I’ve meant to tell you 9700 times how much I look forward to the analog thermometer at the beginning of your videos!!! 😂😂 Isn’t that silly?! I just think it’s so neat to see what it’s actually like there vs Savannah, GA where it’s still highs in the 80’s!!! 🤢🤢 Sooo over it!! I think y’all have THE coolest most beautiful life up there and it’s so neat to get to see it!!! Love you, Jessica!! And Bert and Audrey and Evelynn and Garrett!! Beep!!! 😭😭😭
Here in NZ we don't really have built in heat or air conditioning. So the main thing we have to look out for mould and damp. And if you have pets it is really hard to get a house that lets you have them.
You guys are such an inspiration to me! It's so refreshing to see a real family that loves the Lord!! I homeschooled my 3 kids also! My youngest is 21 so it has been a bit but it was one of the best decisions we ever made. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family and Alaska with all of us 💕
The collection looks awesome - great modeling job ladies! I live in a college town and it's hard to find month-to-month rentals. Most are leased and if you move out before the lease, you pay the remainder of your lease.
In Joplin MO. You look for a basement, that it's not bug infested, and the electricity bill is not outrageous we are in tornado alley that's why your number one is the basement or storm shelter
Where I live we have to have air conditioning because it’s so hot. A garage is important because the sun damages the paint work on your car really quickly. We have lots of problems with termites, so a termite barrier around the house is great. We need to keep the house sprayed against pests because of the venomous spiders and rodents. Snakes are a bit of a problem too so it’s wise not to have water features in your yard it attracts them. We have some of the deadliest snakes in the world here so we are smart to be cautious. I keep the number of the snake catcher on hand. We also need to be aware of cyclones and tropical storms so keep debris away from your yard. That being said, it’s still a beautiful part of the world and I love it here. The advantages far outweigh the negatives. I live in tropical Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 beautiful one day, perfect the next.
in some cities in MI you have to worry about the way rents are being raised every year. most of the units that are being torn down were affordable for many folks while the new units are very high priced. you see a lot more people looking for rooms to rent because they can't afford their own apt. in rural areas the rents are cheaper but then you have longer commutes to work and back home.
Hi guys! Your video was recommended via UA-cam and I'm so glad I found ya'll! We're in Alaska, too (Palmer), and are so glad to find some fellow Alaskans to follow! Love seeing your northern adventures!
You all look beautiful in your Buffbunny video!!! It is so wonderful that your mom was able to rent from you. It's so nice to be in a situation where you are able to help one another. I hope your family is able to stay in Alaska to be close to you. If not full time then at least to snow bird as your mom said in a previous video. Is Emily taking classes while in Alaska? BTW, your mom is rockin the new hair 😊
Your mom looks so young with her new hair cut! In NJ you have to check for mold, water leaks, you have to do a walk through and document any and all damages or problems before and after you move in.
Southern Oklahoma before we bought our current house we rented for a few years. We made the air/heat was well maintenanced. We also sprayed for pesky bugs, spiders, ants, etc. and checked for snakes
In Townsville Australia, the biggest thing to be aware of are the flood zones (whether it is salt or freshwater and frequency) and evacuation zones centres. Awesome clothing promo guys. You all looked great and did a super job. Very professional guys. So glad Jess's Mum is happier being in her new home with a garage, especially coming into winter. It would be great to see her place once she has unpacked.
Minnesota you check for a dry basement and that your house elevation rolls the water away from your house. Don't forget the heat for the - 50s in the winter and a dehumidifier for the summer to keep mold away.
Welcome to the best group of Happy Peoples !! This is my favorite channel, and you too will soon become as addicted to this great family as the rest of us!! ~God Bless~
In Northern California we have to worry about: how close you are to rivers (prone to flooding), fires, cockroaches, rats (also related to how close you are to a river), and crime.
Plus earthquakes and making sure things are bolted down to the walls so they don't fall on you. (Note China cabinet flew open and glass was flying at my head.) Grew up in Northern California and went through the 1989 earthquake.
I just started watching your videos! I’ve lived in Alaska (Matsu area) my whole life and just recently moved to Fairbanks 6 months ago! I love your moms new hair!
We don't rent now, but in our area, we HAVE to look for homes with Refrigerated Air System. This area used to be so dry so Evaporative Coolers or Swamp Coolers were quite popular. Since so many people were adding swimming pools, we are finding its becoming more humid in our area. When the humidity is less than 20%, the Evaporative coolers work great, when it's higher, the house is quite hot!! Our previous homeowners bought 2 Trane Air Conditioners, Gas Heaters combined and we LOVE it!! Our house used to have the Evaporative Coolers and all of the duct work is nicely insulated for the switch!! In our area near the Rio Grande River, we have Skunks, Foxes, and Raccoons, and a ton of Mosquitos!! On the Franklin Mountains, they have to watch out for Snakes, Scorpians, Vinagaroons, Deer, and sometimes Mountain Lion. It's different here at an elevation of almost 4,000 feet above sea level. We don't get much rain here, but when it does, it can pour HARD!!
My daughter and I Love the Buff Bunny Collections!! Great photos of you, Jessica, your Sister in law, Jessica, and the rest of the family!! I love the Violet Blogs videos as well!!
In Florida the biggest concern is the AC!! Also, mold, hurricanes, snakes, spiders and basically anything that crawls or Fly's. If it crawls and flys just run!!
Being a military family we've had to change what we look for in rentals a lot! In the western states like California and Utah, it's been air conditioning and making sure not to be close to high traffic streets. In the northern states we've been to (North Dakota and Montana), definitely heat, garage and making sure not to be in a flood zone.
In Utah you should look out for a high water ceiling since most homes have basements which could flood. Also just gotta find the right mix of affordable yet nice neighborhood which has become harder with the rising home prices.
I love that you all gave one of your rentals to your mom I know if I had rentals like this that I would have gave it to my mom as well but I love your videos they make me smile and your kids are getting so big.
Yay!! So excited you put some of the pictures and the video from your photo shoot. They were absolutely beautiful! Wow! You should do that more often! 😊
In Colorado from Denver to Fort Collins, rent is pretty expensive. In most areas, a 3 bedroom/2bath house with roughly 1500sq ft and a postage stamp yard is about $2200 or more a month. Purchasing the same size house starts around $400k. The altitude and very low humidity is a big deal too, have to stay really hydrated.
Congrats to Nana on the new house rental! Yea for warm garages!! Congrats to Evelynn and Garrett on their awana awards! The buff bunny video looks amazing-you’re all so gorgeous! And great to see Chad make a cameo in the vlog. ❤️❤️❤️
Love your channel Alaska Gurl!!! Just curious.. lol.., y do you guys not have grass around your home? I would be crazy trying to keep the grit and mud out !! ❤️💕❤️
I live in Vermont and its VERY expensive to live here. Grocerys, rent, fuel, housing everything!! What we have to worry about is about the same as with you in AK. Our top 3 would be fuel cost, rent and garage. When its -40 out you need that garage!! Rent is very high here as well so if your lucky enough to get heat included is a win. But normally for a small 2 bedroom apt your looking at about $1600 and thats not with anything!! But just like in AK, VT does have alot advantages to living here ❤
I live down in anchorage AK. Only for two more weeks. But here it’s who your renting from( private rentals are way better then large companies), Crime is a huge one, and neighbors.
I actually lived in Alaska in the mid eighties. I lived on Ft. Richardson just outside of Anchorage. I loved it so much! I moved back to Pennsylvania to be with my family but I still remember all the adventures I had. Riding the Alaskan railroad to Fairbanks and going to North Pole and to the Santa Claus house. I went salmon fishing and hiking and cross country skiing and snow shoeing and hunting and... well there's just so much! My daughter lived there too when her husband was stationed there. I hope some day my youngest son gets to visit tho I don't think he'd come back. He works for an excavating company and works on diesel engines and heavy equipment because he loves being outdoors. He also hunts and has snow machines and I know in my mom heart that he'd call and say he found a job and is staying in Alaska. At least I could visit! I love your videos and enjoy your family. Many blessings to you all.
Here in Kansas, I feel like it is important to have a basement or access to a storm shelter. We get tornadoes in the spring and summer here. Also, along with that and thunderstorms, you may want a garage or carport because of possibe hail damage. We don't have a lot of critters to be worried about other than brown recluse spiders which are common in houses.
Here in Anchorage, Alaska we look at square footage, garage, yard (3 dogs), and keeping carpet to a minimum ( again, 3 dogs). Moose are everywhere, so nothing to consider there. We live near Bi-centennial Park, so bears are something to keep an eye out for.
I'm from Massachusetts but I lived in South Carolina for 10 years so now I look for central AC & ceiling fans(or the ability to ceiling fans in). In New England lots of places only have window AC units & those puppies are loud!
In Florida, you have to make sure that the AC is the proper size and working properly (our last house it wasn’t and our power bill for a 1,000sf house was over $400 a month), I live in a part of Florida where there are a LOT of lakes so you have to make sure the city sprays for mosquitoes because they are terrible all year round, and always make sure it’s never downhill with flooding in Florida... so scary.
In NE OKLA, we have the creepy crawlies, it gets cold here & very humid & hot, so we have central heat & AC. Tornadoes are a big thing here, so many homes have storm shelters, which are concrete shelters, above or below ground, large enough for a family to hunker down in during the bad storms. That's really about it here, oh wait. Ice, we get ice storms & those are horrible. They shut down the city basically, except your job, those bosses expect you to get there & perform your job well still.
My brother moves to the Fairbanks area in just a few weeks. Taking in all the information we possibly can! Making me wish I could go with him! Here in Oklahoma, you have to be aware of a storm shelter when hunting for a place to stay. Tornados are a very common thing, and you have to know where to go. It's a huge plus if the place you're living has a shelter of its own. Otherwise, people hide in the bathtubs and hope for the best, or go to public shelters at the slightest chance of trouble.
Happy Monday, Somer’s Family! ~ Always a blessing to have family to help and sooo happy your mom & sister can move into one of your places. A huge win for everyone. Stay blessed. ❤️🙏🏼 P.S. Jessica, you nailed the photo shoot too! 📸 🙌🏼 💪🏼. Ans a huge win for everyone. Stay blessed! P.P.S. We truly want to move there from the Seattle area. So many things we’ve looked into, timing it just right (weather) and to build, is our ultimate goal. Might have to rent first to wait during a build like you did.🤞🏼
Utilities, as far as peak billing amounts for previous year. Age and condition issues of major appliances and your heat source. I hope your mother will love the new place!
From Missouri! I now own a house, but when I rented I wanted to be as close to ground level as possible because of tornadoes. Another important must was having firewalls. They obviously helped as a fire barrier, added a little insulation and you don’t hear your neighbors. And also I had to make sure it didn’t wreak of smoke. Unfortunately, a lot of people smoke here and since I don’t, I can’t have my living space smelling of it from the last person.
That is so awesome your Mom has a Great landlord that will work with here on the lease agreement! Also she knows a great Heating expert if she has any issues with her heat. It looks like the kids had a really yummy dinner!
I rent and my worries are flooding during rainy season or storms, window screens (mosquitoes) and all appliances are working condition. Love the video. Hafa Adai from Guam.
We live in a small rural town in MO. The big things to look for are: brown recluse spiders, rodents, and snakes. Other property issues are mold, foundation problems, flooding. Also our town charges new owners/renters if the previous person didn’t pay the utilities bill, this isn’t really fair and has caused a lot of upset recently.
Ahhhh, all the hype about the rug & we didn’t get to see it laid out!!! Lol hope we can catch a pic of it in another vlog! I’ve only been a subscriber for about a month & I am in love with your energy & family! 💕💕 much love from Ohio.
I line in Missouri near the two biggest rivers in North America. One of the primary concern in this area is “is the house or apartment located in a flood plain?“ Not just from the major rivers but also the smaller tributaries and any creeks that can overflow from a heavy rain. But also the larger rivers getting high backs up the smaller rivers and creeks into yards and homes. And flood insurance only covers some of the losses and is fairly expensive.
Where we live in California we are constantly concerned about fires, earthquakes, snakes, black widows, ANTS! Bears occasionally venturing down from the hills.
I am so happy your mom has a garage now. What a great thing! Is Em staying there for good? I hope so. And your Mom's hair still looks great. It was a perfect style for her.
Louisiana - if you're moving into a flood zone, has the home flooded in the past? By law, that information has to be declared. If you have a mortgage and in a flood zone, flood insurance is mandatory and depending on your zone, can be expensive. We have always avoided purchasing a home in a flood zone. In 2016 some homes flooded that were not in a flood zone. We were blessed, we were the 20% that didn't flood. Also hurricanes is a major concern, we make sure to have a hurricane rider on our homeowners policy.
Not renting anymore BUT in the South (USA) we have poisonous centipedes that come in looking for water, they bite or sting (not sure which) and it’s like a wasp sting. Also, flooding and mold are huge problems where we are. AC is a MUST because it can be 110+ 100% humidity during the peak of summer. Lots of possums, armadillos, bugs, especially Love Bugs which swarm twice a year and their guts destroy your car’s paint job... lots of stuff to worry about! Lol
Hubs and i are renting here in Pennsylvania, not to much we have to be concerned about....biggest thing would he heating wich, for us, is oil so making sure thats taken care of. I feel we are really blessed with what we have. That photoshoot/video was AMAZING!!!! all u ladys are gorgeous and did an amazing job!!!!😊🥰
Congratulations mom on your new place. I live in Las Vegas which is so similar to Arizona in weather snakes , spiders and of course scorpions you really have to watch for, oh don't forget about the coyotes... .
I just recently found your channel, and I am in LOVE ! Thank you SO much for sharing your life adventures. I know how life can be a challenge. I too try my best to keep sharing happiness through the rough times. With so much negativity in the world today,it's refreshing to see HAPPINESS!! With that said, please share the "sad face" times... it keeps it real. 😉 Sending love from Eastern Washington (almost neighbors?) 😁 😚💕
I pay rent in my friends condo. It’s a verbal contract. I’m paid up until the end of April 2020. My mom’s passing left me with money and I gave her enough to last that long. Where I live rent ranges from $350-$3000. Everyone’s main concern are pipes freezing up during winter time. Also everyone here gets winter or all weather tires. And tire alignment. PennDOT rarely cleans up the back roads when it snows with accumulation. The community I live in, plows and salters work 24 hours around the clock pretty much.
We are a renter and were not told there was mold in the apartment. So the next time we move we will make sure to watch for this. But we were not told the truth by the first landlord about things in here. They shirked there responsibility for doing any repairs. Specially when they put the house up for sale. We also live in Northern Ontario Canada... And the snow and cold we get here is alot. Also next time we move I'd like to have a garage.... It's a hassle having to constantly remove the snow lol.
I'm surprised how important garages are to people in Alaska. I live in a northerly part of Canada and we have very similar winters to you and most people don't have garages here. I guess it's just what is expected. We just plug our cars in to get them started. Yes, home hearing is so important though and to consider the method of heating before buying or renting.
We are in Ohio.. A waterproof basement or underground bunker is one of our musts due to Tornados, waterproof due to flooding Another watch outs are: Brown recluse spiders, rattle & copperhead snakes. The weather changes quickly here. Right now you need your winter coat in the morning, by afternoon you need short sleeve shirts, and by evening you need either a light hoodie or jacket. this past week it has rained with temp in the 50s-60s, Been super sunny with temp in high 70s, and then dropped down to the 30s mid week. *mother nature is always going through her cycle here, no breaks usually*
My husband and I would love to move to Alaska someday (with our 4 kids). It is so beautiful! He works for a corn processing plant (Cargill) in Iowa. I don't think they have an Alaskan location :/
Jessica, the video was awesome! You ladies are ALL sooooo beautiful inside out- I love the message the video sends. The wood cart is so smart. Garrett- I hear someone’s voice changing ☺️ zucchini as pasta - genius!!!!!!! Oh, rentals in our area of SC consist of staging as a major trend. Having a licensed inspection done is a must. Location location location is where it’s at here. People love to have neutrals all thru out the house here too.
Here in Australia especially Victoria you need heating and cooling some houses still don’t have both. But it’s extremely hard to rent where I am with up to 130 candidates showing up to a house viewing. Not to mention the expense. Houses are on average around $400 a week that does not include any utilities or anything just the house and that’s just a small basic 3bedroom you want a bigger house then it’s more like $480 a week.
In NSW, Australia 1. Cost 2. Reverse cycle air con. 3. Bush = higher fire danger plus more chance of snake encounters. We love living in the bush but you do need to have heightened awareness during summer. 4. Most rentals do not allow pets.
We live in a city., but we are up against hills. We get skunks, possums , coyotes and raccoons. Also we have a lot of homeless. We live in sunny California.
Here in the Tampa, Florida area it's not the heating cost...it's the AC/electricity cost. There aren't too many months where you can have open windows and be comfortable. Plus...storms are a big concern with roof leaks and flooding. Not worried about hurricanes, just typical summer storms. And, of course, the occasional gator that decides to get a bit to friendly with your yard, pool, or porch. Lol.
From Missouri here. I know ya'll know about earthquakes. I live right on the New Madrid Fault line. Its bigger than the San Andreas fault line. When this fault line decides to move it really moves. Long time ago it made the Mississippi river run backwards for a while. And it made a lake that didn't exist all the way to Tennessee. The actual town of New Madrid, well a big chunk of that town cracked off and ended up in the Mississippi river. I like living in the country with farms, acres of corn and soybeans, but the Mississippi river Floods every year when the snow melts from the northern states. So....flooding is a big concern for my area. Lived here in this house 4 years, no flooding yet. Praise God! 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Oh yeah, I forgot we have subterranean termites. That's not a Renters problem but a big problem for a landlord. Lottsa bucks to fix termite damage.
To Jessica's Family: Please move to Alaska so that her mom and sister will stay there. How awesome to have everyone in the same state. ♡♡♡

I find the temperature odd lol I'm in Australia we use Celsius so it makes no sense to me!!
I know right?! It is so satisfying.
Here in NZ we don't really have built in heat or air conditioning. So the main thing we have to look out for mould and damp. And if you have pets it is really hard to get a house that lets you have them.

I live in central Florida and when your looking for a home here you look for a up to date central air conditioning, garage and a newer roof.
Don't forget the alligators in the ponds and lakes. We almost lost our dog once to one.
All the best to Jessica's mom and sister in their new home. I'm sure they'll be very happy there!
New subscriber I love all y’all videos so far ❤️❤️❤️

Same as you in Minnesota. Garage, water and heat!
Air conditioning and fans in rentals if you live in Queensland, Australia. Snakes, snakes and more snakes. It’s currently breeding season here!!
Flooding can be an issue even in just a regular storm and Tropical storms/ hurricanes in Houston Tx

Florida- palmetto bugs, making sure the AC works well, insurance that would cover flooding ie hurricanes; hurricane season and snowbird season.

In Missouri, a house purchase has to have a termite inspection.
As far as creepy crawlies, brown recluse spiders.
Ticks with Lyme disease.
In Florida, you have to make sure that the AC is the proper size and working properly (our last house it wasn’t and our power bill for a 1,000sf house was over $400 a month), I live in a part of Florida where there are a LOT of lakes so you have to make sure the city sprays for mosquitoes because they are terrible all year round, and always make sure it’s never downhill with flooding in Florida... so scary.
And wanted to tell you thank you for all your vlogs. I look forward to seeing them.
In Toronto we have to worry about raccoons, air conditioning, parking and traffic!
Always a blessing to have family to help and sooo happy your mom & sister can move into one of your places. A huge win for everyone. Stay blessed. ❤️🙏🏼
Might have to rent first to wait during a build like you did.🤞🏼
Weather wise tornadoes and flash floods. Insect wise brown reclouse and Cooper snakes. Mold in houses. In lovely Tennessee
Oh my!!
I really enjoy your videos because you all are so positive in your daily lives. Hello from the Smoky Mountains of TN.
Utilities, as far as peak billing amounts for previous year. Age and condition issues of major appliances and your heat source. I hope your mother will love the new place!
I asked my mom if we can go to Alaska 😁 she said it's too cold 😀
From Missouri! I now own a house, but when I rented I wanted to be as close to ground level as possible because of tornadoes. Another important must was having firewalls. They obviously helped as a fire barrier, added a little insulation and you don’t hear your neighbors. And also I had to make sure it didn’t wreak of smoke. Unfortunately, a lot of people smoke here and since I don’t, I can’t have my living space smelling of it from the last person.
In Florida, good AC and look out for mold problems.
I said AC too, but completely forgot about the mold issues in a lot of rentals! What part of Florida?? I'm in Lakeland.
@@863LKLD, Pensacola area
That is so awesome your Mom has a Great landlord that will work with here on the lease agreement! Also she knows a great Heating expert if she has any issues with her heat. It looks like the kids had a really yummy dinner!
I rent and my worries are flooding during rainy season or storms, window screens (mosquitoes) and all appliances are working condition. Love the video. Hafa Adai from Guam.
Dang, all that hype about the rug and you didn't let us see it!!! Bad girl, Jessica!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😉
In Maryland/DC area, high crime areas are the biggest concerns.
Great modeling debut!! And yes, please Jessica's family, please move to Alaska.
Pg&e (shutting your lights off during fire season) black widows possums. I am in Northern California
Love watching you I was born and raised in Arizona but moved to Arkansas a couple years ago
We love AWANA! My oldest two are in T&T and we have a Cubbie. Two other kids aren’t doing it this year. 🙃
You’re modeling was great so professional,
Here in illinois its heat/ac..garage...and sump pump if there's a basement!!
A waterproof basement or underground bunker is one of our musts due to Tornados, waterproof due to flooding
Another watch outs are: Brown recluse spiders, rattle & copperhead snakes.
Rain and ice in the winter time and the wind
In NSW, Australia 1. Cost 2. Reverse cycle air con. 3. Bush = higher fire danger plus more chance of snake encounters. We love living in the bush but you do need to have heightened awareness during summer. 4. Most rentals do not allow pets.
Chad needs to make another appearance in your videos! What a fun guy to have around!!!!
We live in a city., but we are up against hills. We get skunks, possums , coyotes and raccoons. Also we have a lot of homeless. We live in sunny California.
I am from Flagstaff Arizona. Hi. It is fun to see all your videos
Praise God! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Oh yeah, I forgot we have subterranean termites. That's not a Renters problem but a big problem for a landlord. Lottsa bucks to fix termite damage.
