Yes, this is raw and emotional, but he goes even farther in a song called, Dad I’m Home. Someone said the original artist made him stop performing it. It was originally a rap style song, and in a show, he was given that song to rearrange in 24 hours, and come back and perform it. I don’t think I have seen any reactor not cry over that performance. You may have to blurr the screen to react to that song, but it is so worth it. Everyone was so stunned by the end of the performance, it was dead silence. Nobody clapped until he nodded and stood up!.

I can't stand that such wonderful talented artists like Hua, KZ, and the great Dimash, should be compared to one another, or for that matter to others.. What tastes better, apples, oranges, cherries, grapes, or pears? Actually when you mix all those fruits together, you get a nice little variety called a fruit salad, but who really cares?? This is my FIRST introduction to Hua Chenyu. I will go see the original video so that I can read the subs of this story prior to the song performance, but this singer is really hitting me hard and his voice is so raw and true.....amazing vocals and amazing emotional infusion of his soul into this song!! I believe that Hua Hua is one of those artists so complete that there is nothing he cannot do. Each of his songs is a message, a story, it has something special that connects you with music and performance. On stage he exudes something magical, the only one that gets to the bottom of your bones no matter what kind of rhythm he is using......you will know what he says even without understanding the language. His wonderful voice, his native tones and even mystical at times create a special atmosphere......I can't imagine what a show must be like, in a huge stadium, full of people and that sound, that acoustics...... !!!!

Indeed HuaHua is so talented as a composer/musician, I truly think he's our contemporary Beethoven or rather Bach as he loves him. The original song is a rock song with almost a tribal beat, in this video it's the 3rd time that HuaHua rearranges it and with his acquired maturity and experience, he's made it into a unique art piece that blows our mind, we're all drawn in the performance, and for me it's the same every time I watch it, thanks for a very cool reaction, not the least bit boring! Hua Chenyu is an incredible singer and musician! TALENT. I like to watch him perform. His songs are always stories that he tells us. His voice, facial expressions, body movements are incredible. I love this artist! Hua Chenyu, Diana and Dimash are my musical drugs. They are excellent talented artists. And they are incredibly humble and kind people. You may not speak Chinese, Russian, Kazakh, French, and so on, but your heart knows what they are singing about. The language of music is a universal language, it is understood by everyone I think they are the best.
I was watching this singing competition show while it was ongoing in 2018 and had tears streaming down my face when i saw this performance. I think when you said it felt like an out of body experience, it's the perfect way to describe it. We love the artist for his undisputed talent and genius, for his creativity and delivery in his performances. However, we were unable to dissociate the artist from his story. No one can or should compare Dimash and HuaHua because they are two completely different singers and performers, and yet equally passionate and emotional when it comes to their performances. For me, these two are the two best singers in the world, two true artists who captivate us, draw us into their performance and arouse emotions that rarely any singer can, they can do that even with performances without a single word (lyrics) such as: Ave Maria and Know (vocalise) by Dimash and Cancer by HuaHua.
Hua Hua is an artist with the unique capability of pouring every bit of himself into every song he performs. There is never any question of how much of what you are watching is true feeling and how much is performance for the audiences sake. Every bit of every performance is 100% pure Hua Hua. He is okay with stripping his own soul bare for the world to see and just laying it all out there. Sometimes (as with this song) it can be painful to watch but we can never avert our gaze because it is always magical even when painful. I have never seen another artist so in touch with their feelings and so willing to just lay them bare at their audiences feet as Hua Hua does. He is one of a kind and very very special. PS, I just noticed that you really hit the trifecta of amazing songs these past two days. I now have to go and watch your reactions to Forestella "Bohemian Rhapsody" and So Hyang "Everyone" now.
That entire season is worth watching. All his episodes are amazing! And he came in second. But he won the next season he was on. It would be great if you could react to them.
If you want to see another uniquely emotional performances, please watch Hua's "Dad, I'm Home" performance. Like this one, it's much more a performance piece than what you'd traditionally think of as a 'song', but it has just as much if not more emotional weight and connection. And, though most people believe he personally went through what the song is about, he didn't, but that's just how immensely skilled he is in his performance and art. You won't be disappointed!

He is incredibly talented. Some of my favorite songs come from the 2020 Singer show: Jackdow Boy, Us, and Contra in the Wild are a few that stuck out. Especially the song Us. Such a heartfelt song and the way he performed it, makes me cry every time.
Ah amazing! I can't wait. Hard to describe what I feel when I watch this, but I feel it every time. Suffice it to say that I have watched a pair of metalheads brought to tears the first time they listened to it. Quite understandable. Unfortunately I doubt he will ever perform in the West, I stand to be corrected, but I don't think there has ever been a hint of it. I don't in fact think he has performed outside China.

I'm a real music lover listening to many genres and I always look out to find "the real thing" with true emotion. When I watched this performance for the first time I had tears in my eyes (and I'm a 60 year old guy). Your reaction was far away from boring for me: How can anybody not be stunned watching Hua Chenyu performing "Fake Monk"? An incredible song and an amazing artist. All the best to you and everybody from Germany :) One more thing: It's so good that music can connect people from different places on this planet emotionally no matter what happens and what is sometimes out of our power to change it.
Yes truly unique in many ways. If you get a chance to watch Cui Jian's original version (which is a great song too) you realize Hua indeed completely transformed the song. Agree to other comments that Ordinary Path and Child are great performances in the show. But I like the pieces Hua wrote to raise awareness to mental health issues. I think of this as more performance art than a song. Just one person, sitting on a mostly darkened stage, playing piano with one hand, and singing quietly and making sounds, holding the audience captive. Someone told me once that Fake Monk is an expression that means two-faced, and if you look closely, his face is divided in two by pink and blue lights. Every detail of this performance is meticulously thought out. Is the fake monk really a monk? Is he sincere about anything? Some of the lyrics are actually mean. I don't care about your tears. Don't feel bad about falling in love with me, even though I will leave. Yet, as you said, you can feel HuaHua's pain and grief in this. He's singing his childhood, and it's pretty much joyless. I've cried to it many times, imagining that child in bed, surrounded by superheroes and clutching a toy gun for protection. It breaks my heart, and I think it explains a lot about why so many of us are so protective of him. How he has managed to keep his heart so open is beyond me. To see you so touched by this means the world to me. I want everyone to understand what a genuine artist and genius HuaHua is. I don't believe he'll ever perform outside China, though I hope I'm wrong, but the entire world should know his work. He deserves that. Thank you.

Hua Chenyu is not afraid to express the darker side of humanity along with fun, high-energy songs like Nunchucks. His fans will request a variety of songs, styles, and emotions to balance out the darker ones. My advice: You're likely to get a better mix of reactions by choosing songs from people who request more than just one or two titles. Some of the people who only asked for Fake Monk, and are now only asking for one other song, just want to see reactors cry or be scared. Listen to the people who can't pick just one or two favorite songs for you to react to, because we love so many.🥰 That's my advice. YMMV.
Imo this is not a performance, this is an experience, Hua makes the audience feel the message, the dilemas and the agony of the artist. I think it is a higher form of singing, similar to Sohyang and a few other arists that can touch us deeply by offering encounters rather than just notes. For emotional performances I suggest Park Hyoshin "Wildflower" (from Huiyeol's Sketchbook) or Song So Hee "Spring Day" or "Tumen River"

I know nowadays people don’t recommend but I would like to recommend this song to you. He composed this song in 2015. This song do not have lyrics but he has the ability to give you a complete image of how cancer is. People try not to face the topic of illness or dying but it’s part of life. It can give you distorted feelings but it can give people awareness that cancer lives in our cells and we need to realize it and live healthy. ❤️🌹🌹
Just be aware that the song Cancer is a tough one. I am a Martian but can only listen to this song twice a year. It is an art performance that will make you feel extremly uncomfortable. This song is not meant to sound nice. But the topic is very important. It is just sad for me to know that a lot of people don't understand this artistic performance. I love both dimash and Huahua but I remember someone one saying- when dimash used theatrics it seems to be more for the purpose of drawing attention to him and his on stage persona etc, when huahua uses his theatrics, it feels purely to visualise the music itself and bring focus to that artistry. It seems somehow selfless and makes you lost within his creation rather than depending more on so called ‘perfection’ in terms of tune, shock factor etc. huahua is actually the opposite of dimash in this way, he hates the idea of singing with the goal of sounding ‘in tune’. For him, each lyric is a verbal cry, a chant, a command and so on. They are both insanely talented but that’s why I prefer Huahua, especially when you realise that this very performance was composed, arranged in just 48 hours I believe. We knew Huahua was a musical genius when he first auditioned on tv with a song he created made purely of vocals but no lyrics- just noise.
I don't think any of your reactions could be boring, because you're really paying attention to whatever you're watching, so don't worry about that - plus, either you scream loud enough to knock my socks off, or you get so quietly engrossed, like you did with this one. And honestly, SAME. When I first stumbled on Hua Chenyu and this song, I sobbed. I had to watch it at least 10 times before I could do so without crying. The personal back story added even more emotion to it (glad you watched the interview beforehand), and the fact that he musically arranged the original (turned it upside down and inside out, more like) in just 24 hours (?) for the show... he really is a born artist. You've had plenty of suggestions and they're all good. A couple that probably won't get suggested though are 'For Forever' I tend to watch this after Fake Monk as it it is a really upbeat song and he (and his fans) seem to be having so much fun at his concert. I think that he has ended his concerts with it to send people away with smiles on their faces. About this song - Buddhist monks used to go from door to door collecting food, so that they could spend the rest of their time on spiritual matters such as meditation, and the people believed that they would acquire spiritual merit by donating. The singer is a "fake monk" because he wants the free food, but hasn't given up his material desires. For one of the most emotion transmitting songs on UA-cam, see "My Mind" by Yebba (Abbey Smith) at Sofar (songs from a room) in N.Y.C.. It's just her and a guitarist.

For another of his songs that'll just go for the heartstrings, I'd highly recommend Dad, I'm Home. He pours in just as much emotion into it, and the story it tells is absolutely heart wrenching, and the song is simply beautiful.

This is my FIRST introduction to Hua Chenyu. I will go see the original video so that I can read the subs of this story prior to the song performance, but this singer is really hitting me hard and his voice is so raw and true.....amazing vocals and amazing emotional infusion of his soul into this song!! They're both singers who share that strange ability to reach beyond your mind, beyond your defenses and touch your soul. They're both very powerful.
I believe that Hua Hua is one of those artists so complete that there is nothing he cannot do. Each of his songs is a message, a story, it has something special that connects you with music and performance. On stage he exudes something magical, the only one that gets to the bottom of your bones no matter what kind of rhythm he is using......you will know what he says even without understanding the language. His wonderful voice, his native tones and even mystical at times create a special atmosphere......I can't imagine what a show must be like, in a huge stadium, full of people and that sound, that acoustics...... !!!!

Yes, I feel this too. I love this performance so much. I know this performance is not everybody's cup of tea but for me it is pure art. He has so many different sides. He is also an amazing composer. Indeed HuaHua is so talented as a composer/musician, I truly think he's our contemporary Beethoven or rather Bach as he loves him. The original song is a rock song with almost a tribal beat, in this video it's the 3rd time that HuaHua rearranges it and with his acquired maturity and experience, he's made it into a unique art piece that blows our mind, we're all drawn in the performance, and for me it's the same every time I watch it, thanks for a very cool reaction, not the least bit boring! How you don’t disappoint! Thanks for reacting to Hua again. Yes he is a musical genius with a hypnotic presence on stage. This is not his song, he rewrote it for the show The Singer in 2018. This is a dramatic and intense performance that will haunt you for a while.
Next stop Qi Tian, or Bullfighting? He only has 1 love song in his repertoire (King and Beggar), he usually composes and sings about universal love, love for nature, philosophy…

I was watching this singing competition show while it was ongoing in 2018 and had tears streaming down my face when i saw this performance. I think when you said it felt like an out of body experience, it's the perfect way to describe it. In several songs HuaHua tells us about himself. I recommend watching "Child" and "Ordinary Path", for example. We love the artist for his undisputed talent and genius, for his creativity and delivery in his performances. However, we were unable to dissociate the artist from his story. Don't be sorry, your reaction wasn't boring at all as I could relate completely! I cried the first time I experienced (I can describe it as heard or watched, because HuaHua's performances are a whole experience) this art piece, masterpiece of a performance. He really has the ability to make you speechless, you're not the only one! I feel like everytime HuaHua performs, he has a magical ability to transport us into his world. Fully immersed, out-of-body experience. Something truly special.
No one can or should compare Dimash and HuaHua because they are two completely different singers and performers, and yet equally passionate and emotional when it comes to their performances. For me, these two are the two best singers in the world, two true artists who captivate us, draw us into their performance and arouse emotions that rarely any singer can, they can do that even with performances without a single word (lyrics) such as: Ave Maria and Know (vocalise) by Dimash and Cancer by HuaHua.
Hua Hua is an artist with the unique capability of pouring every bit of himself into every song he performs. There is never any question of how much of what you are watching is true feeling and how much is performance for the audiences sake. Every bit of every performance is 100% pure Hua Hua. He is okay with stripping his own soul bare for the world to see and just laying it all out there. Sometimes (as with this song) it can be painful to watch but we can never avert our gaze because it is always magical even when painful. I have never seen another artist so in touch with their feelings and so willing to just lay them bare at their audiences feet as Hua Hua does. He is one of a kind and very very special. PS, I just noticed that you really hit the trifecta of amazing songs these past two days. I now have to go and watch your reactions to Forestella "Bohemian Rhapsody" and So Hyang "Everyone" now.
That entire season is worth watching. All his episodes are amazing! And he came in second. But he won the next season he was on. It would be great if you could react to them.

If you want to see another uniquely emotional performances, please watch Hua's "Dad, I'm Home" performance. Like this one, it's much more a performance piece than what you'd traditionally think of as a 'song', but it has just as much if not more emotional weight and connection. And, though most people believe he personally went through what the song is about, he didn't, but that's just how immensely skilled he is in his performance and art. You won't be disappointed!

Hua Chenyu is a really unique talent when it comes to conveying emotion through music. And this Fake Monk performance hits hard. Please listen to his Seven Personalities - another great song and my favourite one! If you're interested in his vocal range, you may check his performance of Child (again from Singer 2018).
He is incredibly talented. Some of my favorite songs come from the 2020 Singer show: Jackdow Boy, Us, and Contra in the Wild are a few that stuck out. Especially the song Us. Such a heartfelt song and the way he performed it, makes me cry every time.
Ah amazing! I can't wait. Hard to describe what I feel when I watch this, but I feel it every time. Suffice it to say that I have watched a pair of metalheads brought to tears the first time they listened to it. Quite understandable. Unfortunately I doubt he will ever perform in the West, I stand to be corrected, but I don't think there has ever been a hint of it. I don't in fact think he has performed outside China.

I have been eagerly waiting for you to react to another Huahua performance and so happy you have. This is raw and primal in some ways, but in others can be so much fun & quirky or utterly heartwrenching He's a beautiful emotional rollercoaster of a singer. For something less emotionally draining and more upbeat you could go for "Bullfight" (Original), "Qi Tian (Original) "Seven Personalities" (original) Madhouse (original) or "Jackdaw boy" (original) ... he has soooo much good stuff, and his live concert performances are every bit as good too!!! I'm a real music lover listening to many genres and I always look out to find "the real thing" with true emotion. When I watched this performance for the first time I had tears in my eyes (and I'm a 60 year old guy). Your reaction was far away from boring for me: How can anybody not be stunned watching Hua Chenyu performing "Fake Monk"? An incredible song and an amazing artist. One more thing: It's so good that music can connect people from different places on this planet emotionally no matter what happens and what is sometimes out of our power to change it.
Yes truly unique in many ways. If you get a chance to watch Cui Jian's original version (which is a great song too) you realize Hua indeed completely transformed the song. Agree to other comments that Ordinary Path and Child are great performances in the show. But I like the pieces Hua wrote to raise awareness to mental health issues. I think of this as more performance art than a song. Just one person, sitting on a mostly darkened stage, playing piano with one hand, and singing quietly and making sounds, holding the audience captive. Someone told me once that Fake Monk is an expression that means two-faced, and if you look closely, his face is divided in two by pink and blue lights. Every detail of this performance is meticulously thought out. Is the fake monk really a monk? Is he sincere about anything? Some of the lyrics are actually mean. I don't care about your tears. Don't feel bad about falling in love with me, even though I will leave. Yet, as you said, you can feel HuaHua's pain and grief in this. He's singing his childhood, and it's pretty much joyless. I've cried to it many times, imagining that child in bed, surrounded by superheroes and clutching a toy gun for protection. It breaks my heart, and I think it explains a lot about why so many of us are so protective of him. How he has managed to keep his heart so open is beyond me. To see you so touched by this means the world to me. I want everyone to understand what a genuine artist and genius HuaHua is. I don't believe he'll ever perform outside China, though I hope I'm wrong, but the entire world should know his work. He deserves that. Thank you.

Hua Chenyu is not afraid to express the darker side of humanity along with fun, high-energy songs like Nunchucks. His fans will request a variety of songs, styles, and emotions to balance out the darker ones. My advice: You're likely to get a better mix of reactions by choosing songs from people who request more than just one or two titles. Some of the people who only asked for Fake Monk, and are now only asking for one other song, just want to see reactors cry or be scared. Listen to the people who can't pick just one or two favorite songs for you to react to, because we love so many.🥰 That's my advice. YMMV.

Imo this is not a performance, this is an experience, Hua makes the audience feel the message, the dilemas and the agony of the artist. I think it is a higher form of singing, similar to Sohyang and a few other arists that can touch us deeply by offering encounters rather than just notes.
For emotional performances I suggest Park Hyoshin "Wildflower" (from Huiyeol's Sketchbook)
or Song So Hee "Spring Day" or "Tumen River"

I know nowadays people don’t recommend but I would like to recommend this song to you. He composed this song in 2015. This song do not have lyrics but he has the ability to give you a complete image of how cancer is. People try not to face the topic of illness or dying but it’s part of life. It can give you distorted feelings but it can give people awareness that cancer lives in our cells and we need to realize it and live healthy. ❤️🌹🌹

Just be aware that the song Cancer is a tough one. I am a Martian but can only listen to this song twice a year. It is an art performance that will make you feel extremly uncomfortable. This song is not meant to sound nice. But the topic is very important. It is just sad for me to know that a lot of people don't understand this artistic performance. All the performers in this show are so amazing they all put their fillings into the songs you should watch the whole show. You should react to tengger too. Unbelievable!!
I love both dimash and Huahua but I remember someone one saying- when dimash used theatrics it seems to be more for the purpose of drawing attention to him and his on stage persona etc, when huahua uses his theatrics, it feels purely to visualise the music itself and bring focus to that artistry. It seems somehow selfless and makes you lost within his creation rather than depending more on so called ‘perfection’ in terms of tune, shock factor etc. huahua is actually the opposite of dimash in this way, he hates the idea of singing with the goal of sounding ‘in tune’. For him, each lyric is a verbal cry, a chant, a command and so on. They are both insanely talented but that’s why I prefer Huahua, especially when you realise that this very performance was composed, arranged in just 48 hours I believe. We knew Huahua was a musical genius when he first auditioned on tv with a song he created made purely of vocals but no lyrics- just noise.
I don't think any of your reactions could be boring, because you're really paying attention to whatever you're watching, so don't worry about that - plus, either you scream loud enough to knock my socks off, or you get so quietly engrossed, like you did with this one. And honestly, SAME. When I first stumbled on Hua Chenyu and this song, I sobbed. I had to watch it at least 10 times before I could do so without crying. The personal back story added even more emotion to it (glad you watched the interview beforehand), and the fact that he musically arranged the original (turned it upside down and inside out, more like) in just 24 hours (?) for the show... he really is a born artist. A creative genius. Truly in his own league. No need for competition or comparison. (By the way, I'm here for all your BTS content and I don't care to compare anyone - I love them all and respect them all in their own right). (I know you didn't compare, but I just felt the need to say this after saying 'Hua Chenyu is in a class of his own'... every artist has their unique something. Chenyu's artistry is just a bit more out there and 'elemental' like you said, even though we can't define exactly what that means, haha).

That was a great reaction and far from boring. Thank you for watching the longer version and thank you for watching until the end. The tears in your eyes and the smile at the end when he stood up, broke character and smiled said more than words. As others have said it's art not singing.
You've had plenty of suggestions and they're all good. A couple that probably won't get suggested though are 'For Forever' I tend to watch this after Fake Monk as it it is a really upbeat song and he (and his fans) seem to be having so much fun at his concert. I think that he has ended his concerts with it to send people away with smiles on their faces. There are a number of vids of it but my current favourite is ua-cam.com/video/6xyzx8XIusY/v-deo.html on the Yu A channel (it might be his own channel) though you need to skip the first 2 mins as there is no English sub. The song itself is a rare completely English song (his cover of Creep by Radiohead is another). It's not going to leave you gobsmacked like others but it's fun and you'll see what attending a concert might be like.
Another option would be to go back to the beginning and his first audition for Super Boy in 2013. TBH you can watch whatever you like as you won't be disappointed but you might not want to hit all the emotionally hard songs in a row. As to 'Dad I'm Home' (suggested by others) it will wreck you. About this song - Buddhist monks used to go from door to door collecting food, so that they could spend the rest of their time on spiritual matters such as meditation, and the people believed that they would acquire spiritual merit by donating. The singer is a "fake monk" because he wants the free food, but hasn't given up his material desires. "Dad, I'm Home" is no longer in UA-cam? That was a great, educational video against domestic violence! I've seen reactors from different countries giving their domestic violence hotline. It's too bad. I really like that song.
@@karend1577 It's only there as an audio - so the whole visual effect of his portraying the events as personally real to him is lost. I haven't checked to see if the song was removed from the video of the entire episode though.

For another of his songs that'll just go for the heartstrings, I'd highly recommend Dad, I'm Home. He pours in just as much emotion into it, and the story it tells is absolutely heart wrenching, and the song is simply beautiful.
