It moved to Beretania for a few reasons. The main sponsor is American Savings Bank, so they liked it on Beretania st, fronting their headquarters.
Doing it on Maunakea and Smith St requires more logistics and cost.
Beretania is a single street, so traffic control and management of the festival is easier.
Beretania has more space and doesn’t interfere with the stores.
We walked by when you were eating the shumai and made me hungry.

The last time I was in China town, this 70 year old granny was trying to start trouble with a heavy set 50 year old Jenny Craig dropout. "You wanna fight!" She would say with her sun spot ridden fists up. Honolulu Chinatown. Always excitement! 🎉😂

Excellent food haul. So glad you got to try some of the foods being offered. It looked like a madhouse. I also got the red bean curd and dried bean curd sticks in Chinatown a few weeks back for the Jai that I made. Kung Hee Fat Choy as the Cantonese Chinese say it.

Thanks for the video! My wife and I travelled to Hawaii last week for our 10th anniversary and made a point of visiting this night market, unfortunately we arrived later in the evening when things got really busy, so didn’t get a chance to try much due to the lines, did have that amazing honeycomb ice cream though 😊

Aloha, Amanda & Felix, & Davonn... HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR = KUNG HEI FAT CHOI 2024, Year of the Wooden Dragon. WOW, so much fun and all that great food...Pumpkin Mochi sounds so yummy...I missed that one, OMG, so much good food, very crowded and the festival seems to be growing larger every year now. I also visited the Vietnamese Lunar Festival at Waikiki - Kapiolani Park, and it had some of the best chicken skewers I ever ate. $5 dollars for a cost of one skewer but it was really addicting among some of the other great foods too. I've had that half-moon Amanda was showcasing and it's super good. Amanda makes Jai, must be delicious. She has great taste. I wanted this video to be longer. Loved it and look forward to the next adventure.

Was down there on Friday & area had pretty good crowd but Not like when you guys went down. Picked up Chinese calendar, look funn & some other cooking ingredients. Only place didn't get to "visit" was Sing Cheong Yuan coz line was down the block(Sigh)

lol fermented tofu? I have PTSD from childhood, my mom loves funyu (Japanese fermented tofu, not sure if it's the same as what you bought) and we'd literally run away from the kitchen lol. But I can't judge too harshly, I love natto (fermented soybeans) with rice ;)
I believe it’s the same thing🤔 lol yes, it does get quite stinky but once you cook it with all the veggies and flavors you can’t taste it too much 🤤🤤🤤 lol
