The yarn is used to identify the different bundles of threads and correlate to the thread list for sorting! Thankfully!
Flosstubers to watch:
The yarn in each thread bundle of the Dimensions kit identifies which bundle it is. 😃
I am a new subscriber and am binge watching your videos! I also love stitching your designs and have completed Winter Garden! Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm with us!💕🌷
Gorgeous kits!! Caterpillar Cross Stitch kits package their floss on those type of cardboard strips, like the Lucas kit. They call it a "caterpillar"! Have fun with these!!
Love Luca-S kits and they are easy to stitch. You also send me down the rabbit hole for the Merejka kits. Thanks and happy stitching!
Enjoyed your unboxing! I am older and the first cross stitch I ever did was about 46 years ago and was a Diminsions kit. Over the years especially when I took the finished pieces from their storage drawer, I hand washed them and air dried them. The water was cool to warm I have never experienced any dye running. Hope that is helpful and happy stitching. Oh by the way, most were almost full coverage.
Beautiful kits! I have never seen the Christmas Cove kit before, I love it. Those older kits that bundled the floss each had a different yarn attached to it. In the instructions it would tell you which threads were in each bundle so you could sort the colors correctly. For example you might have 3 different reds so they would have one red in each bundle so you knew which red you were sorting.
Welcome to the madness. I’m completely obsessed as well and love the mix of slow stitching along with current designs from designers like yourself. ❤
Love your enthusiasm! If you put your threads in a bag with crumpled newspaper the paper will absorb the odor of the threads, You said it isn't too bad but just in case! There are plenty of us out here who are a-ok with that stiff aida if you ever want to offer it as a "share". Gorgeous charts❣
Loved watching you open these kits, I have done several Luca S kits and have loads more I have brought, I love them, yes I have chosen different fabric and have never ran out of threads, always more than enough left over. They also have their own website, its a rabbit hole lol.
Love seeing all your kits. I have looked at kits for along time. It makes me want to look at them again. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
I purchased a Luca-S kit three years ago and am about to complete the project in a couple of months. Thankfully it came with Anchor floss so I can easily get more thread if needed - but so far so good! I only have a page and a half left. I do love the way they organise the threads, I've been able to maintain those floss cards really well. Love their charts, yours is really pretty!
I bought a tub of things from a flea market type store. Only 15. There Was tons of thread in it, all bunched up. It had that old smell. I ran some cold water and put some blue dawn in it. Dropped the thread in for several hours and voila..no more old smell.
Absolutely loved this video. Can't wait to see more. With the Merejka kit I have I use the thread holder for the left over bits and sometimes for blended threads. Look forward to seeing more kits and your starts
Love all your kits. I will say that dimensions full coverage can sometimes call for five or six strands of floss for half cross stitch. If you use linen, i wouldn't use that many strands because it can warp the linen. That is an older kit so you may not run into that.
I’ve fallen down this same rabbit hole! I love Santa’s Cottage - don’t have that one yet, uh oh. 😉. Christas Cove is on my wish list!!! So happy you found one. Hugs and blessings on your coming week. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Liz, I'm a bit of a Luca-S and Letistitch afficianado. I have been buying and stitching their kits for years. The thread in their newer kits is their own stranded cotton and it's gorgeous to stitch with. The older kits use anchor (the Letistich kits are still using anchor). I have never ran out of thread. I also switch the 16ct in the kit ot 18ct. The floss colour codes are different to DMC but there is a converter to DMC on the Luca-S website should you run out. I have Santa's Cottage and I'm going to be stitching it on Winter Meadow fabric flair aida.
Each floss card has a number at the bottom so you can easily find the floss for thy symbol yout're working on from the thread key (although, I'm a bobbinator so I don't use those cards except to store the extra floss for those colours which have a LOT o thread). Luca-S also have amazing customer service if you need to reach out. Hope that helps! Happy stitching!
I love luca S too! I am on the fence with letistitch. I have nearly finished my first one of theirs at the moment and don't think its as good as luca s, the picture seems more pixelated . Thanks for mentioning about the anchor thread, I hadn't realised they were not using anchor anymore . I am going to check my kits in my stash and see which ones still have the anchor threads
Oh my goodness…I love Christmas Cove too & am equally intimidated by sorting that floss. You may have motivated me to get busy though! 😉 Beautiful kits Liz, thanks for sharing!
Liz, having grown up on Dimensions kits this is like a fun trip down memory lane for me! I’m glad you are getting so much enjoyment from this new/old stitching style! I look forward to seeing your progress!
I just love this haul! Luca-s have amazing customer service. I have done several of there kits and I have never run out of threads. You also have a coupon in tour kit that is warranty if tou run out.
My new daughter in law gave me 4 kits last Christmas. She is from Germany and her parents are from Russia so the kits are unlike anything I have purchased before. I love them.
I watched a flosstube from Merejka - they use DMC. In order to prevent someone from stealing their designs, they show it as their color. They advised they would be more than happy to tell you, if needed, the DMC color.
Hi, just watched your video and wanted to give you a more positive picture of full-coverage kits than you might have picked up to date. I've done quite a few full coverage and only once have I run out of a thread. It was a Riolis kit, and just the one colour was a bit short. They quite happily sent me more thread, all the way from Lithuania to New Zealand, totally free of charge. And I nearly always wash my kits and I have never had any thread run. Washing really helps to relax the thread as well as brightening everything up. If you are worried about a colour running, you can do a simple test by placing a short piece of the thread on damp, white paper towel. If the colour is going to run, you'll see it happen there. Enjoy your stitching - they look like great kits, especially the Dimensions Gold one
I made a Christmas stocking from a dimensions kit and put the floss on bobbins, worked for me. I’m not a fan of these kits(backstitching) but they do turn out beautiful. Have fun!
I have the Luca S kit, and I have one page completed. I started in the lower left corner, which is completely confetti stitching. The floss is a dream to stitch with. I changed out the fabrics as well, to 32 count linen. After getting new contacts, which I can now see better, I have discovered that some of my stitches are actually coming out. Very disappointing. I do stitch with a hoop, so moving the hoop could be the source of the problem. It is a beautiful piece and I would love to finish it. But at this time it is in “time out”.
They use anchor threads in Luca-s kits. So check anchor .
You need to offer the 16 count aida ! I have to use it instead of linen! Maybe in exchange for a contribution of some sort to your favorite charity! Good luck!
Also worth noting Merejka and you pronounced it correctly…. They take extreme pride in that they are Ukrainian and employ many there.
Loving this! I love making imaginary dimensions wishlists on 123 stitch, I thought I was the only one! 😂
Also, it looks like Merejka is Polish, not Russian. That one was gorgeous! I love the little acorn.
I really enjoyed watching you open your new kits, and enjoyed sharing your excitement. I have completed one Dimensions kit for my husband that was an underwater dolphin scene. I have another one in my stash that reminds of your choices. It is a winter Victorian scene titled Alan Maley’s Gracious Era (1996). Your excitement is contagious! I may have to pull this out and get started. 😊
Thank you for sharing your beautiful 🤩 kits. Have a wonderful week and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
That was a great informative video. I think I stopped stitching dimensions just 25 years ago because of that mess of floss. Just not for me, but that chart is beautiful. The other 2 kits seemed to be so much nicer organized and I love the Merejka style ! I will be doing that winter one for sure!
In case you haven't seen it, Country Stitchers Liz and Deb took a road trip to a Dimensions plant or factory a couple years ago. Was very interesting.
OMG, I absolutely love that you fell down the cross stitch kit rabbit hole. They’re addicting. Xoxo
I love your enthusiasm about these kits. It was also nice to see how they're all packaged and organized. I have only stitched the big box kits, Dimensions, Bucilla, Design Works, etc. Thanks for sharing!
How fun watching you Liz opening your fabulous new patterns!! I can't wait to watch you on this new adventure!! I love all of them however Christmas Cove. It's stunning to say the least. I'm just starting to stitch on linen & I love it. 36 ct is what I'm using right now.
Thank you for inviting us to your new adventure!! I wish you the very best!! 🎉🎉🥰🥰
Beautiful kits, I have done lots of kits, let’s hope they sent you enough thread or at least give you the dmc number in case you run out or if you make mistakes. That’s the only thing I worry about
Fun choices Liz, it is amazing how beautifully packed the threads are now I remember the kits I bought years ago, they had threads all over the place, good idea to put the thread number for reference.
That little fox face is adorable, I like the thread card with the numbers on it.
I was so excited but then the loose threads popped my bubble, wow, I hope you keep us posted on your progress on these lovely designs. Have a great week.
I have Christmas Cove! I've been working on it for like 3 years..haha..but I have started it..start it and we can do it together 😀
These are all beautiful. I can't wait to see you work on them. I bought Christmas Cove when it was released. I did get it started but 1986 was the year our daughter was born with a few complications. Then we moved out of state a couple of times and I lost track of it. It has been my unicorn ever since. I so wish Dimensions would reprint it so more people could stitch it. Happy stitching!
Really enjoyed watching you unbox your kits. It was also really interesting to see the differences between the brands. Thank you! x
It was so much fun seeing the kits. I love the process of kitting
I started my first Dimensions kit recently. Never thought I would like kits. Your kits are beautiful.
Watching you 'geek out' about these kits was fun! 😀 Nothing I'll be doing, but your excitement is fun!
It was so fun watching you open these kits. You were so excited! The black piece with the holes on the Merejka kit is a way to store the threads you are actually working with-it is like the holes on the Luca-S threads.
Welcome to the dark side, Liz! Fun video. 😂
They are lovely designs, Liz. Enjoy! It is funny how i am moving away from Dimensions and stashing your and your mum's charts 😊
Ma’am. Stop it. These are all so freakin’ cute. I also love Christmas scenes. It takes everything I got to not buy a Christmas kit lol.
Loved watching you unveil you treasures❤
I am so excited for you, and this is your jam!
Have fun!
Happy early CHRISTMAS 🎄
Could not click on this any faster!!!!
Ahhhhh Christmas Cove is my unicorn! So happy you were able to snag one ❤
What were the floss tube Channels you watched to get you down this rabbit hole, I’d love to watch them even though I’m in the rabbit hole already , it can always get bigger 😂 thank you in advance
I bought a kit DMC gold line and it took me a long time to sort the threads and they had no numbers just symbols so I drew them out in a very small space we will see how I do can’t wait to see what you do thank you for sharing 😊
I have always converted Dimensions threads to DMC and dumped the jungle of threads that come in the package.
Caterpillar cross stitch has nice thread holders for your dimension kits. 💜
Loved this! We’ll have to start calling you Alice🤣
I bought a couple of kits by Merejka from 123stitch during the pandemic and still have a couple on my wishlist. I haven‘t started any of them. Most are florals.
When you read the whole description of sorting the thread you’ll understand the yarn colours.
This was fun to watch so thank you for including us in the opening of your kits🙂 I have to say, though, that it does look a bit intimidating. I work on smaller pieces, so I'm looking forward to any information you can pass on about these bigger kits.
Beautiful charts! 🤍🥰
Yay for rabbit holes! I’m anxious to see if Winter Sampler by Kooler Designs made your 12x12 list! I’m the same way - love the Christmas scene kits! And I have that Autumn Merejka kit on my Amazon wishlist as well ❤
Maybe the bundles in the Dimensions kit are identified by the color of yarn in the bundle. That would be helpful in identifying and separating each bundle. Liz and Deb from Country Stitchers videotaped a tour of the Dimensions company several years ago. You might checkout their videos from two years or more ago if you are interested.
I’ve done LucaS and it was Anchor threads
I think the yarn identifies the bundles.
❤❤❤
