Well if it makes it agreeable, only two appearances Russians were involved, some mentions of them through empty supplies, and the guidance control are their handy work. The only active combat was the hijacking of the missiles. Ultimately, there were Russians killed involving Shadow Company doing the deed.

I’m glad Shadow Company has a more important role in this game unlike the original, in which they only appear in the last few missions. You even play as a SC operative this time which I think is interesting.
I like that they have a bigger role, but after playing the reboot they just felt cooler in the original. Didn’t need much time to be certified as badasses
What I like about them is that they are given some characterization here. With one even questioning what they were doing to 141
It's too much of a coincidence, that out of all Russians to ambush the Convoy, it were specifically Makarov's Ultranationalists. Would be cool if it turned out that Shepard actually sold the Shadows out. It would be like a reverse No Russian. Shepard stages a terrorist attack on the US (By giving the missiles to Makarov, who would give the missiles to Hassan), which would give the U.S. a reason to go to war.
I actually wouldn't be surprised considering he was denying them any support and "didn't know" about the missiles till 141 happened to find them

@@ASummersetproduction This was black op, the US Army needed plausible deniability. They were behind enemy lines in route to send american missiles off the book. Shadow Company were responsible for the delivery for plausible deniability for that black op, so army couldn't send support to the PMC.

I always thought the 141 would betray Shadow Company under Shepherd’s command but Makarov could work especially since instead of stopping the nukes he risked the entire operation by getting rid of the 141 and also why he didn’t help them

It was almost as if Shepherd didn't want the missiles protected to give the convoy reinforcement.
Graves asks for support but Shepard denies it since it can tie Shepard to the mess (being the fact that the missles are stolen)since shadow company is a private company and Shepard serves the US causing a world war.

Helo support is weak,especially since Konni are Makarov's PMC,with RPGs. So the option that is left is the good old A-10 Gun strafe,which would surely put the mission into grave danger,with friendly casualties as an extra.

@sergeikonashtev8691 Wagner Nazis (not the ones from jail, like in Ukraine) vs the US Veterans.
First of all, if it is transportation of a sensitive military hardware with a convoy, US military would not be so dumb letting some PMC with almost no armour protecting the shit out of it, there will be MQ-9 Reaper patrolling the area, close-air support, artillery support to protect the hardware. At this point I just don't like how the story is made here, but the gameplay is good. I think infinity ward should at least try make the story much more realistic and make sense, although it is just a game.
I might be wrong but I think it was explained they were lacking any proper security because the whole thing was very illegal and they wanted it to not be suspicious, just make it seem like some ordinary transport.
@@bigmac5070 It definitely was mentioned as an "off-the-books" transaction in an area assumed to have no hostile presence, so yeah, the idea was that there would be no Reaper, no air support, no artillery support usable for the operation, even if any of it was within the vicinity. Involving any of those military assets would expose the operation and threaten Shepherd's position in the long run.
The unrealistic element I felt here was that no military authority in the right mind would leave a squad, even one doing an unsanctioned activity, to get slaughtered to the last man while refusing to provide support to the very end AND be stupid enough to blast sensitive info through comms long enough for an attacker to figure out who it is. It would be more reasonable to support the squad and then make up a new reason for what they were doing there. And for the comms...yeah, pretty self-explanatory.
Even if the air support was called do y’all really think they would’ve made it in time ?? Being a current soldier in the army , calling for air support it’s gonna take at least 30 mins for it to arrive ? Shadowy company got smacked pretty fucking fast

Tbh IRL Wagner would win, really easy. They've been lent attack/gunship helicopters and jets. The only aircraft Blackwater operated IIRC were MD-500 unarmed civilian helicopters. Blackwater was also more security while Wagner has been in several actual battles in Syria

@@aguywhodoesntexist Well, as I said, Blackwater was mostly security oriented while Wagner fought dozens of real life battls against well defended positions and against real militaries. Simply from their training and experiene, Wagner would win. Though it definitely matters on which soldiers are in there. Maybe Blackwater's squad happens to have an Ex-Green Beret while Wagner's squad happens to have just regular ex-cons and infantry. Or maybe Wagner's squad ends up having an Ex-Spetsnaz with several battles fought in Syria, while the Blackwater team only has some Ex-Police officers and ex-recruits. With PMCs, experience differs from person to person.
Of course with the USA not having fought much of worth recently, the Blackwater team has a very low chance of having experienced soldiers compared to Wagner which would likely be filled with veterans.

It was a fundamental tactical mistake US doctrine relies on advanced recon UAVs up at all times air support and gunship support US SF or other teams are not trained for or designed for operations lacking this whearas when they aren't being used as cannon fodder Spetsnaz and Wagner have to be more creative and became better at these types of ops where they don't have UAVs and air support

Well unlike the original trilogy, this Shepard's original intentions were good, at least that's what laswell said, he wanted to do good for the country, it's just makarov was hidden under their radar and had no idea others would be able to pull off stunts like that.

@@ivanmcrae9705 it was still dumb for him to remove the 141 it not only allowed them to get him court martialed but splitting up Shadow Company and the 141 made getting the nukes a lot harder almost as if he planned it
It's a matter of defining good and bad and in regards to what actions.
Shepherd's original crime committed (unsanctioned transportation of missiles) was a good thing in the sense that he was sending help where it was needed but bad that it ran afoul of regulations.
Shepherd trying to bury the trainwreck that came of the Russian ambush was a good thing in the sense that he was trying to clean up a mess but bad that the body count was getting out of control.
And him turning on the 141...you get the idea.
Basically, it's more of tying up loose ends that no one will know why American made missiles were in possession and who authorized the deployment. The original, wanted a war. This one, wants the trail not known, so that it doesn't get back at him one way or the other.
