Thank you for your great tutorial.
Scored myself a free SP414 that wouldn’t keep running after the initial primer start and needed constant primer pumps to keep it going. Followed this video and yes the carb was full of crud. Now runs a dream. 👍

Hi Mick good repair, I have in the past bent the spring that attaches to the drive so it can’t come off, but your repair fixed it👍 as for Torch spark plugs I’ve never ever had a problem with them, my work mowers rarely get a service and most have been running Torch plugs for 2/3 years now. I like them. Good video🙂👍

    • @themowerman

Yeah some seem to be ok but with the low end stuff that comes in I see that the plugs are bad and all seem to be the same. Saying that I had a brand new NGK out a box was bad too.. it's a pop luck thing I suppose.. that mower is selling today so for a free mower I'm as happy as larry.. hope you are all good mate and keeping safe

Don’t know what you were like at pulling the birds in your day big fella, but you can certainly pull a mower. Mountfield certainly take some stick in some quarters, but are amazing for the price point. The more expensive ones rock in general, and looked after are good quality machines. That is another great job Sir , and think you are wrong as regards people getting bored , because your videos are concise and very helpful knowledge builders 👍 Tam.

My RS100 has an issue where it starts and then engine stops after a few seconds. I’ve cleaned the carb as described in the video (less the micro drills), and have even stripped and cleaned in an ultrasonic tank with carb cleaner. The carb and jets look spotless, yet the engine issue persists.
The only problem I can potentially see is the slow speed jet, which is not blocked but the hole seems very small. So small not even a sewing needle will enter it. Is this normal?
If not the slow speed jet, I’m lost for ideas and welcome any suggestions of what to look at next.
    Thanks
