Like Colin said, Franklin's a fantastic recruiter. NiL only strengthens his hand with all that sweet sweet big10 money.
Let's put together a decade or 2 of big10 dominance in cfb. It'd be awesome to see all the seniors Penn state is returning get to hoist a trophy just like our seniors got to this year.

Two parts - Get the players. Then, win the games and land the plane. Your still going against other 15-20M rosters, in a 12 team format. Not exactly a cale walk to turn this collection of players into a team. Ryan landed the plane. This is a giant accomplishment for The Ohio State University. Ryan Day went from that disgusting Michigan loss and redeemed himself in 4 games and 51 days. Ryan is 70-10 as a HC. 5-3 in the CFP with a Chip. Culture is better than it's been in a decade and they recruit top five classes every year. The talent assessment is off the charts. You still have to pick the right guys. Ryan picked the most underappreciated QB in bigtime football in Will Howard and that dude took an opportunity and raised his draft stock at least two rounds. He didn't grade well and took a chance on Ryan and this team. Will Howard deserves all his flowers for this season.

USC just doesn’t have the alumni base or donors to compete on the same level. They have the same issue as the SEC schools. @johnrodriguez6480 I'm from Ohio, so am a Buckeyes fan. Yet, as a Catholic, I also like Notre Dame (in fact, almost attended there). This did look like it was going to be a real blow out-- and, in fact, I do think it would have been if OSU simply kept their same aggressive gameplan on offense once they got up by 24 in the mid-3rd (I understand the idea behind milking the clock, but I think OSU started that too soon; if they would have kept their foot on the gas, I think they win this in a route). YET, I DO give UND much credit for hanging in there and making a number of VERY clutch plays to actually make this a game. So, as much as I would have preferred OSU to have kept the dominance going (and so win in a rout), I'm also glad for the UND players and fans who can leave this game with their heads high (they fought back to avoid an embarrassing loss, and even put themselves in a position to possibly win, something they can be proud of).

Transfer Portal is more important for parity than NIL, and thats why non-SEC schools are winning more now. Star and depth SEC players from the South are searching for playing time after their 1st year at an SEC school. Arizona, Arizona State, SMU, TCU, Georgia Tech, Louisville, BYU, Colorado all had their best teams they've had in years during the tranfer portal era within the last 3 years and none of them are huge Big 10 schools. Big 10 is set up to be the best conference for a while, bur it isn't purely due to NIL.

Then after ND missed the FG, it was 3rd and 3 on their own 40 and Howard missed Smith wide open for an easy 1st down on a short out for their only punt. Then maybe the 2 straight runs by Will on 1st and 10 were “conservative” but that play worked a lot. And you follow those up with a 50 yard bomb. I think it was perfect play calling.

The Bears are not a bad roster besides their OL. They have a top 10-15 defense, weapons all over from Swift to Moore/Odunze to Coke Kmet, and a young rising qb with tons of potential. All you have to do is fix the offense schematically and address the shit outta the OL. They are both so outta their mind lol. The Bears were EASILY the best job on the market.

So what Colin is saying is that if you want to have a successful and lucrative career, go to a Big 10 school so that you'll be wealthy enough to have a fancy house in Sarasota and still have enough leftover cash to be a big donor to your alma mater. The implication is then that if you go to an SEC school, you won't have that kind of discretionary spending cash. Colin is saying that Big 10 schools put out very successful graduates, SEC schools do not. Nothing to do with the athletes or the sports programs, but if you're just looking for a worthwhile education to lead to financial success, go north. Quite a slam on the SEC schools for providing inadequate education to their graduates, resulting in a poorer alumni base.

I love the Big10 and absolutely hate the SEC, but this is nonsense. The evidence simply does not support this theory. The SEC still dominants the incoming class. In 2025, per 247, SEC teams control 7 of the top 10 spot, including #1 (Texas), #2 (Georgia), and #4 (Bama). Only 3 Big10 teams made the top10 list, OSU (#3), Oregon (#5), and Michigan (#9). On the transfer portal things look more or less the same: complete SEC domination. The same was true in 2024 and 2023 (and obviously before). So I WISH you were right and that the SEC teams were out of money and unable to recruit, but the evidence clearly shows that's not the case. The reason seems clear to me: College football brings in so much $$ to those universities, and the question is mainly how much of which you are willing to put back into the football program. At the SEC the answer is basically everything and then some. For many of the Big10 the football teams support so many other activities.
