- I will be driving my 2021 Ford Bronco 2.3L Outer Banks Bronco all the way from Tampa, FL to Hurricane, UT for the 2023 United by Bronco event held at Sand Hallow State Park. Quick google search shows that camper is both over towing capacity and hitch weight. Looks like you had a weight distribution hitch but curious the justification for going over towing capacity.
I have the same question . I want a bronco myself and saw that the camper is over tow capacity with dry weight alone

this is sweet! but after looking at the specs once youre loaded up and have everything inside plus the extra weight of the mods and accessories i would bet you are overloading the bronco. would love to see it all packed up in the trailer and bronco plus the weight of the people inside on a weight scale cause im betting your going to be over your GVWR
You were getting me emotional, just seeing how happy/excited you were. Sometimes, when we’ve been through a some difficult times, it just makes the new highs seem so much more spectacular.
Grand Design sure seems to have done a great job on this unit. It’s funny, just before you mentioned it, I was thinking that the storage space could be used for a bedroom for one of the young’uns.

EASY FIX! We have an easy fix for your tire and electric jack. We have nearly the same setup. However, we have a Sonic Lite for our Bronco 6g. The head of the electronic jack can be detached and turned 180° giving you the space to fit the 5th tire. This will alleviate any rear camera or remounting. Only turn the head, not the entire base.

really curious to see the hitch setup. I have the electric tongue jack as well. Had to take it apart and turn around. Then had to add a 6: extender to keep the spare tire on. I don't like how my bronco sags in the back.
Pretty sure I passed you tonight on I-40 after that construction in New Mexico! It was dark, but not too many Broncos pulling an RV like that. I'll be interested in your post trip report on how it did. Safe travels home.

If you haven't munched the spare time carrier with the electric jack control yet, just give it time. All it takes is a good size dip pullng in somewhere. I used to have the same problem with my toyhauler and Hummer H2. One idea to run by Grand Design is to have them extend the tongue out a bit on the trailer. It would be beneficial for Bronco and Wrangler owners. I put a 4 foot tongue on my utility trailer when I made it and it works perfect with my Wrangler. Looks like a perfect little trailer for a smaller SUV.

Question,,,What did you guys do different to be able to tow 4,795 LBS with your Bronco. Tongue weight is only 350 LBS with max tow weight of 3500 LBS. Mine is 3260 LBS and 320 LBS. Curious. Love your camper but not sure I would be good towing this much over manufacturer specs.
The dry weight is closer to towing capacity of Bronco, I never drive with tanks loaded and have a good equalizer hitch and trailer brake. I have towed over 10k miles no problem.
Very similar to the Sun-Lite 16BH, which has some crazy features for a Bronco towable trailer. Very cool unit, some things I like better about your 15BH and some things I like better about the Sun-Lite 16BH.
Edit: The Grand Design 15BH is actually considerably heavier and 3 feet longer than my Sunset Park RV Sun-Lite 16BH.
I was looking at the sunlite 16bh , how does it tow with the bronco? I have a 4dr sas badlands. Whats your fuel economy like, etc?
@@skoVBA2 It's no problem towing with my 2 door, the 4 door will only feel more stable/comfortable with its longer wheelbase. I get about 11 mpg through texas hill country at 70+ MPH. I wouldn't tow it much faster than 70 with the 2 door.
What kind of suspension do you have on the bronco?
The kind that shouldn't be towing this much weight.

I am willing to bet that brand new it is between $20-25k.

Having towed for last 20 yrs im really wanting to know how it tows? You are over weight for sure. That camper is dry at 3500 pounds. Loaded it has to be 4500. The tail must be wagging the dog and if its not you better hope you never get weighed.
Not sure about this 15BH from Grand Designs, but my Sunset Park RV Sun-Lite 16BH is about the same size and is only 2450 lbs.
Plus the short wheel base could be a problem when next to a big rig.

@@mad125100 yes, but I don't think that the 2.3 would have struggled with the aerodynamics, but probably used more fuel based on her setup. When I am setup for fuel efficiency, I get much better mileage than Krista just be of the lower rolling resistance of the factory OBX tires.
Her camper is actually a 1000 lbs heavier than mine, I made a mistake thinking that her camper was similar in weight and size to mine. It is not.
Your 2.3L can tow that?
300 HP can pull a pretty heavy load. My Peterbilt is only 475 HP.
