I really have to thank my history teacher for showing us this because even though she isn’t required to or even allowed to teach us about this she does, even with the risk of being fired.

As a biblical prophecy reads; the first will be last and the last will be first… meaning the tides will not intermingle, but the tides will miraculously change places, increasing the strength last tide making it stronger above the first. They don’t want to feel fear for their lives when they get stopped by the police when they’re driving. They want to be treated with respect and care while under police custody. They want to have the ability to be treated just as equally as white people. To be looked at as equally and to be treated as equally. Black people want to be treated like *human beings.*
As a whitewashed American, I have learned HISTORY from Netflix and Social Media---more than what I have learned from any school, college and university in America. Thank you Netflix.

I’m in high school and I’m so glad that my history teacher showed us this. I find it sad to think that not every school, or even every student in my school, will be exposed to this part of America’s history. Schools need to stop allowing for ignorance to shape generations. Progress takes time yes, but “justice cannot wait”.
