Now think of the people who hauled that ladder up there, and the chain… and the people who built that bridge up there. All the people who did a lot of _extra_ work… just to make it easier and more accessible for the rest of us. There's probably a metaphor there, too. (Beautiful scenery, BTW! Thanks for sharing!)
I think this metaphor predicates one thing even deeper about its author. I see someone still wearing an infectious smile over the steep and unsure footing of the high country, then looking more lovely from the exertion than exhausted, honestly thrilled by the sheer wonder of her surroundings, and having complete control of translating that experience though professional video edits and narration. Alex, at the risk of adulation, I believe you could do anything.
Somehow I could tell it was my town just from the thumbnail on this video! Sounds like you had a great time but it's too bad you didn't get nicer weather. It does rain a lot this time of year.
Someone once told me that mountain hiking is comparable to accepting evidence which is contradictory to one's believes. It can be uncomfortable at points but ultimately rewarding.
Awesome views :) It would be nice if you can like also do some biochem stuff, such as collecting samples for study, in the great outdoors :) Oh and you may want to get a pair of hiking shoes that's comfortable, High Cut (to protect your ankles), and has great traction (for your own safety). i currently have a pair of Merrell Sawtooth which i use when we go hiking :)
Do the thing! You're doing your degree because you at least like it. Just start and you're more likely to keep going than if you procrastinated. Thats all the help I've got at this time of semester. Don't be me and study more at the start of semester not two weeks out from finals!
ChelseaJeanBentley yes I've found that's often my biggest hurdle; just getting started. I've gotten off track with my studying. With all my classes bearing down on me and my job being so stressful, at the end of the night all I want to do is sleep, and so homework gets put off. I need to refocus

Discovering the joy of nature and on top of that the joy of conquering things you never thought you would do. Great feeling
Man, I want to go there. What a beautiful trail.
Stunning scenery - wow!
I think this is my favorite UA-cam video
You've got some really beautiful nature there! Makes for a great compensation for all the long nights without sleep in the lab...
WOW! "& then we did it again..."!

Glad you enjoyed a corner of my country :-)

Great vid! :D
Climbing back down is always the worst... :-P
Glad to see you having fun out of the lab! Do you have any advice for a hopeful chemical engineer who needs a bit of motivation doing his homework?

A lot like grad school? Such hikes are over in a day.
Good story! Makes me wanna hike n' stuff. Except for the decline...sounds less fun
The decline is when you realize where your stabilizer muscles are and just how much they do for you.
I also find those when walking home drunk in heels. haha
I would do this every day for the rest of my life. Hm... maybe I need to change jobs.
I'm so jealous lol.
