they literally won a championship 10 years ago almost to the day. And they won another one q2 years before that. Very few schools have 3 or more championships since the bcs era started. And I'm pretty sure ohio state has the highest win percentage of all of them?
Ohio State is #11 in overall NIL spending. The Top 10 is dominated by SEC schools. OSU spent the most LAST YEAR in the portal .. but barely. These amateur media talking heads keep repeating the same BS.
Yup…and OSU has been a recruiting super power on par with the sec forever…OSU isn’t the “big 10”. None of these non OSU midwestern schools recruit like top SEC programs. Michigan isn’t, Penn State isn’t…the rest of the Midwest is a joke lol.
Transfer Portal is more important for parity than NIL, and thats why non-SEC schools are winning more now. Star and depth SEC players from the South are searching for playing time after their 1st year at an SEC school. Arizona, Arizona State, SMU, TCU, Georgia Tech, Louisville, BYU, Colorado all had their best teams they've had in years during the tranfer portal era within the last 3 years and none of them are huge Big 10 schools. Big 10 is set up to be the best conference for a while, bur it isn't purely due to NIL. Playing Time = Game Film = NFL Opportunity
You act as if this only affects the SEC? So it doesn't affect the BIG10? LSU would say otherwise in recent years winning a Championship because of a QB that came out of TOSU.
That conservative play calling in the 3rd and 4th quarters almost came back to bite Kelly and Day too many QB runs they could've stayed aggressive and blow out this Irish team! But finally the bomb to Smith finally made an aggressive Play to seal the game.
I don’t think they got conservative, go back and look. Up 31-15 at the start of 4th and score on every drive and Emeka fumbled at the ND 20 or it was gonna be 38-15. Then after ND missed the FG, it was 3rd and 3 on their own 40 and Howard missed Smith wide open for an easy 1st down on a short out for their only punt. Then maybe the 2 straight runs by Will on 1st and 10 were “conservative” but that play worked a lot. And you follow those up with a 50 yard bomb. I think it was perfect play calling.
Crazy how they spin the narrative. Texas and Oregon spent just as much money as OSU, but they correct that now everyone can pay players not just SEC teams
As a Ram fan, these two are usually spot on but the Ben Johnson and Caleb take are wild. Johnson hiring Denis Allen is exactly what McVay did in 2017 when hiring Wade Phillips. The Bears are not a bad roster besides their OL. They have a top 10-15 defense, weapons all over from Swift to Moore/Odunze to Coke Kmet, and a young rising qb with tons of potential. All you have to do is fix the offense schematically and address the shit outta the OL. They are both so outta their mind lol. The Bears were EASILY the best job on the market.
He's not wrong. There's nothing wrong with a university giving players money to play football. It doesn't devalue the championship. He's just saying this is how the sports shifted, not that it's bad or that ohio state is wrong for using its advantages.
Michigan was the only blemish. I SWORE that OSU was going to go on a run of knocking off top 4 Indiana, Redemption against Michigan, redemption against Oregon, and go on to win it all. They lost to Michigan got seeded in the worst bracket and still ripped it off lol
Ohio State is by far most popular team in a state of 11 million people, similar situation for Penn State. SEC schools mostly in smaller and less affluent states

They beat SIX out of the other 11 teams in the playoffs. That’s extremely impressive.

FYI GA did compete with TX and won twice-once in Austin. And GA wasn't good this year. I grew up in Ga and couldn't care less about the Falcons. Mercedes Benz Stadium(Bryant Denny East, Sanford Stadium West) is a great stadium that deserves a better team.
@1:37 he answers it... He's building the case the Ohio state has pro football players at every position, the talent discrepancy between them and Notre Dame/Oregon became beyond evident in the first half. This is only possible in the modern college game via a robust NIL program
So what Colin is saying is that if you want to have a successful and lucrative career, go to a Big 10 school so that you'll be wealthy enough to have a fancy house in Sarasota and still have enough leftover cash to be a big donor to your alma mater. The implication is then that if you go to an SEC school, you won't have that kind of discretionary spending cash. Colin is saying that Big 10 schools put out very successful graduates, SEC schools do not. Nothing to do with the athletes or the sports programs, but if you're just looking for a worthwhile education to lead to financial success, go north. Quite a slam on the SEC schools for providing inadequate education to their graduates, resulting in a poorer alumni base.
You hear all this you would think the big 10 has all the best recruiting classes this year. Then you look it up and realize the sec has 8 of the top 11 recruiting classes in 2025
People thought the 12 team playoff would mean more cinderellas but it actually gives elite teams like Ohio State the opportunity to crap the bed and still go on a run

Yo Colin I’m a fan! We met years ago when you came to Columbus in 2007 to do a show. I was working security at Eddie Gorge’s Grill. Back then I swore you hated OSU lol You proved me wrong, man. Take care and GO BUCKS!
Lord. Stop whining about NIL (which I hate, BTW). It's no excuse. SEC devotees are simply upset that the SEC no longer has the "under-the-table" financial advantage they've had for decades, and their unholy financial alliance with ESPN is crumbling. It's no surprise that SEC dominance ended when NIL was introduced. That all said, I hate NIL.
I love the Big10 and absolutely hate the SEC, but this is nonsense. The evidence simply does not support this theory. The SEC still dominants the incoming class. In 2025, per 247, SEC teams control 7 of the top 10 spot, including #1 (Texas), #2 (Georgia), and #4 (Bama). Only 3 Big10 teams made the top10 list, OSU (#3), Oregon (#5), and Michigan (#9). On the transfer portal things look more or less the same: complete SEC domination. The same was true in 2024 and 2023 (and obviously before). So I WISH you were right and that the SEC teams were out of money and unable to recruit, but the evidence clearly shows that's not the case. The reason seems clear to me: College football brings in so much $$ to those universities, and the question is mainly how much of which you are willing to put back into the football program. At the SEC the answer is basically everything and then some. For many of the Big10 the football teams support so many other activities.
NIL was introduced for players like Reggie Bush, Tim Tebow, and many others of that caliber who were bringing insane amounts of money to their schools. Kind of weird how it turned into paying $250k straight up for a player
Really?? NIL?!? We just won THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP after beating ALL of the best teams in Nation who ALSO spent almost as much as Ohio State! The SEC has been paying players ILLEGALLY for DECADES - so the playing field is now LEVEL. GO BUCKS!!! O-H!!! 🫶🏼🙌🏼❤️🏆🔥🕺🏻😎
As a Buckeye graduate, Notre Dame showed heart like no other. If Notre Dame fans can't be proud of that, you are a miserable person. Don't be that person who hated Day and his 71-8 record. I added one from when Harblow ducked Day on the field of competition and subtracted two when he cheated. Now that the season is over, those will be vacated.
the way this sounds is like a professional NBA player (Ohio State) telling a high school basketball player "you showed heart kid, but we knew how this would end up"
I'm definitely proud of their season. They accomplished a few things they hadn't in DECADES or at all. Some big bowl Ws, three playoff wins overall when they had none previous. Future looks good if they can keep plugging away. Ohio state was simply too good. All credit to em.
Notre Dame returns 13 starters, plus the entire o line plus 3 oline man that have another year if they stay! Plus another 5 star qb, and the best de in the country coming in….plus some really good wideouts.
I work for a large corporation and it is loaded with OSU, Michigan and Penn State alums. It isn’t that I wasn’t qualified, but it is hard for me to believe that being an alumni didn’t have any impact on getting hired in.
3:14 this is where I vacation each year. It is definitely Big Ten all through this area. Along the coast from Sarasota for about 30-40 miles, there are tons of OSU and Michigan fans, donors and alumni. I have my buckeye hat on regularly and I always run into other fans.
Chris Fowler put the kibosh on Emeka Egbuka when he started talking about Ohio State has not lost a fumble, etc. As soon as he started talking about it, I said shut-up
I was screaming at them at the end when they were talking about the FG, OSU not having one blocked all year. Thankfully it wasn't and he made it, but dang.
now that the playing field has leveled out a lot more, it's not surprising that to see the SEC no longer dominate in the same manner. NIL + 12 team playoff added significant parity to this sport.
Bama, LSU, Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M will all still get ELITE talent from in-state and surrounding area kids...BUT...if those kids aren't starting by the time they are sophomores, they are transfering to non-southeastern schools to get game film for the NFL. The age of sitting talented players is OVER.
It’s not NIL that’s the problem, it the transfer portal. The same time it became legal to pay players the rules for transferring had to change. If they went back to having to sit out a year if you transfer and maybe cap the total transfers allowed these kids might not be so quick to jump from school to school.
ND trying a meaningless FG down at the 10 late 4th qtr was a terrible call. You need to go for that at that point in the game . Missed it anyway. Even if he makes it, you still need two touchdowns. SMH
With 4 minutes left in the game they were down by only 8. If they could get OSU off of the field, they would have had multiple minutes to get a TD and gone for two (which they were 2-2). The math checks out and they had a reasonable and logical win condition. Making that field goal would have had them in even better position, but it certainly didn’t hurt.
I thought it was a bad call as well, but it was a 3 possession game regardless if you are going to for the win. Plus had they made the FG and the game played out the same, then ND would have covered lol.
He said, people leave the midwest because they're not enough jobs, they leave for the coast. That's ridiculous. There are plenty of jobs in the midwest l o l.
These two have become my first choice for post game wrap up. Really enjoy their enthusiasm and synergy. It's great to have them on so quickly to enjoy. It's like the 19th hole discussion after a round with ur friends.
Been saying the Big Ten was going to take over when they became a coast to coast conference and then NIL happened. The Big Ten has all of the biggest TV markets and all those eyes watching that conference means more endorsement dollars which means the best players. Follow the money.
I love hearing the SEC guys cry now that we all get to pay players. Oregon has Nike money and Ohio State is one of two teams in a substantial US city with no major professional sports to compete with (Texas is the other team and no the Blue Jackets don't count).
It is funny how they refused to mention the elephant in the room directly. The SEC was cheating by paying players. They are struggling now because it's an even playing field 🤣

Where are you pulling that list from?
Just a bunch of SEC apologists.

Yup…and OSU has been a recruiting super power on par with the sec forever…OSU isn’t the “big 10”. None of these non OSU midwestern schools recruit like top SEC programs. Michigan isn’t, Penn State isn’t…the rest of the Midwest is a joke lol.
They were #2 overall behind only Texas. Ohio State’s 1870 Society is the #1 NIL collective in the country.
SEC dominated when no one could legally pay players, and the very minute everyone could pay players legally, and they sink.

Smith would be an average WR in the ACC.
@@chrisuncleahmad789 yeah cause the QBs in the ACC are dog water
The conservative play calling makes sense if not for the self inflicted mistakes
They would have been up 23 without the Egbuka fumble.
That last bomb to smith cashed 2 of my parlays 🙏🏽

One of the biggest shames with the football season coming to a close is losing these podcasts, every single week these guys deliver
OSU wins and all you talk about is money ? ND paid more than OSU did. That was a legendary REDEMPTION run for OSU and coach Day. GO BUCKS
TX and OR also spent more than OSU.
TampaDE5 Colin is a moron. This was an incredible run for OSU.

UGA is overrated. Ranked 2nd and got dominated by ND. Couldn’t beat bama back to back year too. Bama is your daddy
1:33 wtf are you talking about 😂
Right..lol
What can I say, its the B1G, It just means more. O-H!

College coaches want those seniors back for the physical superiority, particularly on the line and defense.
No it's thst they don't have a monopoly on recruiting pipelines. That's why saban left. It's more spread out now.
Yeah I do not feel bad for the south whatsoever, there’s money in the south, players just go where they can win.
funny how you and colin said the sec was ending in 2014
I love the Big10 and absolutely hate the SEC, but this is nonsense.
Ohio State proved that you can win honorably without cheating.
The Buckeyes are now the best winners in college football.
NIL was introduced for players like Reggie Bush, Tim Tebow, and many others of that caliber who were bringing insane amounts of money to their schools. Kind of weird how it turned into paying $250k straight up for a player
Al Golden should be looking for a new job as his defense scheme was horrible
Every OSU receiver was 5 yds wide open on every play
It was only close because of the Fumble - OSU should’ve put up 50 on ND - Day had mercy on ND at the end -
Could’ve scored again
Ohio State was 11th in NIL spending in 2024. But keep making excuses.
Really??
Now that the season is over, those will be vacated.
the way this sounds is like a professional NBA player (Ohio State) telling a high school basketball player "you showed heart kid, but we knew how this would end up"
Wow so amazing players in college making 100k+ year & free room & board put forth an effort 😂
I think they should vacate the games with Stallions on the staff possibly. No way to know how much that impacted games.
Dudes...you spent the first 13 minutes plus just talking the NIL money situation. What about the damn football game?
This whole nil talking point is dumb and beneath you. They just played three consecutive teams with MORE NIL roster payout. Irrelevant.
It's disgusting
SMU and TCU have rich alumni, watch out
How is it one off when the past two champs is Ohio State and Michigan? Not just one team from a conference dominating.
Very insightful, Thanks
If you look outside of tech,
Most of the C-Suite people went to Big 10 schools.
I’ve noticed that in my professional career. There’s a lot of truth to that. A lot of the officers in the Army when I was in were Big 10 graduates.
I work for a large corporation and it is loaded with OSU, Michigan and Penn State alums. It isn’t that I wasn’t qualified, but it is hard for me to believe that being an alumni didn’t have any impact on getting hired in.
NYC is filled with plenty of Midwestern people. Michigan guys all over Wall Street and Ohio guys down south in Florida running businesses.

Will Lou Holtz, Lee Corso, and Desmond Howard admit that they were flat-out wrong how supposedly Notre Dame was going to beat Ohio State?
JFC all the corporate sports NFL pundits all picked Detroit - no one apologizing , weird AF comment
Desmond looked angry at half time. Think he was mad a brother was going to lose to OSU and that he has to hear OSU fans crow about being the champs.

I hope it all works out for the lions. Detroit and buffalo fans deserve a superbowl
Are they gonna break down and talk about the game
Bama, LSU, Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M will all still get ELITE talent from in-state and surrounding area kids...BUT...if those kids aren't starting by the time they are sophomores, they are transfering to non-southeastern schools to get game film for the NFL. The age of sitting talented players is OVER.
Can we get more talk about the actual game? I feel Marcus freeman deserves credit for making it a somewhat competitive game given the talent mismatch

@ when they tried that field goal and missed , it was 31-15. If the field goal was good and makes it 31-18 and they still need 2 touchdowns .
I thought it was a bad call as well, but it was a 3 possession game regardless if you are going to for the win. Plus had they made the FG and the game played out the same, then ND would have covered lol.
