Been shooting hornady vmax .17hmr out of many different guns and they seem to be most consistant round.Tikka rifles are one of the best out of the box rifles I have owned.Very smooth action and very accurate.TheTikka bolt action rifle is more reliable than the savage A 17 or their bolt action version. The A 17 constantly jammed and I got rid of it.
I agree, I am use to breaking in a new barrel on my custom wildcat calibred rifles but if you look at some of the videos, these new rifles seem to shoot superbly straight from the box and with factory ammo, puts my reloads to shame sometimes!
In my experience the stainless barrels need a around 50 rounds to settle in. The only one of my stainless Tikkas that was stellar out of the box was my 300 WSM.
Hi , what would you consider the effective range of the 17 hmr ( what was the typical distance of those rabbits ? ) I have mine zeroed at 100 yards and sometimes it will put 10 shots under an inch but at other times its awful !
Hey Bruce! How would you compare this to something like CZ 457 series in 17 hmr? Are they more or less on par with each other, or does Tikka have something special up its sleeve? Thanks
Hi, Horses for courses really, the CZ` s are always great and good value but Tikka have always been a favourite to be honest and the action to me looks nicer.
Tikka has a much crisper trigger (also added after mkt trigger spring to get pw below 1lb)and shorter bolt throw(45 degree)are 2 of my favorite differences of the T1X v. CZ.

Sako / Tikka recommend no barrel break in is necessary on their rifles. Got to be happy with groups like that, well done.

That's very interesting. I have a polymer 17hmr T1X and the CCI shoot very poorly.
Hi Thanks for the comment, Funnily enough my own T1X polymer loves CCI Game Points but can be a bit iffy with the TNT`s and NTX`s some times.
I have the same rifle, Hornady 17g V-Max seems to run real good in it.
@@aliceduser6347 absolutely the case with mine too! Head and shoulders above anything I've tried... Winchester, CCI ETC
@@ExploretheMallee Same, mine doesn't like anything else.

CZ's are right up there but there beauty is you can buy barrels & mags & have 3 rimfires for the 1 stock.

What's the advantage of the 'hunter' model with the wood stock vs the MBR black stock?
Woww amazing👍👍
would someone please tell whether the trigger guard and bolt are polymer made or metal in this model?
Mch nicer looking outfit with the wood stick IMO,
what's the range you do with your target shooting?
With this 17 HMR it is 50 yards and all other centrefire rifles is 100 yards
@@broadswordballistics what scope are you using ?

You can bag bigger animals like wild hogs and deers with this caliber in good hands..
