Love In Vain Blues (Robert Weideli, 1981)

Die ersten Songs von Robert Johnson hörte ich im Jahre 1962, als ich Musikladen Jecklin in Zürich in einer Musik-Kabine sass und die LP anhörte:

Sofort war ich von diesem Sound elektrisiert, denn sowas hatte ich bisher noch nie aber gar nie gehört, obwohl ich mir damals schon seit fast 5 Jahren Jazz- und amerikanische Bluesmusik anhörte. In der Folge kaufte ich alle Platten die damals von Robert Johnson erhältlich waren. Informationen über ihn gab es aber fast keine und auch die Fotos wurden erst Jahre später entdeckt. Viele Blueser und Rockmusiker der Zeit griffen seine Songs auf und gaben Coverversionen heraus, was ihn auch bei einem breiteren Publikum bekannt machte. (Eric Clapton, Cream, Rolling Stones usw.) Der Song «Love In Vain» wurde vielfach interpretiert. Meine Cover-Version stammt aus dem Jahre 1981 und unterscheidet sich deutlich vom Original. Es wurde aufgenommen von YuCheen Hubschmid in Gattikon (Switzerland) on a Revox-Tape-Maschine.

I heard the first songs by Robert Johnson in 1962 when I was sitting in a music booth at Musikladen Jecklin in Zurich and listening to the LP:

I was immediately electrified by this sound, because I had never heard anything like it before, even though I had been listening to jazz and American blues music for almost 5 years. As a result, I bought all the records that were available from Robert Johnson at the time. There was almost no information about him at the time and the photos were only discovered years later. Many bluesers and rock musicians of the time picked up his songs and released cover versions, which made him known to a wider audience. (Eric Clapton, Cream, Rolling Stones etc.) The song "Love In Vain" has been interpreted many times. My cover-version is from 1981 and yet differs significantly from the original. It was recorded by YuCheen Hubschmid in Gattikon (Switzerland) on a Revox tape machine.
