This monk wanders numbly like how he is supposed to, then the inner desires, sadness, self-rejection, and anger, seep out at times, get stronger, and eventually explode in ways completely on the opposite side of what a monk is supposed to be. After that, he picks himself back together, gets back on his aimless and numb journey, and PRETENDS to be a monk.
Guess you missed his intro to the song. He was going back in time when he was younger, living on his own, feeling alone, lost, frustrated, confused and anguish. Darkness almost consumed him then. In his own words, he added alot of "screaming", just to shout out, to 'save' himself.
This is a fantastic song and performance, but not an easy one to start with for your friend - although he had good taste and liked it.
