I’ve caught well over 200 pounds of walleye this month from the Ohio river in Pennsylvania, only kept about 4 fish, all the rest were released . The biggest was my new pb , 28” 8 lbs 🎣
Congats on your new pb , 8 pounder , that's nice !
@@wh8085 thank you , it’s the one in my profile pic and the one in the thumbnail of my latest video . Caught a 26” 6 lb last night , I thought I finally got the 30” & 10lb + that I’m after because of the way it hit hard and was fighting really good . Was disappointed on the size but hell of a fight in it !
@@412Angler That's awesome ! Tight Lines Bud !
Nice job bud. Were crushing em in the upper niagara in Buffalo NY. My buddy got an 11.7 last week. His pb .
I live in Ohio. What were you using ?
Made my day seeing you catch a first. You still have a love for fishing that is unmatched.
Congratulations on y’alls first walleye Richard!👍🏻
Man the excitement of catching something you’ve never caught before is one of the greatest feelings! Awesome to see! Congratulations!
I went Crappie fishing here in E. Texas yesterday and got to experience some of that rough water. But while Crappie fishing I caught a largemouth that went about 5 lbs. But while I was fighting him I was hearing Richard Gene saying “I don’t know what I got, but one things for sure, it ain’t no Crappie”. 👍😀
Richard Gene, I would love to go fishing with you. You need to have a giveaway for a trip to come and fish with Richard Gene the fishing machine. That would be awesome. Please do this giveaway.
Yes! Please.

I caught my first an only walleye this past spring after watch your video on the rooster tail lure allowing it to sink with a slow retrieve 10 mins in an I had a fish on while half a dozen other fisherman looked on
And God bless you too Richard Gene
Willing to wager that walleye will be one of the tastiest fish you’ve ever had! Caught a mess yesterday with my kids at Lake Erie, getting ready to fry them up this evening.
Thank you. Love what you do. My 8 year old loves it when you go woooo and what you say at the end. He goes around the house saying go fizhing when you can cause its good for ya in character.
Same with my 8 year old son! Hilarious
Looking forward to seeing you and The Old Fisherman fishing together.
Lol, When i saw your life jacket put together all goofy, i about choked on my popcorn, woooh!
In addition to the fact that they are technically native to the TN River, they've been stocking quite a few walleye in Chickamauga and Watts Bar over the past several years and I bet they've just made their way over time down below Guntersville. Hopefully you'll keep catchin em!
In east central Missouri iv'e only caught a handful of saugers, but this fall somehow I pulled a 28 inch walleye out of a small little river. It was the most surprised I have ever been!
Thankful for you to share your outing, Richard. Another way to tell sauger from walters(walleye) is to notice the dark spots on the dorsal fin.
Congratulations on your first walleyes. "Fishing is the sport second to none! "
Richard really enjoy your walleye and sauger fishing trips. Your teaching means a lot to us. Different techniques helps me so much and I do appreciate you sharing how you fish for so many species. Great video Richard! Tell Moma Sue Hi
Awesome! Richard, I love your videos, and hope to get the opportunity to meet you one day. You are what fishing is all about! God bless you brother!!
This men’s energy is so pure men . Shout out to you Richard Gene
Congrats on your first walleye. I caught a 30 inch walleye in October biggest ive caught in years we have em but not many in my area same day caught my first sauger .I released both .Love the videos Richard you are definitely one of the best on UA-cam.
I’m just as excited as you Richard! That’s awesome, I didn’t even know we had walleye around here. I would have baptized them walleye in some hot grease though. They say they are better than crappie and that’s hard to imagine... LOL
I’m talking a bout whoooo! Love the video Richard and I understand the excitement! I was excited for you! I live in central Iowa and I catch walleyes time to time but earlier this year I caught my first sauger while walleye fishing lol!
Just love your spirit and joy of life.
Richard Gene is a man comfortable with who he is .

How nice of u letting those fish go u a true sports angler love watching your videos u the best
I was raised catching Leopard shark, 7 gill shark, and stingrays....Now I mainly fish for largemouth bass.
That first fish jumping out of the boat had me laughing my butt off, awesome video as always thanks for keeping on making these great videos
I’m glad You let that walleye go!
congratulations on your first walleye. that means your waterways are more healthy if you catch different species. that is great news. thank you for what you do.
I enjoy the fishing .. but I really appreciate the genuine excitement of your videos...like God intended
Glad to see walleye there below the dam. I'll be heading there soon. Never caught walleye there but have caught them below Cheatham Dam on the Cumberland while fishing for sauger. Thanks for the video Richard!
Congrats on catching your first Walleye! great job. take care
Thank You Richard for the great info, I will give it a try!!! God Bless You Always!!!
Richard I keep an axle hub assembly with bearings packed with grease when you buy it , inside my truck with all the tools to change it , at all times. Oh and congratulations on them walleye,,,if you’ll move out in the river channel and fish the 30 s 40 s 50 s and 60 s with your method of sauger fishing , you will get in to bigger walleye and sauger , might have to move your jig weight up a notch like 5/8 , but that same plastic minnow will work.
Thanks for the saugers trip on this week's episode of "The Machine" Caught a 15" walleye below the Wilson Dam January 22 2020. I hope the saugers come back. It's looking good.
WOO! Had some Walleye when I was living in the Northeast. Was very good eating, excellent! Have been enjoying your videos ever since you started. Always interesting and educational fishing vids. Thanks....WOOOOO!

Absolutely love watching your videos sir.
Nothing beats walleye, especially when the fillets are fried, friday fish fry style!! Cool
I thought I was the only one that like to ride my bass tracker hard through that chopping water!🤣 Get in there, get in there!😎🚤
I would be just as excited!
I've seen your sauger videos and have wondered if there were Wallys down there....now I know! Have you tried a jig with just a live minnow? About 3/8 oz (I like the orange and yellow combo), stick the hook in the mouth, out the grill and skin hook it by the dorsal fin. let er go to the bottom and lift it about 6" - 12" up, let it hover there a second or two and hit the bottom again, rinse and repeat until...WOOO! Take care, Richard!
Congratulations on the walleye always great to catch something new. Keep the videos coming
Them fish know what richard is after. He targeted bass in that very spot a while back. Richard gene the fish whisperer

Walleye, best eating fish, second to none. Another fine video.
Several years ago me and my dad was sauger fishing below Watts Bar dam and I caught a 17 inch walleye at the time the length limit was 16 inches I took him on a ride home with me. I have been fishing for about 45 years and that's the only one I ever caught but they are the steak of the fish delicious!!!!
Wow, now you're fishing my world; Walleye and Sauger. Here in the upper Mississippi area of P4 (Red Wing, MN) we fishing them hot, it's one of our main game fish. And you're correct, they are great table fare. My personal rule is any Sauger over 18" or Walleye over 20" goes back. My PB Walleye is 31" and Sauger is 22" but they're rare as hen's teeth but 20" of either is common. FYI- our current water temp is 38 and air temp is 33; the air will get lots cooler but not the water. Great video, straight lines and stay safe.
And yet ... another great video !!
Thanks.
We been catching walleye almost every weekend down there for the last month . Most of all of them have been over 17 inches . Looking forward to your next video fishing below the dam
Great video love it...Glad you caught some walleye!
As always!! Great video RGTFM!!
I work at Walmart I can't say if I agree about tries or not but I enjoy your channel I am glad to see you caught and walleye. It to me years to caught my first walleye. Congratulations on caughting your first 2 walleyes.
You should try just before till a couple hours after dark. Your size and numbers will get better on sauger and walleye. I catch them all winter on the Cumberland River. Keep on catching 👍
I like how you wear your PFD
LOL.
He did that on purpose to see if you were paying attention!
I believe Elmo helped him put that pfd on.
@Billy Waltman huh? 🤔 What are you talking about? 🇼🇸
Your crappie plastic you usually use, the ice colored one.. use that but either white or black and green and you'll catch alot of sauger/walleye. My favorite bait for walleye and crappie in Minnesota
Thanks Richard, had sauger on my mind for over a week.
Good pulls RG! I'm talkin bout Wooooooo!
WALLEYE are my favorite. I grew up fishing for them in Wisconsin with my Grandfather
Kind of looks like a sauger to me but I'd had to been there. God bless you Richard, love you brother. Amen
Almost to 200k!!!! You're the man Richard!!
I know you've caught more walleye since this video, but if you ever want to catch some walleye in Indiana I'd be glad to take you on my boat. The nighttime bite is a real adventure when they are spawning around April 1st. You can watch them swimming right on the shore line. We usually catch a bunch. Let me know if you want to try it.
WOOOO! I've caught a lot of walleye while crappie fishing on the Sipsey Fork but they've all been really small. Great catches!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! didnt know we had walleye down here.
love your videos and enthusiasm for the sport god bless keep'em coming
Nice catching on the sauger and walleye! Love your channel and your enthusiasm as well. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and may God bless you and your family!
Your right about them walleye, they go good with beans taters and cornbread.
Always great to knock out a new species!!
Awesome video! Go back and catch more.
@Richard. Can you do a vid on the different lines pro/cons, equipment needed to use them, and what type of fishing each is best used for? Thank you, love the videos. God bless.
Nothing better than spending the afternoon watching Mr.Richard
Walleye and crappie fishing be amazing here in Michigan this fall
