I appreciate being able to go into a Family Dollar and not have to have the shame of pretending its a Kroger or Walmart or some shit. Family Dollar stays in its lane.
I delivered the block for all the new Dollar Generals they built around here in central Florida. They put them in the most random remote places you could think of. There is no rhyme or reason to it. But they stay busy. They must know something we don't. The lake site is probably a good idea! lol

In my town surprisingly enough our DG'S n Family Dollar stores are actually spaced out by bout a mile or two from each other and we only have like 4 DG'S n 3 Family Dollars n 2 dollar trees. What we have alot of is Fing convince stores some literally across the street from each other or within short walking distance.
Man the amount of times that I worked from 7am to about 2 or 3pm without any other staff in the building was unbelievable, I always had most of my days as a manager set like that on the schedule. The worst part is managers are supposed to be stocking unless theres 3 or more customers in line but when 70% of your shift is alone you cant leave the front of the store to handle stock which means it builds up and then you get into trouble. The employee handbook even states that there should never be less than I think 3 employees in the store to prevent robberies and such but my GM told me to just pretend like theres other employees on, if they ask where your backup is you just say oh they went on break.
As someone whose been in retail as well I can guarantee you that the GM was doing that because every dime he saved by minimizing staff in stores would go into his pocket in the form of a bonus check. Been there done that. When the store managers aren’t pulling that stunt the GM or DM. It’s honestly goes to show how greedy and crooked our society has become

And I have friends that are still in my life today that I met back then. I was 18 years old and my roommate was a bartender at the local bars, and she would get me in as her 22 year old roommate, no questions asked I'm in! So don't feel sorry for me. The fishing and the hunting did suck! Except for pig, pig hunting was great,
This is so funny and highly accurate. I recently had to start working at 1 of the new Family Dollar and Dollar Tree stores to catch up on Bills and they cut my hours completely into, but they didn't have that problem when 20 people was there, putting the store together...😂😂😂.....lol

Work for Family Dollar as asm and once the store was caught up to speed they laid me off, was getting ready for work on a Monday and I was told to bring in my keys. Never working for any of them again.
And dollar general always seems to have boxes of freight sitting in the aisles never put up...and family dollar is so packed their aisles are really narrow....
I like going into Dollar General, seeing they need more people, their bags have "Now hiring" on them in big, bold letters and then come back a year later and aint nothing changed. At this point I'm entirely convinced they don't actually hire anyone, they just have to say they are.

As a former manager for Dollar General, I can confirm that there should be two people scheduled at any given time, but corporate only allows managers to schedule a total 120 hours per week. As in, 120 hours split between all employees in that store that aren't salaried.

As a former Dollar General employee and a current Dollar Tree employee I can say with 100% certainty, Dollar General is not employee friendly. Work literally anywhere else.

And everything costs the same, if not more, than it would cost, to buy it at Target.
