      I actually understand that because i get self conscious while practising and playing unprepared in front of an audience. If I'm prepared then its a different story

    Tom shut up! You are never going to be a bad big brother. You have given Carrie two beautiful nephews. Now, I'm an only child so I'd give anything to have a big brother like you. You are an inspiration to Carrie and many other people. You have helped me through the toughest parts of my life, and I thank you for that.

    The transpose button is just the keyboard equivalent of the Capo isn't it...

    • @contrapunctusmammalia3993
      @contrapunctusmammalia3993 7 років тому +3

      No it's the equivalent of changing your tuning as every note is changed.

    • @contrapunctusmammalia3993
      @contrapunctusmammalia3993 7 років тому

      If you play a melody on a guitar then tune every string up a semitone and played the exact same strings and frets it would sound a semitone higher. If you were to put a capo on, than only when you use an open string would anything be changed. If you played something only using open strings, no frets used, than a capo would be like transposing because a capo doesn't change the string tension or where your fingers go.

    • @lydiatang5561
      @lydiatang5561 6 років тому

      yes but if u play an acoustic guitar without a capo you end up with a fractured thumb and bleeding fingers (learn this from me)
      and a transpose button on the piano is only for someone who's too lazy to learn the actual piano chords

    its still quite unreal to me that Tom makes these types of videos so real so raw so accessible, when 12 year old me fell in love with this band with close to no social media. so after all this time and growing up, hearing the songs that hold such a big place in my heart gets a little overwhelming, in the best way possible. thanks for being the best.

    Seeing a touring profesional rehearsing and doing the occational mess up is such an inspiration! when you see them perform and they do everything perfectly and you just say "yeah, there's no way I can do that" kinda gets you down, you don't get to see them rehearsing making all the little flukes, thanks for posting this (I gotta get out of the habbit of always playing on the key of C)

    You know what I love about this? Is that you're a successful musician, yet you take the time to properly tell us what you didn't do in the early stages, and what the results of that we're. I'm sure there are many musicians who have got to a similar point in their career, and wild rather hide their laziness that tell people about it. Fair play to you Tom, respect!

    Hey, Tom! Nice of you to talk about this. Most professional musicians are so insecure about their skills that they don't even talk about their weaknesses. It's almost as if they need to be the best on what they're doing with no flaws whatsoever. Which isn't true. You really owned it. To be an idol you don't need to be flawless. Just honest and true to others. Keep doing what you're doing. Love all the content (music, videos, books) you're creating.

    B is actually a naturally easier key to play in than C.. Another reason you probably like it so much! When you place your hand on a piano it will naturally rest over the notes on B major scale rather than C. C major is a very squashed scale for your fingers to play, and B major used to be the first scale young children were taught to play. I'm sure no one cares but there's my fun fact of the day. Enjoy! X

    • @contrapunctusmammalia3993
      @contrapunctusmammalia3993 7 років тому

      How do you mean your hand will naturally rest over a B major scale/triad, one's hand probably won't fall on anything that rigid. The two semitones in the scale are both close on the keyboard and in fact the E and B of the scale are physically closer to D# and A# than F and C are to E and B with C major, this shows that the keyboard is kind of designed for C major. I think that they're are both equally squashy and from a physical aspect equally awkward. Anyway, it's only Chopin who thought that B major is the easiest scale.
