Em's dad walked out when he was 6-18 months old and moved to California. Em and his mother kept a relationship with his dad's mom. Em would be at her house, his dad would call, but he wouldn't ever talk to him. Then as a teen Em wrote him letters, and they were all returned unopened. When Eminem blew up his dad tried to get in contact, but Em wanted nothing to do with him. His dad then wrote a letter, and had it published in a newspaper. He said Em only knew lies about him, and he loved him, etc. He included a picture of him holding Em as a baby. Em's not the type to forgive someone like that, Especially a family member. Em's greatest fear was growing up to be like him, it shaped his entire life, and he's an exceptional father.
That's all you need to know...because there's 2 options for people that grow through hell....do you repeat the horror that you went through cause you effed up or ARE YOU still obviously effed up but you vow to the day you die to never do what your dad (or whomever) did to you. EM went that route. Sadly there's a 3rd road I went down. I didnt trust either of my parents & I was determined to break this clusterfluck of a horror...so I'm 46...haven't seen dad in 28yrs, mom came around but passed in Covid last year, and I made sure I WOULD NOT have a child to take a chance of perpetuating this disaster for future generations that's in my brain and soul.
My bad got on a tangent but you get point. Em fixed his shit. He's a damn hero and a legend

He literally forgave his mom. This song saddens me because on one note I understand the resentment. But when I look at his father then look at myself. Bruh I don’t have the same mindset I had 10 years ago. On first glance it looked like he just wanted to contact Em after he blew up because the world hated him. But then I think about it and as we grow and get closer to death we realize how important it is to not have a bad legacy. I think at some point his pops felt a whirlwind of shame and wanted to right those wrongs. But it was too late. I wonder if as Em gets to an elderly age he will regret not making peace n having that closure.
You never know his mum could of twisted it a bit too and pulled of the “your dad hates you son” on him and made up stuff to add to the fire some parents can be toxic that way or he was simply a dead beat dad
Em's story telling is sick !!!!!!!!!!!! He has this way of connecting with you through his music and for the life of me I don't get why this man is hated let alone the dislikes on this reaction. Music impacts us differently, I relate and I for one am a STAN of you guys. Much love from Zimbabwe

Em's dad left when he was 6 months old. Em tried to contact him when he was a kid, but his letters came back "return to sender". In one of his songs Em said, that as a kid he would sit on the steps, and wait for a dad that never came😥When Em blew up, his dad showed up on tv holding baby pictures of Em, and saying he was proud of him. His dad died a couple of years ago. Love your Em reactions 🔥

Everyone has their own stories and reasons why they are who they are today, and like Em said, if his dad would've been there, who knows how is life would've turned out. With that being said, I think your listeners can relate just as much where you coming from when comes to hard times and some still as they watch vids going through it. UA-cam theses days have become what 90s where with cds and just putting them big headphones on to zone out. And some even as adults to this day. Everyone got a story. One of many story's, when was homeless reaction vids help cause made me feel like was chilling with someone and it calmed and helped the lonely shit.
