN
You can’t compare zeppelin and deep purple they’re both absolutely amazing in they’re own right and jimmy and Richie were so ahead of their time love them both.
I saw this in concert in Tampa in 1972! Smoke on the Water, Highway Star ! IT WAS AMAZING 🤩💜😎
That lead guitarist would definitely be the best in the world if Jimmy Page didn’t exist
Without Jon Lord , Deep Purple would have been just another Led Zep.
This was made when We Didn't See Color.... when folks ... loved each other... Bro.........
Zappa is genius... Seen him once live. RIP
Blackmore is right up there with Page for most folks.👍
Again, reliving my teenage years!!!
A song you need to hear, "Strange Kind of Woman". This song introduces Ian Gillan, voice dueling with Richie Blackmore, guitar. This song is a must hear....
Ian Gillan on vocals, Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, Roger Glover on bass, Jon Lord on organ/keyboards, Ian Paice on drums. Ritchie Blackmore then formed Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Dio sang in Elf (3 albums). Rainbow was the drummer, bassist and singer for Elf (Ronnie James Dio) with Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. Then Dio recorded 2 albums singing for Black Sabbath. Then Dio went solo and Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan recorded 1 album with Black Sabbath -- Born Again in 1983. Then Deep Purple reunited.
Rainbow is one of my favorite groups.....it is must to check them out. "Stargazer" is epic.
I love Deep Purple, so many fantastic songs
Don't stop doing anything, you do you man.
I clicked like before you even started to listen to the music. The words you spoke mean a lot!
Misic is one of the universal languages that bridges everything......
Although the 1970’s have come n gone and never will be again....the music will hopefully live on. Definitely the best decade of music. Wish I could go back... I hate it here😩
Old school played it on guitar. 30 years ago. Frank Zappa was a damn good guitarist.
Play guitar learn it. It changes you. Express yourself and free yourself. Truth.
Beaucoup de groupes leur doivent beaucoup 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
We all own an air guitar! Don't stop.
Love love love your self reflection and message. Thank you for including us.
You MUST learn about Frank Zappa and what he did for Rock and Roll. He actually went to court because the government wanted to sensor the music! I don't think Rap ever would have made it on the air, without his and a few other musicians efforts! He was very smart. I was fortunate enough to see him live. It was the "Frank Zappa and the Mother's of Invention" tour🤩 Awesome
Ian Paice is my favourite classic rock drummer
With all love and respect! Thanks
One of the most instantly recognizable riffs ever recorded. 🎸🎶🔥
And first riff for many new guitarists 🤚
@@neworld2114
Yes, that was the second song I learned to play. The first - guess what ... - was Stairway To Heaven. And I confess: I play very badly ... 😂😂😂
1st song I learned on the guitar when I was 13. I thought I was so cool. Lol.
@@donnatassa2018 same here- unfortunately I barely progressed 🤣
Everyone who ever tries to learn guitar at some point gets this one down lol
As good as this is... it's nothing compared to their Made in Japan live album version. Deep Purple truly killed it in that recording of this song. Give it a listen if you have time.
The late Frank Zappa was a music legend, RIP...
Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) is one of the best. Wont go as far as saying better than Jimmy. Ritchie plays the riff of this in many different ways including using only his thumb. He was and still is his own and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Deep Purple was really one of the best of all at the time.
If you want something by them that makes even this sound rather plodding, listen to Black Night (Live 1972) by them. It is pulsating and electrifying.
Zappa is not really radio friendly songs but he is oh so genius! and i totes LOVE seeing you have a blast listening to the music that makes me dance and sing and play air guitar, too... LOL ROCK ON!
'Who is Frank Zappa?' You may not be ready for the genius that is FZ....
he is defiantly not ready LOL bring it on
hes asking to learn. he's a kid jeez
“Lazy” & “Space Truckin’!! Bangers 🔥🔥
Between the bottom lip & goatee is the soul patch
Any reasonable person going into it blindly and hears Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin for the first time can hear that Purple had the better musicians and singer. Of course the song compositions is just a matter of taste.
Frank Zappa is a fun listen. He doesn't take things to seriously and his playing is ridiculously good.
You got that Hi-Hat move right. I played many times on my drum kit.
The hair under the lip is a soul patch. Great reaction!
As we'd say way back when "Right on Man"
This song is about true events that happened to them. look up the lyrics... some stupid with a flare gun burnt down the gambling house. It's the most well known riff around the world, became one if not their biggest hit song.
Ironically "the some stupid whit a flare gun" inspired one of the most iconic and beautiful songs on DP ... 😅
Ritchie Blackmore can give any guitar player a run for their money! One of the best.
Get into it with the guitar...man you're feeling it...ita a beautiful thang!!! Peace from this time period from an old rock n roller!❤
The "Funky Claude" running in and out is referring to Claude Nobs, the director of the Montreux Jazz Festival who helped some of the audience escape the fire.
Frank Zappa is a bizarre genius musician. Eclectic brilliance and was always seeking musical perfection in a unique way. He was also tge first artist to combat sensorship of musical lyrics by US government in the early 80s started by the wife of AL Gore, former Vice President. As for Deep Purple, these guys are massively under rated. They are the masters of building a song up to crescendo. It's a real trademark for them. To me, the best example of this is the song
Deep Purple had the best musicians period....Ian Paice, John Lord, Ricihie Blackmore, Roger Glover and Ian Gillan are true musicians.
FRANK ZAPPA A legend, Guitar and lyrical Genius.....
You must list to Frank an album at a time may I suggest Over night sensation. You will not regret it
This is Art
They are killing it. The bass player is exceptional on this song.
Zappa was one of the absolute greatest, no argument, guitarists of all time, a true GOAT!
If you go down the Zappa rabbit hole, you will never be the same afterwards.
NEVER stop doing that, Van!
Deep Purple always “Takes You To Church”!! 🔥🔥🔥
Hello from Cody Wyoming! I'm 1 years late but that's okay you're awesome keep it up.... I have always followed the LFR family JoJo's a crack-up... please don't stop you help me get through my day😊
Excellent jam! Songs based on real events, was about the place they were supposed to play by a late or river whatever, but it burned down ergo smoke was on the water! Keep on rockin out the great jams
Ian Paice and Bonzo are tied for best classic rock drummers of all time Ritche Blackmore is one of the most influetial rock guitarists of all time and influenced many Jon Lord on keyboards was just drop dead awesome! Just 5 super talented guys
Lol! This always takes me back to when my older brother bought this album. The four of us couldn't wait to get home from school to play it. In those days, records were really thick and flexible, so when our mum had had enough of hearing this one song over and over again, she yanked the record off the stereo, tried twisting it, didn't break, then threw it on the cement floor under the house. My other brother picked it up, looked at it, no scratches, put it back on the turn table and it played perfectly. 🤣🤣🤣👌...... Poor mum.
That is Ritchie Blackmore on the lead guitar. Probably the most famous guitar riff on the history of rock music. Guess what Ritchie Blackmore confessed that this guitar riff is the 5th symphony of Beethoven played backwards.
He did say that but I dont believe it. Blackmore was known to do and say things just to mislead people.
Blackmore was known to be difficult to work with.
Lol he also said in Switzerland he heard it on some Hungarian radio station. The othere band members laught at him said he always has intenas on. Meaning he just came up with the riff and said right it's easy. But if the Who can get away it so can they. One thing is certain Roger Glover had a dream the night after the event and woke up saying smoke on the water hence the name.
My brother played bass guitar and made me learn to play this song, he wouldn't let me quit till i could play it.. sweet memories. Thanks.
We all like to play a li'l air guitar now n then. Just keep doing your thang! 👏👏👏
Paice was GREAT, but I think even he would admit Bonzo was THE MAN.
Ian Paice, best drummer ever!!
Keep playing it’s about having fun
Easiest riff in the world anyone can learn it, but it still sounds good.
Franks got a soul patch on his chin..
And he's legendary!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU IAN GILLAN IS SO BEAUTIFUL. You just made all of his videos even better to watch
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention,Zappa lead the way into not being pigeon toed in a category. He was always expanding on his music. Listen to Zoot Allures the torture never stops or wind up workin in a gas station. The whole album is killer but theses two tracks are top in my opinion.
The organ player was the late great Jon Lord and the bass player was Roger Glover who also played in Rainbow with Deep Purples lead guitarist Richie Blackmore, and yes him and Jimmy Paige were two of the best at this time!
Play air guitar all you want:) This has to be one of the most iconic songs in rock history. Rock was always rebellious. It helped so many people and its great to see it being appreciated and being useful once again. If ever there was a time for
rebellion, this is it.
OK, now you have experienced Deep Purple mark II. Time to listen to mark III. Look up the song Burn live 1974 at the California jam. New singer and new bass player. You will hear not only one but two of the best singers ever. You lucky person!!!
This song is one of the most recognisable rock songs ever based on a true story. Every young guitar player has practiced it. So much that music stores had signs saying, " No more Smoke on the water" 😃
When I went into a musical instrument store to buy my guitar there was this warning and another one that said "No Stairway To Heaven" ... I think people can't take it anymore but I hear both ... every day. I love these songs 🎶🎸🎶
