Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful girlfriend Mariana for eight years now.
Together Mariana and I, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!

Lovely! tell me about a natural water spot to swim and I'm sold! :DD This got me proper nostalgic as well - I grew up near a river, pretty much twice the size of this one and a waterfall (some form of dam really) and I learnt how to swim as a child. Really awesome because we have 40 degrees summers as well.

May I fish in the river, or is it seasonal? Is there water that can be used for irrigation? What about drinking water? May I install solar? Can the boars be hunted or is it seasonal? Do the boars pose a threat or danger to livestock. Can they be fenced out or catch and release in another area? I am interested in this property. Where is the nearest airport and transport to the property? Would it be permissible to move a caravan to the property while renovations take place? Do you have an overhead map/shot of the property?

Does Amazon deliver to places like this?
Yes! Some times farms are off the postal route, such as this one, so people get their packages delivered to the local cafes 😊
I would imagine the Wild Boar Sign means they are showing you that they are foraging, which means the Soil is good for supporting all Life! :)
Do folks hunt the Boars so they don't eat up the mushrooms?

Will the Olive trees also be pruned back and trimmed back? Tunips are good for the soil reconstitution.
What do you do about the wild boars? - hardly a plus when you want to run your own animals.
Hi, all livestock need to be fenced in and the wild boar don’t cross the fences so they aren’t a negative, if you planted a veg patch and didn’t fence it they would definitely get some of the harvest, just need to keep your veggies and animals fenced
And no, it’s grass cutting that the seller will do, not olive pruning

The wild boars are a nightmare to deal with. They will destroy everything and are so difficult to control. A deal breaker for me
That’s just so not true, wild boar are everywhere here, I mean everywhere, fence anything you don’t want them to get in, livestock / veggie patches, I haven’t had a single wild boar on my land for over 7 years due to our fencing
@@Farmerforfun you obviously don’t live in the US or Canada and have never dealt with the destruction the pigs cause, to the tune of millions of dollars per year and more millions trying to control the skyrocketing populations of feral pigs.
No, I live in portugal, I’m not saying they aren’t destructive, I’m saying they are very easy to keep out of veggie patches, Portugal won’t be for you if they are a deal breaker, because they are everywhere here.
