I have been having the same problem for quite some time. I took the top engine cover off and found a rusty flywheel (magneto). I sanded and cleaned it thoroughly and it has all its power back.
I just fixed this problem in mine…I found that the exhaust valve was all burnt up & deformed, & not sealing correctly. Possibly the wrong valve to. I think the exhaust valve was an intake valve. I put brand new oem valves in & lapped the valves & adjusted the rockers at TDC, also increased the RPM some & boy what a differance. Night & day. Cuts through grass that used to bog it down.
Head gasket failure is a common problem with these engines, they usually fail on the exhaust side. 12 bucks for a replacement gasket on Amazon. About an hour job.
dude your garage is worse than mine! lol :) btw, dull blades will just kill your engine when trying to cut tall grass, make sure your blades are razor sharp

It would have been nice if you could have made these 3 videos into a 4-5min one. 🤝🙂

So what was the actual solution?
Head gasket
@@sxewhodey was that a costly repair?
Yeah thats a dry, unlubricated sound squeaking and laboring the machine on engagement.
I agree
Check your spindles, and the big pulley, make sure they aren't starting to go or hard to turn, it shouldn't make that noise mine doesn't
