A few of you have asked a bit more about the car. its 1975 Triumph 3litre V8 with manual overdrive box. Although I have only owned the car since June it has had regular use and indeed the milage is approaching 200,000 miles. Plans are afoot for a rerun in the spring with as many Stags as I can get to join in.
Hi You are on the right lines. Camera clamped to T bar Tie clip mic on the rear bumper just above the exhaust. First video with mono mic second attempt with stereo mic. the faster the car went the worse the sound got so I think the sound would have been better with mic under the bumper or even inside the over rider. The car sounds so different to how it sounds from the drivers seat. regards Phil I think I just replyed in the wrong place

The location is Samphire Hoe Dover Kent it is where all the waste from the channel tunnel works was dumped. It made England just a bit bigger :) We are planning to repeat the video with a few more Stags very soon
That is an awesome sound! Wish I could drive it! I've heard you can keep the original engine in these from their famous overheating tendency with an aftermarket radiator and frequent flush and fills. Is this true?
Cool.. The Stag was always a beautiful car, and if it had been built properly it would definitely have been a world wide legend like the MGBV8 had been. In my mind, before BMW truly arrived, Triumph was the one you had - In fact, I'm pretty sure that BMW looked at the 2500/2000 for their engine designs - they sound remarkably very similar. I take it the Stag engine is of 'cross-plane' crankshaft design?
Nice, very nice. How did you get this done with so little wind noise? Camera on T-bar and mike on back end somewhere (rear seat)?? The prominent sound of the rear shocks can be heard when going over the speed hump - makes me think the mike is in the back.
Hi Brian No I have a Camera clamp that attaches to the T Bar so the camera is above the windscreen. The wind noise would be horrendous so I attached a Tieclip mic to the rear bumper above the exhausts. To shot at top of the tunnel showed i should have cleaned the lens though :)
My stag has been off the road for a couple of months ,so i just needed a burble fix.Feeling much better now thanksPhil.
Philip,
This car sounds amazing. The original V8's in the stag make the nicest sound ever!!
We all thank you for not playing Disco music over the engine sound!
Hi
Thanks for that cheered me up too.

No the exhaust is standard. Its the positioning the microphone on the rear bumper that makes it sound so good :)
Its near Dover It was an access tunnel for the construction of the channel tunnel.

Yes Kenny. I'm using mine daily, and over the 8000 miles since I got it in July I've had no problems so far

Hi
Just tried this and yes the sound is fine. so it must be a setting your end

No worries each to their own :)

Wow.. where was that location??
@kiekeskiller I used a G clamp type of Tripod fitted to the T Bar. Pressed Record and left the camera to get on with it.
Sounds great. Where is the tunnel? It looks like something from James Bond.
is it a standerd sound or did you do something about the exhaust?
if so.. i know what to expect when we drive are own triumph...
Yep Original engine. its the position of the microphone that makes the difference
Looks like leaving Dover on the A2, am I right?
ginius about the microphone , but hou do you get the camera so stabilazed ?
*Genius. Oh the irony.
lovely sound, I always wanted a stag but got put off by THAT engine
Is this on the original V8?
is this shot through the wind shield??
