Fantastic video! I have the smaller iPad, but yes, it’s too small… I’ll fork out the $$$$ and get the bigger one - just for music. True that I’m tired of going through all my music library to find things that I can’t find!
There are cheaper Android tablets from Samsung now, that comes with the pen. I haven't used Android myself, because I'm stuck with iPad, but you may want to check out Android tablet and apps, too.
I LOVE your video!! I sing in a choir and I'm a beginner piano player - I'm looking forward to singing/marking my alto part with the iPAD ad pencil for both singing and piano! :) YOU ARE SO FUNNY, DUDE !! And Adorable. :) SUPER HELPFUL VIDEO
Thank you! This should work for choral music, too. The best part is that you don't have to shuffle through multiple booklets anymore! You can just create a playlist and all the music you need is there.
I heard many good things about Mobile Sheets Pro. If I had an Android tablet, that's what I would try. But unfortunately for me, now that I've been using iPad for a while, it won't be easy to migrate all the music with my markings and setlists to another system.
Hi there, good video. And for the Android lovers, I use the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. Is a little bit less expensive, and you get a pensil with it. As app you need Mobilesheets pro. And then you can do the same things as on the iPad with For score. I use it for almost a year, and even with large partituurs it is verry usefull.
If I was to switch to Android, they are my current #1 candidate device/app. Maybe I will make the move when my iPad starts to die again or when I'm fed up with Apple (I already am, but still the burden of having to manually migrate all of my music collection is keeping me stuck here :) ).
I’m using Forscore and Apple Pencil. I know how to get fingering and written comments into the score, but I’m puzzled about how you are able to get your comments in a typed format. I’d appreciate having you explain how to do that..
Thanks for this interesting information, and about the price of the iPad, it’s 21th country. The intellectual guy is richer than the .... so live with it
I play piano for the church too. I can identify with you. Hymns and songs get reused by different chairmen for the services, so it would be good to get forscore to store them. Am also learning the violin and just about to start on the 8-page Vivaldi Summer. Looks like I will have to spend the money to get the app and pedal. Already have the 12.9 inch iPad.
I just learn about that’s awesome Technology! and I was searching and I came across your video and I started watching your videos and the are awesome, I can’t figure out how to organize my music so I can use it in church, can you help me with that?
Yes, this is really awesome technology! You use "setlist" to organize your music. I have an "upcoming service" setlist where I add all the music I'm planning to play for that particular week so that all you have to do is keep turning the pages and next music magically appears.
For anyone needing a big screen android tablet thats budget friendly i definitely recommend the Lenovo tab p12. It's 12.7 inch screen. Comes with a sensitive pen, might even have a keyboard case also, and performance for multitasking is actually amazing. All day battery life. (Its not for heavy gaming tho). And coupled with mobile sheets pro and a page turner you're all set.
If these were available at the time I started using this setup, I would have gotten these instead. Now the question is can I import all of my music with my annotation from forScore to Mobilesheets pro... I would still try it out and possibly switch if #lenovo or #mobilesheets sends me free one to review in a video :)
This is my first time enjoying your UA-cam channel. Great content! Looking forward to hearing more from you! Your video was so informative. Thank you so much!
I don't know if this is the best because I haven't tried other ones, but I use Airturn myself and I never had any issues with them: amzn.to/3nqudsy In fact, I've been using my first Airturn pedals for 8 years and it's till going strong!
I'm glad you found my video useful. I don't personally won a Chromebook, but seems like MusicReader app I mentioned in my video is available on Chromebook as well. I used to use this software on my Windows laptop before I switched to iPad, and it worked well. Some Chromebook can use Android apps through Google Play Store. In that case, your choice opens up to pretty much any Android apps. Just search for "sheet music viewer" and see if you find any app you like. Good luck, and please let me know if this works on Chromebook as well. I'm curious.
You're welcome. I hope you'll enjoy smart music making! If you can, please use the link in the description. It won't cost you anything, but it'll help me a bit :)
I will be buying the airpedal and would like a larger tablet. Mine is currently 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 and a full page readable sheet is uncomfortable to use. What is the final size of a full sheet on a 12 in ipad? I want close to 8 1/2 x 11
this is awesome!!!! Thanks very much Akira for bringing this up...I am having a problem with this for the longest time....I can remember, I stumbled across your channel after watching the Hannon youtube of yours , but this is really the best, for me LOL. One more thing, can you please come up with a youtube how you learned to "sight-read" piano sheets? I've been playing for 10 years now and I felt like I am not going anywhere, unless I learned to sight read. I've been going over the Hannon through and through, but I don't know if going over it is the best way to learn to sight read sheet music, any help will do, thanks (from your fan here in the USofA).....
Sight-reading is a combination of working theory knowledge, forward eye-movement, and lots of faking (at least for me). Besides me not being a good sight-reader either, it's very complicated and I'm not sure if I can explain it. But I'll try to incorporate it in bits and pieces in the future videos.
I was concerned about using iPad but I am getting to feel comfortable. Thank you so much for your explanation! I didn’t know the pedals to change the pages👍
I;ve been recording my playing using the item in the 'annotation' section. But I record icon cover part of the last line of the music. How do I move it out of the way??
I believe there is a setting to do that with horizontal orientation. But your notes will be pretty small. That was my concern when I first adopted this technology, but once you get used to it, 1 page at a time is just fine because you don't need hands to turn pages. It's a small sacrifice to overcome so many problems with traditional page turning.
What version your Apple tablet and where can I purchase those pedals, and what software or app? Do you pay for those sheet music? And what brand are the pedals? Thank you
I have been using Forscore with airturn! I have used both Airturn BT 106 and Airturn Duo 200! But, sometimes when I turn just buy one click it turns at least more than one page! And I think, sometimes several! Same thing even turning backwards with the left pedalI It is like a glitch! Have you or do you know anybody who has had the same issues with it! It doesn't do it like all the time but, sometimes
I haven't heard that problem before. There was one time my student's Airturn stopped working though. But both my and my wife's Airturn pedals are still going strong with no issues. Sorry you are having issues with the pedal.
The pedals basically works as a wireless keyboard, so they work with any apps that'll turn pages with left/right or up/down arrow keys. But sheet music works especially well with forScore.
Hi Akira. I am Classical Guitarist and a have a good HP Laptop. My question is can I use this pedal for my HP.? Thank U and excellent and help full videos!👌
Sorry a few things unclear to me. 1. Those sheets are pdf? Where u get them? 2. How do U view them, pdf viewer or some special app? 3. How do u link the music so that it progresses as u play? Does it stop if u wait for next note?
Love your video! We are trying to find the best size of ipad for reading music, as a lot of our musician friends have turned to ipad for scores. We love the ipad air and think it'll be more than capable of what we need to do, but as you said, Apple is evil! They make the 12.9" only for the most expensive ipad pro, and we poor musicians have to just pay for it! Lol...... Have you tried reading music on the new ipad air by any chance? If you have, what do you think? Thank you!
I haven't tried iPad air, but my wife uses 11.3-inch iPad pro. She is a violinist, so her music is not as dense as some of my music. With her more than perfect vision, she says she has no problem with it. Can't say the same for my bad eyes that have to sight-read piano music though. I can see the notes, but it's definitely not comfortable. However, I have a few friends who uses smaller iPads for their piano music, and they seem to be fine. If you already have an iPad air, why don't you try opening some of your music in PDF viewer and see how it looks?
@@AkiraIkegamiChannel Thank you for the information! We don't have the ipad air yet! XD We're a piano duo, so not sure if we can both read the same ipad air at the same time, too! Maybe we will try it! Thanks again for your help! Please check out our channel if you will have some time! :)
@@TheMeeksDuo Cool videos! I don't see why you can't put two iPads next to each other and use it for duo performances and rehearsals. That way, more money to Apple :) There is a possibility that one person can turn both iPad's pages at the same time, but I've never looked into this, so don't take my word for it. If you don't have any iPad or tablet yet, you can print out some music to the size of the screen and see if that'll work for you. Nowadays, there are lots of Android apps that can do this, too. Once you get an iPad, you are basically stuck, so choose wisely!
@@AkiraIkegamiChannel Thanks! And LOL... because getting one is already costing a lot of blood.......getting two ipads will cost us both arms and legs...XD (But will consider if it's necessary! :P) I didn't know you can print out the size first! The apple store said there's a two week trial period, so they encourage me to get them and return them if they don't work out...! Maybe I should trust their word...even though they're the ones sucking my blood....... :P
@@TheMeeksDuo They are probably not lying about trial period. But they are trying to lock in your money :) If you are buying an iPad of some sort anyway, it may be OK. But I don't trust myself in spending enough time to evaluate properly and returning to the store within 2 weeks if necessary, with my already hectic schedule. This is ancient, but if your printer, computer, or even photocopier can print out a page of sheet music at a different scale, you can put that on your music stand and simulate how big your sheet music will be displayed on your future tablet. With 12.9 inch iPad screen, notes are as big as regular sheet music. Sometimes bigger because you can crop it and get rid of margin. Once you have 12.9, you can't go back, although my wife's 11.3 inch iPad is surely more portable!
You seem to be playing from sheet music that has a vertical blue line, showing where the currents notes are. Does sheet music like this exist in the real world?
A very interesting insight to this app. l have always wondered watching musicians. I do enjoy my midi keyboard with Apple’s free App ‘ Garageband ‘ with an external amp. Also the sound quality of the 12.9” I-Pad Pro is very good bass-wise.
I have a live performance video from years ago, but it was from long before I started UA-cam and the recording quality isn't great. It'll be nice to re-record it to my channel some day!
It is almost miraculous technology but I bought a Yamaha p-125 as the digital piano so I am not savoring the idea of spending twice as much on something that can display the sheet music. Yet, anyway, I am sure that over time the need will build up and I'll have to give in
I personally use Piano Adventure series, except level 1. For the very first level, I use Alfred Basic Library series. I'm planning to make a video about method books I use in the future, so stay tuned!
I used to use that setup. It worked well, too. But screen aspect ratio, quick start-up, simplicity make iPad more ideal for this purpose. But again, laptop totally worked for me, too.
Ha ha...I dont play games either...lol...however I do want to edit video and produce music...I think you bought a good device 😁...Sometimes it is worth it to spend a little bit more money...Also, I am fairly sure you can purchase a generic pencil (au $20) online that will work for your needs...Enjoyable video!!! Thanks...✌💜😁
I think so. Technically, they are just Bluetooth keyboard with just 2 arrow keys. You can also configure what keys are assigned to each pedal. I've never tried with photo albums, but why not? Also, newer versions of these pedals come with a clicker in the middle with arrow buttons.
@@AkiraIkegamiChannel ahh OK thank you, the Steinway Spirio already has that system included 👍it's really annoying having to turn the pages 😑 but anyway thank you so very much for letting me know I can do that, I'm pretty good with wires, connections, plugs and the like, although I'm a girl, I like to put everything appart and then put everything back together. Ty for the explanation anyway 👍👍👍👍
I thought about it. But the amount you can save didn't really justify the risk I could be taking especially when I rely on it so much for performance and other uses. Maybe I'm just being too cautious, but you really don't know what was done to your device previously and how thoroughly it was tested. But I do consider refurbished products when it comes to non-mission critical stuff :)
YOU; don’t have to buy these accessories. Get your family and friends to BUY these things for your birthday, Christmas and suggested gifts from your student’s parents just because you are such a clever guy 😎
I don't see any reason to use an iPad for this. As you mentioned yourself, you don't need the processing power that comes with the iPad Pro, you just need the larger screen. What specifically is so bad about Android and Windows tablets that justifies buying expensive Apple products?
When I started using digital sheet music, there weren't any app that was as good as forScore. Because I've accumulated so much sheet music with my own annotation, now I can't easily switch to Android. Nowadays, the situation may be different. There may be as good app on Android market. As soon as forScore releases a version for Android and easy migration becomes possible, and my current iPad breaks, I'll consider migrating. I used to use Windows laptop before iPad. Some notification and things Windows does in the background were annoying, but it was doable. I do have to admit the aspect ratio of iPad pro''s screen is really nice for this purpose.
@@AkiraIkegamiChannel Alright that makes sense. I've been searching around and it looks like MusicSheets, which is available on iOS, Android, and WIndows, while not quite as good as forScore, is still more than capable of doing what most people need it to do. And with many devices you can get accessories similar to the apple pencil and magic keyboard. Personally I would choose a Samsung or Android over an iPad or Surface Pro because it is both intuitive like an iPad (responsive screen/ui and serviceable camera, unlike Microsoft Surface) and has good file management like a Windows device. I'm currently looking at getting the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, which has the large screen I'm after, with pretty good but not over-the-top performance, all at a relatively modest price.
I wish I could, too. But unfortunately, it has already become such an integral part of my musical work... By the way, you may enjoy this update on my iPad situation: ua-cam.com/video/42k84raB8eo/v-deo.html

There is a possibility that one person can turn both iPad's pages at the same time, but I've never looked into this, so don't take my word for it.
#1 How did you erase? #2 what do you think about off-brand Apple pencils?
You tap eraser icon and your pencil becomes an eraser.
I've never used third party stylus, but I'm not sure other pencils can do palm rejection.
You seem to be playing from sheet music that has a vertical blue line, showing where the currents notes are. Does sheet music like this exist in the real world?
That is something i added during editing. I don't think technology can listen and follow you like this yet.
How much storage do you use?
58 out of 128GB, including all of my music. If I deleted unnecessary video footages, that should open up many GB.
A very interesting insight to this app. l have always wondered watching musicians.
I do enjoy my midi keyboard with Apple’s free App ‘ Garageband ‘ with an external amp. Also the sound quality of the 12.9” I-Pad Pro is very good bass-wise.

Thanks for explaining, love the jokes
Will we hear a La Campanella performance from you soon? :O
I have a live performance video from years ago, but it was from long before I started UA-cam and the recording quality isn't great.
It'll be nice to re-record it to my channel some day!
Love it! Great stuff
It is almost miraculous technology but I bought a Yamaha p-125 as the digital piano so I am not savoring the idea of spending twice as much on something that can display the sheet music. Yet, anyway, I am sure that over time the need will build up and I'll have to give in
@kindle #kindleareyoulistening!!!
It's Wonderfull.

What is the App that hosts the music?
All the music is saved in forScore.
@@AkiraIkegamiChannel Thanks
Hi what is the name of the app thanks
forScore
what are some of the basic books for piano that you recommend?
I personally use Piano Adventure series, except level 1. For the very first level, I use Alfred Basic Library series.
I'm planning to make a video about method books I use in the future, so stay tuned!
Thanks. I just checked out ForScore. About $20. Does that include the scores themselves? Or do I buy each piece I want to learn? Thanks
No, you have to prepare your own score.
Here is a video explaining how to import sheet music into forScore:

What/where do I get pedfles
You can get it here:

It's amazing.
Can’t believe you’re so funny
I think that laptop that turns backward would be much better that an Ipad. I have an Air2, scores are a bit small.
Hi! Do you know if the page turner works on photo albums? Or it just works on music app? Thanks.
I think so. Technically, they are just Bluetooth keyboard with just 2 arrow keys. You can also configure what keys are assigned to each pedal. I've never tried with photo albums, but why not? Also, newer versions of these pedals come with a clicker in the middle with arrow buttons.
👍👍👍
Great videos (which I dont)too funny
Please insert music in the ipod
You mean this?
ua-cam.com/video/p-mIMj0E3Xc/v-deo.html
That is in fact great, but I thought it worked with bluetooth 🤔
It does. The pedals are Bluetooth petals
Ty for the explanation anyway 👍👍👍👍
buy the third generation on Gazelle
Get a used iPad Pro from Swappa
🍏 is one off giant sharks in the ocean , this giant sharks has a big big big stomach haha 😂 vive capitalism
$$$$$...I think I can do without that.
I wish I could, too. But unfortunately, it has already become such an integral part of my musical work...
