• MASSIVE Cheap Plates! ...
You guys hit the jackpot with Garden Island Cafe! Very good value! Hawaiian BBQ House is also good. In fact. that whole shopping plaza can be considered cheap eats! There's another cheap eats place in Don Quijote: Oh My Grill! Breakfast for under $10, as well as NY steak and chicken katsu for under $10! They have three locations, the other two being Pearl Kai and McCully SC. Waipahu DQ is scheduled to be demolished to make way for rail housing, but a replacement store in Kapolei is getting ready to open. Hopefully OMG will be there, too!

OMG, that looked so ONO! I'm watching this at 11pm at night and craving mochiko chicken, spicy garlic pork, and chicken cutlet. Oh yeah, and that soft serve! 😋Thanks for sharing these "cheap eats" (even though I still remember when a plate lunch used to be 5 bucks! 🤣 ) and especially for highlighting local businesses.

Both Felix and Amanda really make the viewer hungry to eat those plates, especially late at night before bedtime, making us wish we had that item now. Good video. I hope one day, you both try Gina's in Kapolei by Foodland. My wife loves their Spicy Saba plate. It's not the cheapest, but it's good and massive.

Garden Island Cafe is so good. Had the lunch specials last week Kau Yuk and Beef Chow Fun was so good, so much too was enough to eat lunch & dinner for 2 people

I used to live very close to the Hawaiian BBQ House literally a 5 minute walk from Leolua St during the 90's and I'd walk to Zippy's too, there used to be a bar and I think a Chinese restaurant and a convenient store.

Aloha, Amanda & Felix...Garden Island Cafe is the spot for massive plate lunches. I have had them & so much food! Sure get your monies worth. I wanna try those Crab Rangoon's. Man, they were loaded & huge. I never had them from that restaurant. When Felix held it up, did you see the inside of that crab filling? Bombucha LOL! I really got to try that thank you for sharing the video.

They filmed the episode btwn 2/5-2/11. The items they had were specials for that week. Garlic fish plate will be at tegular price if you go today, Tuesday.. still, a reasonable price. Believe the owners told me long ago that the fish used is saba.

try Mitch's Fish Market and Sushi Bar in the Mapunapuna district. 4.3 starts out of 5 on Yelp with 1292 reviews. Pricey though.

Garden Island Cafe used to be located in Manoa near my workplace and I miss it dearly...

@@AmandaFelixEats where Off the Hook is now occupying the space, Garden Island Cafe re-started at Waipahu location on April 1, 2018.
That’s where we found out about the place in Manoa. But we still drove to Waipahu to get our favorite salt and pepper pork chop. We still do. It’s the best. Yana is the owners wife name. So friendly. I always see the lower income patrons at Garden Isle probably because of the cheap eats but I think the owners give them good deals and takes care of them.

Hi Amanda and Felix, the Island Garden Cafe looks ono kind grindz, big portion of food for your kala. Got to try this place out to when I get back home. I tried hawaiian BBQ, it was also good. Heard good things about Garden Island Cafe. Had a party catered from there and their Chinese food was pretty good. Never tried the plate lunches.

Would you guys consider checking out if restaurants offer gluten free or allergy options at restaurants ? I have been diagnosed with celiacs, gluten allergy , and last time in Oahu, not many options outside of resort. That we could find anyway.
