You were cracking me up, Carole! “I never wear dresses”. “Keep, keep, keep, keep”! 🤣 I enjoyed going through your patterns with you! Loved seeing the ones from your childhood! 😘💗
I know! I keep saying I don't wear them and yet find myself with a wardrobe full of them 🤣. Glad you enjoyed seeing my Pattern supply. Thanks for watching 😘💗
PS - enjoyed looking at your pattern file. It's like window shopping for sewers. SEW fun!
It's so hard to give up patterns but it's a good idea to clear out the ones you know you won't use. I purged about a 100 patterns last year.
Patterns: dresses
Great job on your clearout! I loved how honest you were about what you would and wouldn't make.
Thanks so much, I got rid of far more than I hoped for so I can't wait to do the other files! Thanks for watching and I've put you down on the dresses list. Have a good weekend 😊🧵
Patterns: jumpsuits. You are so organised! I love watching your videos, thank you.
Thanks so much Carol, I will put you down on the jumpsuit list. Have a good week 🧵😊
I store my patterns like that too. I keep the patterns and instructions in the manila envelope as well, because I trace my patterns, and I put the traced patterns in the envelope too. They would not all fit in the original envelope. I need to go through a pattern de-stash. ❤😊
I must admit I am incredibly lazy and only trace off the children's patterns, I know I will probably use all the sizes of those! Well done for being more conscientious than me. I enjoyed clearing those two binders, now I need to tackle the others! Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊
Patterns: jumpsuit. Would love to win the jumpsuit set of patterns. Thank you for the chance to win!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting, I will put you down on the list for jumpsuits. 🧵😊
Wish we could have distasteful the rest with you. I am a big 4 sewist so love seeing your pattern stash
Thanks so much for your comment (I understood the Auto correct I think😆). I will probably share my other patterns don't worry as it was easier to do on camera as I didn't waste time in deciding! Have a great week🧵😊
I would love to see the other patterns. It was fun going thru your pattern...and I would love newlook 6723 and simplicity 8544
Thanks you so much for your comment, I will go through my other patterns in another video don't worry. I will put you down on the dresses list. 🧵😊
Hi Carole, I would love the “Patterns Dresses” you’ve inspired me to go through my stash of patterns 😊
Thanks for watching, I have put you down on the dresses list! Have a good week🧵😊
Patterns: dress - 😊 I think putting patterns in a draw is a great idea for storage
Thanks so much for your comment, I will put you down on the dress list! 🧵😊
So many old friends - I'll also be doing this soon so thanks for. the inspiration! xoxoxox
I bet you have every single one of those patterns Jen and of course I copied the best storage system from your lovely self 🥰. I have a few more files to go though! Hope you are well,I miss you 💞xxxxx
Great sort out. So many of those patterns I recognise. Look forward to the next video. 😊
Thanks for watching Bridget. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and watch out for the next one! Have a good week 🧵😊
I need to adopt some system for my patterns and somehow put my pdf patterns into the mix. So some good ideas on pattern organisation Carole, thank you. I need to be removing patterns I’m never going to use too so I won’t be joining your competition but nice idea to pass them on to sewists who will enjoy them. 😄
PDF patterns are another issue aren't they. I have mine squeezed into A5 envelopes as well but that isn't so easy when they aren't the tissue paper of the big 4. I now have the other files to go through 😅. Thanks so much for watching and your kind comment, good luck with your sort out! 🧵😊
Patterns: jumpsuits. Thank you for the chance to win them. I love the way you store your patterns, being able to look through your binders at what have without all the bulk is awesome! Have a great week 😊
Thank you so much for your kind comment on my storage system, I have had a few comments that it isn't great! It works for me and I love looking through my binders. I will put you down on the jumpsuit list. 🧵😊
I really enjoyed your pattern sort out and the comments that went along with them, especially since they were Big 4 patterns suited to British weather. I don’t want to take part in your giveaway but I do really enjoy your channel. I’d enjoy another trawl through your patterns if you ever do this. Thanks for the interesting videos.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments and taking the time to do that even though you don't wish to be entered into the draw. I will certainly do the other files in another video as I didn't realise how much people would like looking through what I had! Have a great week 🧵😊
I enjoyed watching your process! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks so much! I hope you are well, I haven't seen much of you online recently 💞x
Very impressive, Miss Carole! I was so impressed that I watched the video three times. Love how you make a quick decision and keep moving. No going to and fro second guessing each decision. I have 7 patterns total. They have all been altered, hacked and rehacked to suit my style and needs. Btw, I added "Sit down with a cup of coffee and a brownie" to my housework wheel of fate. It's my favorite household chore. Thank you for the fabulous idea! As always, love your channel.
Well hello there Miss Lorraine!! Can't believe you watched this three times, isn't once enough of me gabbling on..shall I keep shan't I keep?! 7 patterns? Wow but as you say if they are all now adapted to be perfect, why add more?Adding that section on your wheel is awesome, love the brownie bit 😂. Just keep spinning! 🍫Have a super week 🧵😊
Great idea....l have plastic tubs for my patterns. A lot of young childrens which I should really sort. Moved my creativity more towards quilting and crafts, would like to return to garment construction. Don't know how to deal with stretch knits, more about layout.
Hi Maddy, thanks so much for watching. One of my files is children's as well but that will be hard for me to go through as I have made so many for my Grandsons 😔. Don't ever worry about working with stretch knits, I honestly feel it is easier as less fitting needed! There are so many videos out there saying how to work with them but honestly, it is a myth that they are harder work. Choose a nice quality knit to start with, you will be surprised! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Patterns jumpsuits. I would love some of those.
Thanks for watching, I will put you on the jumpsuit list! 🧵😊
Patterns: Dresses. I would be thrilled to get these patterns. Thanks for the opportunity!
Thanks so much for watching, I will put you down on the dress list! 🧵😊
Great video, you’re very organised. I would love patterns jumpsuits. 😊
Thanks so much, my organisation is completely down to watching Jen's video years ago. I will put you down for the jumpsuits 🧵😊
That was not only interesting but also fun…!! Nice to see how other sewers store their patterns….
My trouble is, I love rummaging through the patterns at the thrift shops….😆😆🇦🇺
You are so lucky ! I never seem to find any sewing patterns in our charity shops, just knitting patterns 😂. They must go so quickly so I can't wait to donate these. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Jumpsuit patterns please! Good for you for cleaning out! Ì find it hard to get rid of patterns but sometimes it just needs to be done. Happy Sewing! Cheryl 🇨🇦
Hi Cheryl! I will put you down for jumpsuits. I think because I filmed it I found it easier not to spend hours thinking about it! Have a great week 🧵😊
Dresses, but I am in the United States ❤. Love your videos!
Hi there, don't worry about being in the US. I am quite happy to ship the patterns anywhere 😊. I will put you down on the dress list. 🧵😊
Loved going through your pattern clear out. It’s always interesting to see if we have the same patterns (we do for some). My collection is much smaller but I only really started sewing again in lockdown. 😊
Thanks Ann, I am glad you enjoyed it and yes, I always love seeing what patterns people have as well. All those free patterns in the magazine soon built up my collection and watching others on UA-cam didn't help either 😆. 🧵😊
I really enjoyed watching your pattern sort. I was so excited that I had many of the same ones! Thanks for sharing this with us. I need to do the same thing. ❤ Diann
Hi Diann, Happy Valentine's Day! We do share a lot of patterns I've noticed that 🥰. I need to do the other files now as I really enjoyed filming it, it made me decide quicker 🤣. Have a wonderful day 🍓❤️🍓
I would love the "Patterns Dresses" as I've recently returned to sewing clothing in between quilting (thanks to you, Jen, Grace, and a couple of others I keep up with on You Tube.) I wish I had the patterns I used when I was in school in the 1960's! That is so cool that you kept some of yours. It was fun to go through your patterns with you.
How wonderful you have returned to garment sewing but I admire anyone who does quilting, the accuracy needed for that is something I don't have! I will put you down on the dresses list. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
I have to be in the right mood to destash and when it hits I can make quick decisions. Always feels good.
I think that is the same for all of us Christine, sometimes we just want to sew! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
👍🏻🧵How fun to share your patterns. I would be interested in any of your pattern draws.
Thanks so much for watching, I have put your name down in the draw! 🧵😊
I would be excited to receive “Pattern dresses”😊
Thanks so much for watching, I will put you on the dresses list! 🧵😊
Good job with your pattern destash. I need to do the same.
It was great to see the gaps I have made in my drawers, now I need to do the other files! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Hello Carol. I did a clean out last week also. I should send you a copy of them so you can take a look. I would live the jumpsuit set. Thanks.
Oh well done! Isn't it a great feeling to make some space? Thanks for watching and I will put you down on the jumpsuit list 🧵😊
You are truly inspirational! I have to say that I have looked at my own stash and have wondered what to do with the patterns I bought early on, before I knew that they were not necessarily flattering for me. Your video definitely is giving me the courage to do what needs to be done! :D
Aww thank you Lara, that is so kind of you. I'm sure I won't miss any of the ones I've cleared out and lots of space for new ones! Now in need to do my other files. Thanks so much for watching and enjoy your week 🧵😊
It's hard to do but sometimes necessary! Good Luck with the rest of your pattern de-stash!!
Thanks Deb, I really did enjoy it actually and can't wait to do the others! Hope Monday was kind to you this week xxx💞
I had a great day today! I went shopping at Hobby Lobby!!! LOLOLOL...Every other week their fabric/sewing supplies go on sale for 40% off. I bought enough fabric today for a few projects I want to take on in the near future. Happy Sewing!
Hi Carole! You did a great job! If I had that much space. I'd lose my mind.😅😅😅
Thanks Zelda, I am excited to the other files now! xx
Great job, Carole.
I love your patterns.
I have a good few patterns you already made, and a few you get rid of.
Can't wait to see your top patterns :D
I love your dress pack
Thanks Agata, I couldn't believe how many I had actually made in my collection! I have put you down for the dresses 😊. Have a good week my friend xx
Fabulous job - 23!! You can now get so much shopping done in March 🤣 xx 💞
YES! Keep your fingers crossed for me they have one of their famous Pattern sales! 🤞🏼Thanks for watching what must have been torture for you, all those BIG 4'S 😂. Have a great week xx
@@socarole66 🤣 It really wasn’t all that terrible. I do enjoy watching your videos, no matter the topic!
Have you thought of framing your special patterns to give you happy memories each time you see them on your wall😊?
Funny you should say that Carol, the 3000 pattern is up on the wall, the one I showed is actually a photocopy of the front. I should add the other 3 to it shouldn't I, thanks for the idea 😊. Have a lovely week 🧵😊
Great job, Carole.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment 🧵😊
That is a very good way to make room. Congrats. I too have plenty of patterns. I have quite a few favorites that I make over and over again. Very generous of you to donate some of your stash. And I love your quick decisions.
Hi Theresa, thanks so much for your kind comments. There is nothing like having a few favourite patterns is there, I know I have a few. I would be happy if I knew where my patterns were going and just weren't ending up in the bin, that is why I decided to send them to someone, I did it before in the early days of my channel 🥰. The quick decisions were maybe because I was on camera 😂 Have a great week 🧵😊
You as well Carole!❤@@socarole66
I made the magic dress on your recommendation instead of buying the estelle as i already had it.just made a second 😂thank_you x
Oh my goodness that is great news! Thank you so much for letting me know you had success with it. Now I want to make more for myself! 😊🧵
Great Job Carole!!! Now, look at all that empty space you have! I hope you find some in Florida, and they better still be having sales, they've been a little secretive at Joann's recently....Normally there is always at least one brand for $1.99, but I went in and nope, just "30%off"which is not great....Good luck with the rest of your destash!!!💖-Mary
Hi Mary, I keep hearing worrying things about JoAnns and their pattern sales and low staffing levels. You are lucky to have that shop so I do hope they don't go under, you will end up like us in the UK, desperate to travel abroad for Sewing Supplies 😂. I will take some extra luggage just in case! Have a great week and thanks for watching 🧵😊
Patterns jumpsuits please 🙏 xx good luck with the destash ❤
Thanks for watching, I will put you down for jumpsuits 🧵😊
Butterick 6448 is a lovely pattern, not tight at all. Similar to McCalls 7432 but with more shape with the princess seams. I spy Viv Mom’s favourite skinny trousers in your collection.
You did indeed spy Viv's skinny trousers! I made them once but in a fabric that wasn't that stretchy so I couldn't get them past my knees 😂. You have reminded me to try them again. Glad to hear that 6448 is a nice pattern, maybe I should rethink my decision! Have a great week and thanks for watching 🧵😊
Fantastic bet you feel good a job well done 😊😊😊
I do feel happy with myself but I have many other files to go through 😆. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Well done on the destash. Dresses for me please.
Thanks for watching Babs, I will put you down for dresses 🧵😊
I enjoyed your video as usual Carole. If you can’t wait to pattern shop until you go to Florida, I’ve just heard that Butterick patterns will be half price from Friday ❤
Thanks so much for that! I will keep my eye out as I do like Butterick patterns and I don't have a massive selection of them. Have a great week and thanks for watching 🧵😊
I used my pattern for artwork around my sewing room
That is a wonderful idea! Thanks so much for that. Have a good weekend 🧵😊
Great de-stash! There are 2 patterns you are getting rid of that I already have and I plan to make in 2024. I will be making the jumpsuit N6373 and the dress N6428. I have a lot of the same patterns. That was enjoyable to watch you decide which patterns to get rid of. 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Grace, yes I bet you saw a lot of your patterns there! You are so lucky that you have places to go and people to go with, I never go out socially apart from dog walking or looking after the boys 😆. Of course I can dress up on our holidays but we don't tend to in the USA funnily enough. That is why it is pointless me storing patterns in my drawer I will never use. Thanks for watching and I look forward to seeing your versions of those patterns! Enjoy the week 🧵😊
@@socarole66 Happy Sewing Carole! 🪡❤
Great video, Carole! Nice to see your clothing style (love it!) and hear your quick review on most of the patterns. I don't have any of those you are giving away, and don't think I would make any of them for myself, so no drawing entry for me. Hope there is a $1.99 pattern sale going on at JoAnn's when you are in Orlando. Seems to happen every other week now since the beginning of the new year. Be sure to come prepared with a list of Big 4 patterns you hope to find on sale. BTW: JoAnn's is very shorthanded in staff since they are struggling to stay in business. Therefore, pattern re-stocking isn't a big priority since they don't make much profit on them. You may have to look through the numerous boxes of patterns in the store you visit to find the pattern(s) you're looking for. Last sale (last week), I found 2 of the 5 current patterns I wanted: 1 was in a pattern drawer, and 1 was in one of the 10 large boxes of patterns sitting around the store (not very close to pattern drawers). Good luck to those sign up for your future drawing!!!
Hi Dori, that really is worrying news for you all in the US re JoAnns. So many of you rely on them for fabrics and patterns and I also rely on their shops on my holidays!! I am keeping my fingers crossed for a pattern sale believe me and will be taking extra luggage in case. I feel I may have to set aside quite a lot of time for searching if they are just in boxes 😱. Thanks so much for your kindness and good wishes to anyone that wins the patterns. Have a great week with lots of sewing 🧵😊xx
Think I saw a few patterns of your that I have and you got rid of a jumpsuit that I bought last summer 🤦♀️😀 if I lived in England I’d love the patterns dresses but expensive to ost 🤔 but thought that is a great idea have sleeves in a folder and the pattern in a drawer 👍
Hi Sandra, don't worry I only got rid of the jumpsuit patterns because I don't tend to have the occasion to wear them, not because I didn't like them! I am happy to put you down for dresses and will ship anywhere, I am just so grateful to have so many online sewing friends across the world 🧵😊
I store my patterns like you, though file the pattern envelopes in brand order as well. On the backs of the brown envelopes, I add the date and view I’ve made, so can look up the date in my journal and find the details of alterations, adjustments, size and fabric etc. My local charity shop had about 100 I discarded last year, all unused. Now you can buy more!
Now that is organisation! Well done for that idea of putting notes on the back, I do sometimes note things down on the brown envelopes but not always and certainly not the level of detail you do! I always try and unload them onto charity shops but they don't always take them sadly. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
I really liked this video. You can go through all your categories with us!
Oh thank you so much, if you liked joining me then I will certainly go through my others shortly. Have a good week 🧵😊
Carole, I use to store my patterns like that, but I found that it was actually taking up more space so I put everything back into their original envelopes and I made a list of all the patterns on my phone so when I’m shopping for patterns I can refer to that so I don’t duplicate. Also, on the subject of duplicates, I noticed you have quite a few so if you were to get rid of your duplicates you’d have more space for new ones😊.
Someone else has commented on the way I keep my patterns, I know it uses more space but I love it. Mine and Jens way doesn't suit everyone I know. Every time I go through my files I feel like I am pattern shopping in JoAnns on holiday!! We don't have anywhere near me to go pattern shopping so it is all online for me which makes it easy. The reason I have duplicates is quite often if I think my daughter will like the pattern as well I buy two as we are different sizes and I don't trace! Thanks so much for your comment and for watching. 🧵😊
@@socarole66 I can completely understand the fun of shopping through the notebooks, especially because you don’t have a Joann where you are and not having the notebooks anymore does take some of the fun out of looking at patterns. As for the duplicates, makes total sense.
Great video loved watching you go through your patterns 😊
Patterns for me Jumpsuits Newlook 6413 😊
Thanks so much for your kind comment and I will put you down on the jumpsuit list. Have a great week 🧵😊
Good job, Carole! How brave you are, getting rid of patterns. I could never do that, I keep all my patterns in big filing cabinets the same way, but I never get rid of them. I have stopped buying patterns due to space issues, but when I see a free indi pattern, I will download it for later. Hopefully, you will run into the big sales $1.99 at JoAnn’s while you are stateside. I see many patterns in your luggage for the trip home! Enjoy your week, and have a safe trip.🤗
Thanks Sue, I find if I keep looking through the same old patterns all the time especially the ones I will never make it weighs me down. I am really keeping my fingers crossed for a JoAnns pattern sale, even to look through the drawers is exciting for me! I will of course, be taking an extra case on my journey 👏🏼. Have a great week Sue and thanks for watching me de stash🧵😊
You just gave me a couple of ideas on pattern storage and some much needed motivation to go through my patterns Carole. Most of them are too small. Btw I just bought what you call "the magic dress" pattern and am working on it 😊. The jumpsuit lot looks interesting!
Thanks so much for watching and joining in with me. It was a job I was dreading but I really enjoyed having a good look through the patterns! Good luck with the magic dress and I will put you down for the jumpsuit lot. 🧵😊
Patterns Jumpsuit 6413, I have many of the other patterns you showed, you have 2 of this pattern, I would be interested in just this one if you would want to separate it out. I am inspired by the way you file them and will copy your process.
Thanks so much for watching, I will put you down for the jumpsuit selection. I will leave it to fate to decide re the other pattern! That system I saw Jen (today in jen's sewing room) do years ago and I have never regretted taking it on board! Have a great week 🧵😊
I need to go through all of mine. Lol Just need some help. Too too many.
At 68 I'll never make them all.
Oh don't worry, there is no way any of us can make all our patterns and also perhaps use up all the fabric we have! It is lovely to have a choice though isn't it. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Patterns jumpsuit. Would love to receive them.
Thanks so much for watching, I have put you down on the jumpsuit list! 🧵😊
My goodness so many patterns and some you have never made. I have a few of the same ones and I also have a few that I have not made. Now you have some more room for new patterns.
Pattern Dresses.
Hi there! Hope you are well, I will put you down for the dresses. I do have a LOT of patterns but my fabric stash is tiny 😆. I am excited to pick out some new patterns, I feel I've been looking at these for years! Thanks for watching and enjoy your week.🧵😊
You square danced wanted to learn how to do that. But my husband has one leg and he would be my only partner.
Square dancing was just so much fun but my hubby and I were the youngest by about 40 years 😂xx

xXX👍👍👍
Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊
😂😂I thought you were getting rid of some
I was!!😂 I was impressed with my 23 and by the time the other files have gone through I will have LOADs of space 😆. Thanks so much for watching and have a great week! 🧵😊
You said N6704 didn't come out very well when you made it for your mom. Why was that? I bought it when I got to go across to the USA last summer to Joanne, and am looking forward to making it up. Is there something I should watch out for?
Hi there, NL6704 was just a bit strange having dropped shoulders. For my Mum, I knew she wouldn't like the look but since making that I have seen so many designs with the same sleeve design. I did get my daughter to try it on and she wasn't a fan either but that could have been the fabric. It is certainly worth a try if you don't like set in sleeves. Good luck🧵😊
@@socarole66 ok, thanks. I know I like Raglan and set in sleeves the best, but I don't mind them having a dropped shoulder as long as it isn't a huge amount. So hopefully I will be fine with it.
I personally think this is not a good way to store patterns. It takes up double the space. Why take them out of one envelope to store them in another one? I keep mine in the original envelope and store them in order of style. Dresses, trousers, tops, misc etc. I can find them easily and I have hundreds. Just my opinion, I'm not saying you're wrong, its just not for me. Xx
Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate that my way of storage may not to be everyone's taste! I just love having the binders and browsing through, it feels like I'm in a sewing shop! When I kept them just in the pattern envelopes they all got so ragged and torn with me flicking through them. As you say, everyone to their own and the point of this video was certainly not to tell people how to store their patterns, it was a lighthearted video watching me shed some patterns. Have a good week 🧵😊
